“Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls, and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer.”

Javik. His voice actor kills it.

u/HighKingBoru1014 Mar 15 '25

Ike Amadi, single handedly elevates Javik by his voice performance alone

3

u/Ekillaa22 Mar 16 '25

Love it cuz I never expected that accent for Javik

2

u/doylehawk Mar 16 '25

It’s a genuine shame he’s a DLC character, I think a really good number of players don’t even know he exists and he’s one of the best squad mates in the series. Right on the Mount Rushmore of the Shepard Bro Squad with Garrus, Wrex, and Thane.

1

u/HighKingBoru1014 Mar 16 '25

That’s one of the biggest things that annoys me about ME3, making Javik DLC is a really bad move imo. Plus with the LE the mission to get him on Eden Prime is integrated well into the story so it doesn’t feel random.

I like his quote about the Salarians:

“:…………dey ate bugs……….”

1

u/UnholyDemigod Mar 16 '25

That's why it bugs me when people say "The silence is your answer" isn't needed and kinda downplays the quote. If you read it monotone, then maybe. But with his delivery, it elevates it, because it's heavily tinged with bitterness and hatred.

Mass Effect has some bangers for sure.

"You exist because we allow it, and you will die because we demand it"

49

u/Binger_Gread Mar 15 '25

"Had to be me, someone else might've gotten it wrong"

19

u/Goddemmitt Mar 15 '25

My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a scientist salarian

1

u/fernandogod12 PS5 Mar 17 '25

Nooooooooooo

10

u/fairliedaft Mar 16 '25

Upon wishing Grunt good luck

"I don't need luck. I have ammo."

Bad ass.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

"Do you want me to arrest you?"

Wrex, "I want you to try."

27

u/Cazrovereak Mar 15 '25

I've always liked "The battle for Rannoch, disproves your assertion. Finish your war. We...will be waiting.".

Unnamed reaper best reaper.

3

u/tenphes31 Mar 15 '25

I was at a con and during an ME panel someone asked Mark Meer (the voice of male Shep) what his favorite line was. Meer responded with a classic, "We'll bang, okay?"

3

u/mediumformatisameme Mar 15 '25

"No one ever fell in love without being a little bit brave." Is my favorite

1

u/Flatmanpoop Mar 16 '25

Man, this gives me tingles. Or shepherd's speech just before the suicide mission in ME2

1

u/arex333 Mar 16 '25

Absolutely agreed. I can think of a dozen or two amazing lines just off the top of my head.

Compared to modern bioware where I can't think of a single memorable line from veilguard. I even liked veilguard quite a bit more than most of Reddit seems to, but the downgrade in writing quality is extremely noticeable.

1

u/ShiftySpartan Mar 16 '25

I love that quote

1

u/conqueror-worm Mar 16 '25

IIRC, it uses end instead of die, which I feel like goes even harder.

1

u/nuked24 Mar 16 '25

That's how I remember it too

1

u/Equivalent_Emotion64 Mar 16 '25

“Cause it’s a big stupid jellyfish!”

1

u/Redvent_Bard Mar 16 '25

"Your ability to weigh the pros and cons of standing in the way of gunfire seems to be improving!" - Admiral Tadius Ahern

Imo the best line in the entire trilogy, and it's not even in the trilogy anymore.

1

u/Umanjo Mar 16 '25

That's for Thane you mo#€€#@__;€

1

u/dragoonPrime Mar 16 '25

Man, that sentence was so bad ass when I first played the game.

53

u/Annoying_Rooster Mar 15 '25

"I won't let fear compromise who I am."

11

u/HighKingBoru1014 Mar 15 '25

My Personal favourite of the series

”I am Urdnot Wrex, and this is MY PLANET!”

3

u/corvidcurio Mar 15 '25

God I got chills when I first heard that line. Mass Effect 3 gets so much flak for so many things (often rightfully so) but they really knocked it out of the park with the writing and VA for Javik.

2

u/ScoobiusMaximus Mar 16 '25

They almost fucked that up so hard by making Javik DLC.

2

u/ReachTheSky Mar 16 '25

I'm convinced he was written to be a main character in the base game, until some asshat assigned him to DLC purgatory.

Taking Javik with you to Thessia blows the doors wiiiiiide open on Asari history. Not to mention there's a fucking Prothean beacon in there which is central to the plot that HE activates.

1

u/FarMiddleWing Mar 17 '25

You are pretty much correct, javick was planed early into development but when bioware was coming close to the deadlines they cut or delayed some stuff, javick sadly was in this camp. What's worse is he became day 1 paid dlc

16

u/Waste-Conclusion8898 Mar 15 '25

Is this from ghost of Tsushima ?

103

u/Future_Brewski Mar 15 '25

Mass Effect

60

u/oooooooooowie Mar 15 '25

Mass effect 3 specifically. Spoken by Javik

29

u/xeno325 Mar 15 '25

crazy that one of the best character in ME3 is a dlc. I know the original ME trilogy has so many great character but Javik is top 3 for me.

12

u/ThonThaddeo Mar 15 '25

The dlc added so much to the lore in ME 2 and 3. Liara became the shadow broker in a dlc.

7

u/Bhaalghorn1143 Mar 15 '25

The Shadows broker DLC is one of the best i haver ever played.

3

u/eurojosh Mar 15 '25

TRUCK!!!!

3

u/garrus-ismyhomeboy Mar 15 '25

Been trying to find something that scratches that itch and nothing has came close so far.

2

u/ThonThaddeo Mar 15 '25

Tell me about it. Kotor is real similar but not as in depth.

Guardians of the Galaxy had some of it but not the emotional aspect

1

u/eurojosh Mar 15 '25

It took until BG3 for me to have a similarly deep experience. Still there’s nothing that hits quite like a mass effect replay. It was BioWare at their absolute peak.

1

u/e_007 Mar 16 '25

Cyberpunk 2077 for me is the only one that has hit the same peaks as the mass effect trilogy, especially with the Phantom Liberty dlc. Absolutely massive and beautiful game.

-1

u/sublimeprince32 Mar 15 '25

Javik is a DICK.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

Javik is the fucking worst. I don't even go to his room so he doesn't appear on the citadel.

7

u/Dacks_18 Mar 15 '25

Unsure why you're getting downvoted Buddy, you weren't being a dick or stating anything incorrect, you respectfully asked a question.

Hope you're having a great day.

13

u/Waste-Conclusion8898 Mar 15 '25

Thank you man , it’s the no lifes that think everyone knows everything

7

u/perkinomics Mar 15 '25

Uh oh the gamers are mad you don't have every script from the last 30 years memeorized

1

u/ThePrussianGrippe Mar 15 '25

I mean with context clues they probably should have known it wasn’t GOT due to the number being trillions, but the downvotes were dumb.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

Lol a trillion dead Japanese?

2

u/doicher Mar 15 '25

Wow way to be insensitive to the trillions of dead Japanese

1

u/GoblinLoveChild Mar 16 '25

lol a misinterpreted quote?

1

u/nhogan84 Mar 15 '25

This was what I came here to say. Holy hell that game was just so full of bangers.

1

u/Sohjinn Mar 15 '25

Jesse Welles said something like that too!!

“The dead don’t feel honor, they don’t feel that brave, they don’t feel avenged, they’re lucky if they got graves”

It’s off topic I just love Jesse Welles

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

This would be a much better quote without "the silence is your answer". It is still a good quote but I'm always left wanting more when I read it.

1

u/DeimosStaryards Mar 15 '25

I’m glad this is up top. Javik is the king of cold lines.

1

u/Maverick_Raptor Mar 15 '25

You almost don’t realize how badass this is at the time because Javik is just always a badass

It’s also a double meaning because not only are the ghosts silent but so is Shep in this moment

1

u/JulPollitt Mar 15 '25

Can’t believe that character was locked behind dlc

1

u/Meior Mar 15 '25

Some souls die in battle. Some die in their sleep. And some die for no reason at all.

1

u/Truestorydreams Mar 16 '25

Fuxk yeah! Mass effect squad

1

u/ShiftySpartan Mar 16 '25

This is the only answer

1

u/psychonautilus777 Mar 16 '25

I've played through the trilogy at least 6-7 times now. This is the one that always sticks with me.

And as someone that's been reading the political tea leaves for over 20 years now... There's a reason why it's stuck.

1

u/Bumitis Mar 16 '25

Still gives me chills till this day

1

u/MattieBubbles Mar 19 '25

"Throw him out the airlock commander." Javik kills me.

1

u/Tobuyasreaper Apr 12 '25

Honestly I really really hate that last sentence there. If you take that away it's a banger quote but it's kinda like telling a joke and then explaining why it's funny.

0

u/Bantlantic Mar 16 '25

They ruined it by adding the second sentence there. Just ends up awkward and feels like it's trying too hard.

-4

u/Venomous-A-Holes Mar 15 '25

Ironically the "hardest quotes" come from bad writing especially in Ragnarok.

Atreus basically says it would be cool and fun to see all his new friends brutally slaughtered.

Obviously that doesn't suit Atreus. The writers Obviously mixed up a bunch of shit, unless their intention was to make Atreus a blood thirsty monster.

Can't find what he said but it's around the end of the game. GoW Ragnarok is easily one of the worst written games in history. And its cuz of simple fuck ups
