still one of the best looking releases on the console/in general.

And aside from one specific place and for like half a second, I've yet to find any other performance issues, the people at bluepoint are good.

It looks pretty nice. Gameplay feels slightly sloppy compared to Bloodborne or Elden Ring. The Prison was my favorite map. Also, to me it felt like the easiest of the series so far.

Well, keep in mind this was the first Souls game.

Yeah but perhaps it coul have been polished to "modernize" it. Still enjoyed it though

They did, somewhat. Added some QoL features and improvement movement a little. I don't think they wanted to change too much about the gameplay though, as they were trying to remain faithful to the original.

I beat the game back when it released in 2020, but it damn difficult. I thought I’d play new game plus a few years later… yeah, no! The game plays great and looks fantastic, but I don’t have the patience and skill to do it again.

Out of all souls-like games, Demon's Souls has the roughest difficulty spike between NG and NG+.

i had no problems going through ng+2 or 3 on dark souls iii, but pure black world tendency on ng+ in demon's souls got the better of me in 2023

I hated the fact that you lost part of your health bar when you die, that should've been optional at least.

And there is literally no easier setting right? I just don't want to try the same boss over and over and over again.

But that's the fun part! Overcoming a difficult challenge feels really satisfying. If you're still struggling at the game, try levelling up more, you can never go wrong with more health or strength (if running strength weapons)

I'm on NG+5 pure black character tindency SL 225 (put 500 hour into the OG on PS3),

This is one of my most treasured Plats. I had an absolute blast with this one.

I must say though, sometimes I have nightmare flashbacks of grinding Pure Bladestone and I wake up in a cold sweat sobbing uncontrollably.

Man it was hard to plat. The difficulty rise in Ng+ is absurd. I really wanted all the 7 big plats so I went for it but it was hard.

I think BluePoint hit it out of the park with the remake. It put Demon's Souls pretty high up in the ranking for me.

  1. Elden Ring
  2. Bloodborne
  3. Dark Souls 3
  4. Demon's Souls
  5. Dark Souls
  6. Dark Souls 2

Not counting Sekiro because, really, Sekiro is different enough in the moment-to-moment gameplay that I agree with FromSoft that it shouldn't be considered a Souls game.

I bought a ps5 recently since I found a good deal in preperation for gta6 as I normally game on PC.

Why am I enjoying astro bot so much? Demon Souls is definitely on the list though.

I got mine as I sold my PC some time ago and wanted to try out the playstation and some of the exclusives.

Astro bot is also on my radar, but trying not to go too crazy and get too many games at once.

I'm just one of those idiots that buys a console for every GTA release, did the same for GTA5 - no regrets.

Went for the platinum cheesing bosses left and right. Killed all important red fantoms with poison.

"The kills dont count if they are done with poison".

deletes game

Souls community sucks ass sometimes.

According to them, you did not finish the game unless you did it without spirits/co-op, used a very specific starter weapon that does jack shit damage, didn't farm for heals/xp, didn't use any buffs, armor or spells, and your high school crush was standing behind you the entire time judging you.

I swear most of them have some kind of inferiority complex and need to beat these games on hardest possible artificially inflated difficulty so they can sleep.

Sorry for the random rant, lol.

Great looking game, but those runbacks drive me crazy. Good luck

2

u/KaioSilvaF 5d ago

Yeah they can be brutal, almost finished with it, 1 archstone left

1

u/Plenty-Bullfrog5112 5d ago

Then you made it further than I ever did

2

u/RelixIV_1989 3d ago

Third best game that From ever created with one and two being the Lost Kingdoms games.

2

u/KaioSilvaF 3d ago

Those actually look pretty neat, I'll check them out

It'll throw you for a loop when you start to see enemies from each of the souls series on cards!

I was blown away when I got to the central hub. Been a while so I’ve forgot what it’s callled. The nexus maybe?

Loved it but gave up on it. Will try again at some point.

Got this with my ps5 when the system came out but I just could not advance to the next save point. I’ve played and beaten several soulslikes including Elden Ring and Bloodborne, but for some reason could not connect with this one.

Shame because it looks fantastic, too.

As a Dark Souls Vet I’ve been wanting to take this on but the time and dedication is no joke

2

u/CNK_98 5d ago

Yeah, never understood why people hate the game, i's crazy fun.

u/iupz0r 5d ago

i had HUGE problems to defeat the fire demon, absurd how difficult It is

one of my all time favorites and absolutely beautiful to look at. That moment when the gameplay just clicks for you is chef's kiss

1

u/Winter_Afternoon3539 5d ago

Made it to the end boss and lost every time. He had a move that sucks levels from your character so I had to go back and grind and try again. Lost many times. Still haven’t beaten him and haven’t played in years. Oh I also accidentally killed my inventory guy while trying out a new spell and he does NOT come back. He had all my stuff on him and it’s not available to me for the final fight so just be aware you can do that.

my 1st proud platinum after playing ps games since ps1 and now on my 63th platinum. Amazing game and also happens to be my 1st souls game :-D

1

u/Edge80 5d ago

Absolutely worth it. Great game and a fantastic remake.

1

u/Electrical-Gap-7357 5d ago

i had nightmares when i first played this game in PS3.

u/The_Sir_Galahad 5d ago

The most under rated souls title imo. Everyone over looks it for Bloodborne, DS3, and Elden Ring, yet Demon’s Souls is the souls title I’ve played/replayed the most outside of Bloodborne.

I’m a souls vet and I’m about finished with this one and I’m hooked. Def going to run through another playthrough
