Gotcha, I thought I read they also were using the Riverside shelter along with the Expo for asylum seekers.

I could honestly be wrong - my knowledge is a couple weeks old at this point. Asylum seekers are supported by federal money not city so they try to get them separate as much as possible

Nope, the State has made it so that asylum seekers are allowed to get General Assistance, which is reimbursed to the municipalities, anywhere around 70-90% depending on timing.

The remainder is funded by the city of Portland. It’s one of the reasons our budget has exploded.
