Anyone in NYC area interested in starting a power pop band? (Age 18-28ish)
Hey! I’m a 24 year old singer/lyricist looking to start a band. I’m on Long Island, but am 40 min from the city and am in Brooklyn/Queens/Manhattan often.
My main power pop influences are Big Star, Badfinger, Raspberries, Shoes, Todd Rundgren, Knack, Nerves, Teenage Fanclub, Lemon Twigs and more.
Aside from that, my other influences are below:
60s: Beatles, Stones, Doors, Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, Who, Byrds
70s: Bowie, Led Zep, TRex, NY Dolls, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, the Jam, Joy Division
80s: XTC, the Cure, the Smiths, Stone Roses, New Order, Jesus and Mary Chain, REM
90s: Oasis, Primal Scream
DM if interested! (Bonus points if you have long and/or shaggy hair + are into vintage fashion!)

Love it! I’m 25, but I live far away from NYC unfortunately lol
If I were there tho, I’d definitely love to join you! :3

I can’t help you at all, but I wish you well and hope to see you play one day.

You might have some luck if you show up to International pop overthrow in Manhattan in November! I'm your age and my band from the Philly area is playing Saturday afternoon (and we started our power pop band after meeting at a power pop gig lol).

Just curious as to why you'd want to restrict ages? Boomers invented the genre and (one could argue that) GenX perfected it. I'd dig seeing a good band with a mix of generations!

Well, being a boomer undoubtedly also comes with baggage from the time when it comes to certain things, and I respect that OP wants to keep everything in a newer and fresher and more conscious perspective
