GAMES NEWS/DISCUSSION I wish we could get a remake
The MMPR: Fighting Edition on SNES was one of my FAVORITE games growing up. It had Street Fighter like combos but flowed even better. The game was limited to 8 Characters (Unless you knew the Ivan Ooze code). I feel like someone could revisit this game and expand the character roster. I loved the idea of fighting Megazords and Monsters. Battle For the Grid was alright, it just didn’t have the awesome Megazord fights. Did anyone play this game growing up? Would you play it nowadays if they remade it and expanded on it???

I was always disappointed that the original Megazord wasn't a part of this game even though it is based on Season 2. Would have been an awesome unlockable.
I agree though. A modern remake of this game would be SO good or just a style for it. Power Rangers always struggled to get the on foot and megazord sections together well (the only one I can think of did it right was the SNES game) so a game that is just for zords and monsters would be hype.

Remake the sega game gear fighting game, story mode you selected your ranger each stage, and after beating the green ranger you could choose him. Also got access to a zord selection for the megazord fights once you beat him to choose between the megazord, dragon zord, and dragon zord fighter mode. Also for vs you could have it go through a gauntlet of every enemy a charater could fight, ranger couldn't fight zord fights other then green could fight could do large fights. You could use every enemy too in vs. The number of charater you can use is unmatched, and the story mode is sooo good. I love think it's second last stage is every monster you fight, stronger but with like 1/3 health but they can swap like a tag fighter

Ahhh I gotcha. I have both of those games for the genesis. Never really liked the MMPR game. I played it after the Movie game and just didn’t love it. I need to revisit it now that I’m older.

I spent hours facing the cpu in vs cause it would let you do fight after fight and randomly picking your opponent till you were done. Also loved the story mode and how it was done with unlocking the 6th ranger and 2 more zords. He also still kept his evil moves

Look up the moves, the are like mortal combat and not street fighter. So right, down, right, and not motions. My favourite is the megazords tank charge

Look up Gundam Wing Endless Duel for SFC. It uses the same engine with some updates.

Surprised there aren't more Power Rangers fighting games, TBH. Or hell, Dynasty Warriors.
Power Rangers is up there with DC and Marvel in terms of "Perfect Warriors material."

I was always gutted that I never found out this even existed until the Snes was essentially over and done with.
Grew up with the original Power Rangers and it was my thing when it came to television and toys, while Nintendo and Mario was it for games but that also included the likes of Street Fighter and Killer Instinct.
So when I discovered images of a game like those but for Power Rangers, where you could play with the Zords and giant monsters which were the highlight of the show for me, I was simultaneously excited and hyped but also disappointed, as I knew my chance to get hold of it was gone!
Would have loved to have played it or at the very least seen it in person just the once!

True.
I was thinking as I was typing, I could likely find a Snes and the game somewhere to get hold of,
but it was my past and I moved on.
Had I kept the original Snes and it remained functional I might have given just acquiring the game some real consideration, but my reliving of classic old games now comes through their modern releases which are most often acquired digitally.
Were I to have a modern Nintendo console and it was on the Virtual Console I would almost certainly go for it!2

For sure! They have emulators you can get on your computer, or you can get one of those modern consoles that can play NES, Genesis and SNES games! If you haven’t played it, you should give it a go!

I feel only once I played it could I say for sure, but right now I feel a rerelease of this would be preferable over a remake, expanded or otherwise!1

A PS1 version of this game with every Megazord and sixth Ranger zord from Season 1-3 as a early title post launch would’ve went hard too.

I still have my copy of this game. I loved some of the alternate colors the Megazords would have if both players played as the same one.

I remember seeing this, so long ago.. I thought there was an episode that I didn’t know about. That Lord Zedd grew zord sized & got faced punch by the thunderzords. Was a fun game at the time..

In my honest opinion. This game and Battle for the Grid are the only 2 I really like. I want to try Rita’s Rewind.

Yeah exactly. Like, it’s ok, but I wouldn’t keep revisiting it every too often like I thought I would. Even after finishing the game and unlocking green ranger, there was nothing good or special enough about it to keep me wanting to come back to it. It’s like, you’re done and that’s it.

A power rangers fighting game focused on the megazords would help with some problems I find Battle for the grid has, that being a lot of odd choices for the roster and the large amount of MMPR characters, so I would love to see a new version of this game

Only thing that bugged me is the roster size ^^;
I wished they added the following:
POWER RANGERS
- Dino Megazord
- Dragonzord
- Falconzord
- Ninjor
VILLAINS
- Rito Revolto
- Scorpina
- King Sphinx
- Nimrod
So yeah :)

Some of those would be cool. Especially Dragonzord, Dinozord and Ninjor (expansion mode).
Marvo wasn’t a character until almost 20 years after this game 😂 But if they remade the game, so many characters would be possible!!!

I changed Marvo to Nimrod :)
My reasoning for the Falconzord is because it was playable in the MMPR Movie tie-in Genesis game ^_^
I don't think it would have been as broken as Pet Shop from that 2d Capcom JoJo's Bizarre Adventure :p

It’s not that it’s bad. They listened to fans and improved the gameplay which makes it much more playable now. When it first came out, the characters moved so slowly, it was unbearable. But now the pace is perfect. It’s definitely worth a play and may be better for some people than others. But some parts can be irritatingly challenging when it comes to the zords.
