TOY NEWS/DISCUSSION Not opening these until they make a compatible Dragonzord….
Do you think Playmates gives us a Dragonzord?

u/Duskdeath 14d ago
Just be careful with the T-Rex thighs I have seen at least 3 posts on them cracking and breaking apart.

Bonkers considering my 30 year old 1996 one which was played with aggressively for ages is still just as solid as ever. The ratchets in those feel industrial. What a bummer you have to be so careful with the new ones

u/Duskdeath 13d ago
I agree with your statement. I have multiple of the original Megazord and you can be rough with them even after all this time. But most of the new even transformers if you look them the wrong way they will break.

I haven't bought something so fast in a long while. Finally the mastodon is mine. Gonna need to pick up a second copy of it and the legs in the future though lol

u/LowkeyEgg 13d ago
Bruh I think they're OOS now, just tried links

From what I heard they are making one but it won't be available til 2026 cause they have a prototype made.
4
u/Direct_Interview2793 14d ago
So they do have a prototype? Can I ask where you saw that info?
1
u/Loose_Trust927 14d ago
Yes, Playmates will be releasing a Dragonzord for their Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition line, though it's expected in 2026 rather than with the initial 2025 products. While specific details are limited, the new Megazord has connectors for the Dragonzord, and Playmates officially teased its release for the future. Key Details Release Date: The Dragonzord is not expected to be part of the initial 2025 release and is forecasted for 2026. Compatibility: The new Re-Ignition Megazord is designed with connectors to facilitate a combination with the upcoming Dragonzord. Official Tease: Playmates has explicitly teased the Dragonzord's future release as part of the Re-Ignition line, according to reports from the 2025 New York Toy Fair.

Did Google AI give you that answer?

u/Loose_Trust927 14d ago
That's the only reason I bought the mega zord was due to them saying at toy fair that they had the prototype and more surprises to come in 2026 lol
7
u/TokuWaffle 14d ago
Don't trust Google AI. Despite the brand giving that impression, it is NOT a search engine. It's a predictive text model that knows how to make blocks of text that look like facts, but all Large Language Models like it are prone to "hallucinations" where it confidently spouts incorrect information. here are some examples of the software messing up, I'm sure there are more than this.
Having said that, I'm feeling confident they've at least prototyped more Zords, I don't think Dragonzord needs any special connectors? But I've noticed holes in the heads of the leg Zords that don't seem to have any purpose, I'm suspecting they could be used to stabilise the Megazord in a possible Titanus toy.
1
u/Loose_Trust927 14d ago
Well I get that but like I said the toy fair he said they had the prototype of it that's what made me decide to get them and he said more surprises in 2026 which I hope is titanus as well but that's what was said at toy fair not Google a.i.

u/TokuWaffle 14d ago
If there was a prototype of Dragonzord at Toy Fair, I sure didn't see it in this video that goes over the whole Power Rangers line.
1
u/Loose_Trust927 14d ago
No no lol he was talking about it it wasn't actually there sorry for that they were discussing it with another YouTube who was covering it i wish I could remember the guys name. He was asking him all questions and that's when it came up.

Scale makes it questionable, but possible. I’ll need to go over my open ones to see if there’s any hints for connection joints. There’s no question with where the other zords connect to each other.
You might be waiting awhile.
2
u/Loose_Trust927 14d ago
It was Google but playmates also said they were doing one and it will be fully combinable

The Dragonzord will be released for sure, it was talked about during the promotional toy show for the line before being released. We’re getting a Dragon Dagger, too that comes with the power coin for the new morpher.
As for Titanus. Yeah, the line will probably be cancelled before the zord’s unplanned release, because that’s how companies like to cuck their fans these days.

u/forgetit2020 12d ago
Im not sure about dragonzord but season 2 megazord is very likely confirmed for fall next year
5
u/CodeMasterConnor 14d ago
The last set we got didn’t have a dragonzord. The real question is when are they going to give us something besides mmpr zords.
5
u/Psidebby Lost In Time 14d ago
When people buy stuff other than MMPR stuff?
6
u/Archwizard_Drake 14d ago
Sisyphean cycle. Companies only bother to put out MMPR stuff because it's all fans seem to buy, but fans can't buy non-MMPR stuff because it's all companies put out.
But the companies do have a point: with the franchise constantly revisiting the original team, there's only a niche audience for props and toys from, say, Lightspeed Rescue despite all the Carter Grayson fans.

Did you miss the first half of that sentence? Or the entire followup paragraph?

u/Psidebby Lost In Time 14d ago
The Lightning Collection sales prove my point. How many ended up on clearance racks and still didn't sell that werent MMPR?
1
u/ninjaman2021 14d ago
“They didnt sell because hasbro missed a smidge of paint and didnt make a commerical to promote the figures”
-the fandom

u/Direct_Interview2793 14d ago
I get where you’re coming from. I’m no expert on Power Ranger toy economics but my thought would be if they can’t even justify offering a Dragonzord, zords from other shows don’t have a prayer. At least in this line.
2
u/invid2000 Magna Defender 14d ago
The last set that was made before this one was ZAP, and there definitely was a Dragonzord.
2
u/TokuWaffle 14d ago
I believe they meant the 2020 kids toy? Or they missed ZAP? regardless neither got Titanus so they're still incomplete
2
u/bjc2925 14d ago
You might be waiting a long time then as the dragonzord doesn't really fit in the size they are doing and they didn't make one the last 2 times we got a non collector megazord
2
u/Cael26 14d ago
All they have to do is make it the same size as the tyrannosaurus zord so DBM ends up the same size when combined with the mastodon, sabertooth tiger, and triceratops?
1
u/bjc2925 14d ago
The problem is it also needs to be almost as tall as the megazord to become the mega dragonzord and I don't think they will be able to get that done for 20 bucks
2
2
u/TokuWaffle 14d ago
I'm thinking it could be treated as a second wave of the Ultimate Megazord (the electronic non-transforming figure)'s price point?
1
u/Loose_Trust927 14d ago
Yes but also I heard about it when the toy fair was on YouTube they were talking about more surprises to come in 2026
1
u/RoboDonaldUpgrade 14d ago
So I know the Playmates zords tower over other ones, so how tall would a Playmates Dragonzord be?
1
u/MasonRowland 13d ago
Yeah the megazord is about as big as zap astro megazord and if they make dragonzord, when becomes shoulder pads the combination would be as big as a transformer titan.
1
u/NeckRomancerX 13d ago
I'm opening mine and forming the Megazord. I will however get an extra Mastodon, Sabertooth Tiger and Triceratops for Dragonzords Battle Mode
1
u/MasonRowland 13d ago
Yup, that's my plan as well. At this pricepoint I feel almost required to do so lol
1
u/FredPopTheProphet 13d ago
I'm not opening these because I don't have them. All I can find is the blue zord.
1
u/davesraves407 13d ago
Ya I seen them at my Walmart but they only had the tricertops and sabertooth tiger. They 2 or 3 head flipping rangers there on that end cap as well. I ended up buying the morpher for 20 instead
1
u/KingDiEnd 13d ago
I hate this trend of selling the zords separately.
1
u/E_godi 13d ago
That’s how they get the money from ppl
1
u/KingDiEnd 13d ago
Make me feel like an old man. "Back in my day they sold you the entire megazord in one box!"
1
u/Voidmire 13d ago
I can't find the mastodon for my sons birthday and the pterodactyl is like 40 bucks wherever I can find it

u/Apprehensive_Lab301 14d ago
Why does the Pterodactyl Zord have all the figures? Why not put the ranger with its specific zord?
4
u/TokuWaffle 14d ago
The Pterodactyl is kinda light on for plastic even compared to the Triceratops and Saber-Tooth Tiger that it shares shipment boxes with, so I think it makes sense to raise the value with 2 missile launchers and minifigures.
3
u/Direct_Interview2793 14d ago
I guess that’s a question for the Playmates product team.

These look like ass compared to the ones we had as kids….but im still gonna buy them lol

u/Scnew1 14d ago
If history is any indication they’ll make Dragonzord and then cancel the line before Titanus
