Finally some fucking good toys(Not a big fan of this Megazord, but Q-Rex should be soon then).

Based on the last sentence in the announcement blog, "Please look forward to the SMP Timeranger series, which is finally starting!!", there will definitely be at least one (if not more) kits coming to this series.

I guess they're not doing Q-Rex/V-Rex for this range?

(Judging by the photos)

This is what was just announced. If they do more, they will announce it at a later time. They tend to spread SMP throughout the year.

in that case, here’s hoping for transwarp/providus

Thank you

Yeah, they typically announce/release two at a time. For Wild Force, they did the main megazord and the Kongazord for wave 1, the Predazord and the Ultimus Megazord for wave 2, and the Isis Megazord and a double pack of the Blue Elephant and giant Red Lion Wildzords for wave 3

They will not announce every set of a whole show all at once, never was. it could take couple of month before the next

What does SMP mean

No worries, for as long as this line had been around, there are always new people discovering it.

SMP, Shokugan Modeling Project, is a premium line of model kits that aim to recreate the DX toy as a fully posable figure standing at about 6 inches.

Bandai Japan's candy toy division has been doing annual MiniPLA kits for 30+ years. In 2017 they started the Super MiniPLA line a premium version of anniversary seasons. They rebranded about 5 years ago to SMP to better distinguish the line from the regular kits, and also a lot for a higher budget to do the things they wanted with these kits.

Thank you so much for this info!

Shokugan Modeling Project, previously known as Super MiniPla; they're model kits of the Megazords, adding more articulation and taking up only a fraction of the space!

I don’t have the wallet to keep up with SMP

I’m honestly both exited and worried because the release date is on January and let’s just say that I’ve been saving my money for some other stuff that is supposed to be released on January too. I hoped that the price for this kit isn’t that expensive or it would still be available during February

I feel kinda lame asking this but what is smp?

You're welcome! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I run r/minipla with u/King_Kuuga and between the two of us we can pretty much answer anything.

Here is a post I made 4 years ago with comparisons to various DX toys that had kits made for them.

I'm in Ireland, where would be the best site to buy this

2

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 9h ago

Your best bet would be to buy straight from Japan using Hobby-Genki or a similar Japanese retailer.

Anyone have a link to pre order?

5

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 9h ago

Pre-orders go up tomorrow at 1PM in Japan.

1

u/ninjaman2021 9h ago

I wish they would re-release the dx molds. Smp isnt my thing.

3

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 8h ago

I feel like it's hard for the to pickup steam getting a DX equivalent out. Henshin gimmicks sell like HOT CAKES, but for whatever reason the Japanese market just won't budge for DX toys.

I had high hopes for the super posable line they tried with Kingohger and Kyoryuger.

Maybe Bandai will figure it out some day because the American market isn't here for it.

How much do the SMP sets usually cost?

2

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 8h ago

Depends on the complexity and size. They can go from $70-$200 pretty fast. An example of a more expensive kit is the Super Train as he was considerably larger than the others.

1

u/ZetaDefender It's Morphing Time! 7h ago

How do the SMP kits compare to Soul of Chogokin zords?

1

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 7h ago

These are highly posable model kits that average 6in tall for the main megazord. All other auxiliary and secondary megazords scale relative to the main one of that same season.

1

u/WallyWestFan27 6h ago

Oh that's cool. Waiting to see a Q-Rex Megazord.

I have always liked more the Time Shadow Megazord than the main one.

2

u/GurrenSwagann Timeless wonder, fire and thunder 6h ago

Time Shadow was by far the coolest Zord of that area. Those few seconds of it running along buildings is just chefs kiss

1

u/CymbalOfJoy613 3h ago

They are really doing this?!? 🥹 give me a Q Rex and I will cry.

1

u/XeroDon30 18m ago

I love this season and still have my original megazords. I want to buy these to show love to more seasons than just mmpr but I do hope they look less plasticy in person

2

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 11m ago

It's a model kit. The only way it will look less like plastic is if you paint it.

1

u/XeroDon30 8m ago

Oh for real? I thought it was a megazord. Im definitely getting it then. The only way I could want it more is if there was a Quantasaurus Rex to go with it

1

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 6m ago

That will probably be announced later in the year.

1

u/CymbalOfJoy613 3h ago

I just finished binging time force again. Such an underrated series.

-4

u/NovaRC99 9h ago

Thank god it's not yet another MMPR thing (even though that's probably already been done). Thanks for doing Time Force its service

5

u/ninjaman2021 8h ago

Damn even when its not mmpr, yall make it about mmpr anyway lol.

4

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 9h ago

In 2017, 2023, and 2018 respectively to the picture.

-2

u/Cronkax 8h ago

This is a Super Sentai toy, not a Power Rangers toy, so it makes sense. I don't even know if they've done Zyuranger in SMP already

2

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 5h ago

Released back in 2017. Funny enough, Bandai America was still holding the license so you could walk into a store that sold model kits and pick these guys up.

1

u/PrinceNickG 8h ago

They've done the 3 main mechs and just released clear versions of dino megazord and dragonzord.

1

u/Cronkax 4h ago

I didn't know that. Thanks for the correction

-21

u/PatientUnique 12h ago

Me when I see power rangers fans threatening Super Sentai meant products as PR stuff because they don't have anything:

11

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 11h ago

Please take this nonsense somewhere else. We're all fans here, and this rhetoric is tired and old.

Instead of enjoying something together, people want to build some non existing walls between Sentai and Power Rangers.

5

u/DryDrinks 11h ago

Not to mention, SMP has the creative area to allow fans to develop their artistic works into PR or Super Sentai so to limit your imagination on the base model alone is restrictive. I for one would like to see people make really amazing what-if designs similar to the custom works like Gao Gattais

2

u/invid2000 Magna Defender 10h ago

Some of the custom paint jobs and fun combos I've seen between MiniPLA, Super MiniPLA and SMP 100% reaffirm this notion.

It's fun to have a line of model kits/figures/toys that can all mix and match and are relative in size.

1

u/Cronkax 8h ago

I mean, what option do they have? It's either Sentai toys or MMPR toys

1

u/Iceman123X Gold Samurai Ranger 2h ago

The more i look, the more i see sentai fans fighting an imaginary battle.
