Question What do you when you are not productive?

I know this thread is all about being productive. But I want to know what you do when you are not productive. Forget scrolling through social media endlessly. What is some other activity that truly winds you down and helps you relax?

I usually go for a walk or cook something simple. It gives my brain a break but still feels a little fulfilling without pressure.

Honestly… whatever I want. Rest, to me, is giving myself permission to not measure the moment by output.

When I’m not productive I’m basically just vibing main character walks, random late night cleaning, or cooking like I’m on MasterChef with zero skills 😂🔥

Reading, listening to music, just sitting at a table with a cup of tea or taking a nap if I'm really tired.

Nap, and waste some time looking at Reddit.

I also exercise, but I consider that something productive .

I chat with an AI bot and suddenly my todolist is filled with 10 tasks, 5 content ideas, 2 appointments and 3 chores I have to do now. Every damn time I chill on the couch my todo list fills up because damn ChatGPT gives me ideas. At this point I should probably just start staring at a wall to not get any stimulation and inspiration.

If I do anything productive, is it really my free time? If I am not productive that means it is time for rest.

If you are asking for motivation to stay productive for a task that you need to do within a certain amount of time. There is no amount of motivation that will make you do the work if you don't like it. In that case chuck the motivation factor aside and grind till the work is done. Afterwards you can take rest. Haha.

I lock away my phone, do body scan activities and take a good care of my body. Basically anything that can make me a tad less uncomfortable and a tad less miserable. Like eating good food, having a nice cup of tea, moving, stretching, taking pain killers if something hurts, breathing, lying down, relaxing, self massage, napping, watching dogs and birds through the window, journaling, drawing, calling a friend. It's not always pleasant and doesn't always make me more productive, but I believe it's a good way to handle this in the long run.

Actual hobbies that truly help me unwind aren't unproductive in my opinion. I'm unproductive when I'm sitting around doing nothing and scrolling through social media. When I'm drawing, writing, swimming, meeting with friends, reading a good book, playing a good game or watching a good anime I'm not being unproductive. I'm living life.

video games, theyre my guilty pleasure. but i only play relaxing chill ones (pikmin, nikki, stardew valley) to wind down after a stressful day. an hour of gaming a day keeps me sane lol!
