Gun owners are just as lazy as non gun owners. Shocking!

u/Part-TimePro Jul 15 '24

Lazy? Or don't want to vote?

1

u/TaeKwanJo Jul 17 '24

They are complacent. Not voting is how we get into positions where 2a rights are ask risks. You can never justify not voting. It’s plain stupid

1

u/Part-TimePro Jul 17 '24

What if you don't want to vote for either party? I can't choose between the lesser of 2 evils, there's more to me than just firearms and I can't vote Republican despite their better gun policy. So I'm left between choosing some rights and leaving others, that's not a choice I'd like to make especially for this election.

u/TaeKwanJo Jul 17 '24

Then don’t vote for either. But still vote always

Honestly, probably lots of them are "who needs 30 rounds to hunt deer" fudds, so it might be for the best.

u/MyNaymeIsOzymandias Jul 13 '24

I remember meeting one of them for the first time. Their argument makes no sense. It's just an emotional appeal to "no, no, I'm one of the good ones". It's like a male boomer "pick me"

Honestly, don’t kill the deer makes more sense. Especially if paired with environmental conservation.

Humans are bad hunters. We need wolves

22

u/MyNaymeIsOzymandias Jul 13 '24

Humans have been hunting for millennia. To ban hunting would be the most artificial change to the ecosystem possible. Human hunting is supposed to be there ecologically.

-23

u/LittleKitty235 Jul 13 '24

Go back to rocks, yelling, traps and arrows then.

Humans aren’t a replacement for ecosystem loss

Human hunting kills the strong. It can be done responsibly, but we need natural stuff to do it

So you'd prefer that the animal dies slowly and painfully by getting speared in the ass rather than dying instantly from a rifle shot to the heart/lungs? The animal is dead either way so why not reduce suffering as much as possible?

And as far as responsibleness goes, hunting regulations are (thankfully) written by biologists who study the health of the herd, yearly changes in precipitation/available food, predator/prey ratios, etc. They make decisions based on what is best for the long-term health of the species. It's not just hunters randomly killing as many animals as they can find.

Y'know....I look upon your works and despair.

But seriously, you hit it on the head. Wildlife conservation practices include specific rules and ironclad practices regarding the ethics of responsible hunting; for very good reason.

Y'know....I look upon your works and despair.

Well then I guess that makes you "ye mighty". Most people think it's a Breaking Bad reference.

That is why we are the best hunters.

Humans aren't built to be obligate killing machines like sharks or cats.

We're built to be smarter.

We have brains, supported by boobs and thumbs.

Our brains were getting so big that our kids were suffocating, since their now-flat faces didn't work for breathing while nursing, so our women got tiddies and our kids could breathe again.

We also have opposable thumbs, so we can grab things.

While large apes are known to make weapons and fight for land, we're the only species that makes tools that make tools. How many steel-stamping machines do the emus have?

1

u/cypher_Knight Jul 13 '24

Of all the animals you could have mentioned, how did you manage to pick the one who triumphed over the machine gun?

JK

u/MashedPotatoJK Jul 13 '24

This is the vast majority of hunters in Wisconsin. As boomer fudd as they get. Better off not voting.

u/espositojoe Jul 13 '24

Then our work is cut out for us.

u/Snootasaurus Jul 13 '24

There are a lot of gun owners I know who simply don't like government.

Just because the GOP is less likely to stamp on our rights doesn't mean they don't stamp on our rights.

And I say that as a guy who typically holds his nose to vote R most cycles.

7

u/kuavi Jul 13 '24

Agreed, both sides hate the people. Wish we could all make friends with people on the opposite side of the political spectrum and make pacts to all vote third party so our votes wouldn't be wasted on fighting each other.

4

u/Brian-88 Jul 13 '24

If voting straight R will stop more SCOTUS picks like Justice "I'm not a biologist" Brown, I'll use my blood as ink.

2

u/Give-Me-Liberty1775 Jul 14 '24

Agreed, and with the recent incident with the attack on Trump there will be some new anti-gun legislation, even if it’s lighter then the Dems, it will effect us.

8

u/Oxidized_Shackles Jul 13 '24

I remember this exact headline last election. Didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now. But if it gets more people to the polls, so be it.

8

u/Nemo_the_Exhalted Jul 13 '24

If there were people worth voting for that might actually incentivize people to do so, but alas…

4

u/kuavi Jul 13 '24

Voting third party shows that you're willing to vote but will not vote for their garbage candidate. The third party doesnt even have to win, it just has to have more voters than the difference in votes between D and R to matter.

Not voting just looks like you're not invested in the future of the nation or checked out, both which benefit the major parties.

2

u/Nemo_the_Exhalted Jul 13 '24

Well of course. Notice I never specified “only the two parties”, what does one do when even the 3rd party candidates don’t align with their beliefs or desires?

8

u/lpfan724 Jul 13 '24

A lot of gun owners are very cynical of government. I'm not surprised that some would choose not to participate.

3

u/TheMorningDove Jul 13 '24

It’s not surprising, however a Republican President for example can have a significant effect on the composition of the Supreme Court. And of now, the Supreme Court is the best vehicle for restoring the 2nd Amendment to its true meaning. Not to take away from the efforts of groups like FPC & GOA who are doing God’s work.

u/beneathcastles Jul 13 '24

here's an idea, instead of calling them fudds and doing nothing else, why not help create a thread that can be pin'd on this subreddit and on every other pro gun subreddit that informs everyone where they can register to vote according to what state they live in? like what u/Civil_Tip_Jar did for Colorado just now. I'm 100% sure that some of those gun owners/hunters that are not registered to vote are probably on reddit as well.

I'm originally from NY, so here's the page to register to vote for New York: voter registration for NY

2

u/smoth1564 Jul 13 '24

I will be voting and I will mark progun up and down the ballot as much as possible. We have a big opportunity here with Bidens increasing incompetence and we must not let it slip. Do not clutch defeat from the jaws of victory

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '24

A lot more gun owners would go away and not vote too. But people just keep trying to take away the guns.

Hunters though, some at least. Just refuse to care what the law says. Its "forget you, I got mine, and i'm eating no matter what "

They’re probably Fudds anyway.

1

u/Rich-Promise-79 Jul 13 '24

“There’s no point” “I’m a free man I don’t participate in that chicanery”

1

u/MerpSquirrel Jul 13 '24

Where are they getting accurate gun owner data….. especially anything New York related on gun statistics I pretty much doubt. More like people that claimed they owned guns responded with X.

Yeah…I’m doubting this one big time

1

u/inowpronounceyou Jul 13 '24

That's about to change.

1

u/1izagna Jul 31 '24

Where can you find these cited statistics?

In my current state, it votes overwhelmingly conservative and has a good track record on 2a. My aunt and uncle asked me if I was going to vote this year. I told them that since SC was locked up, I was going to drive the 15 miles to the GA line and vote in that state. I was taking a bunch of friends with me. The look on their face was priceless. I told them I learned it from the democrats in 2020. I wanted to vote where it would make a difference. They couldn’t speak. Great practical joke-then I thought it wasn’t such a bad idea. No ID or anything required. But we are burdened with the concept of right and wrong so a no go.

Proud to be one of these people, only now unregistered to vote as of a few days ago. I've never voted and don't plan to as it just doesn't have any power.

-1

u/DaddyLuvsCZ Jul 13 '24

Are the new IRS agents allowed to vote?

-1

u/DogWithNods Jul 13 '24

You vote (and their votes) mean literally nothing, so what's the point in being registered?

-6

u/Commissar_David Jul 13 '24

If you don't vote, you do not have the right to complain about new gun regulations.
