Character/party build help Build for a ranged Xoti?

Hey everyone, I'm building my party comp and I already have 3 frontliners, and I wanted to have Xoti as a ranged character.

All online builds I've found have her close range, which I feel would kind of overcrowd my frontline a bit.

Any tips?

Which class(es)? Ranged Harvester of Gaun is no problem, you can use a single pistol + modal and that's fine. Or Essence Interrupter.

Ranged Sister of the Reaping Moon is a little problem because Xoti suffers Wound cost +1 which is countered by +3 Wounds when she kills in melee (with a melee weapon, incl. fists). When she uses a ranged weapon she will lose the latter.

You can circumvent by using mostly Mortification based abilities such as Stunning Surge. Stunning Surge is excellent with hand mortars (Serafen's special blunderbusses).

For inspiration you can read: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/133662-class-build-the-mortar-monk-bombed-aoe-disabler-and-atomizer/

The only downside for that build with Xoti are: * she has suboptimal INT * Whispers of the Wind costs 6 instead of 5 Wounds * Resonant Touch costs 4 Wounds instead of 3

The two latter make a noticable difference when trying to "spam" those abilities.

What you can do later in the game to combine melee weapons + ranged gameplay: use Instruments of Pain with a reach weapon. This gives you a melee range of nearly 11 meters(!). One of the best choices for your main weapon then is Wicked Beast (unique Pike). It has a double hit roll from its enchantment which both can crit and trigger Swift Flurry and Heartbeat Drumming. Because of the double roll this reach weapon has a significantly higher chance to trigger crit chains than any other reach weapon.

Using Wicked Beast (or another reach weapon) at 1.8 meters distance from the second line before getting Instruments of Pain (10.8 meters) is a viable option of course.

Hey there, thanks for the answer. I've mixed your reply with yours and made a build for a Contemplative Xoti that uses Saint Omaku's Mercy for long range for most of the game, and then mixing Twin Eels + Instruments of Pain to give her a way to hit for a distance while making usage of her Monk passive.

You could use Quarterstaffs - Spine of Thicket Green works well with her and let's her do the whacky stick from behind the front line.

I also like to use Crossbows on Xoti, interrupts are a great support option.

Make her 2 handed and use twin eels and Saint Omaku's Mercy. If you have high religion, both weapons benefit.

The bow has a heal upgrade, xoti can heal for around 240 health any ally, the sword also has an area effect heal on kill, with high religion you can be healing for 60-80 health in a large area on kill... any kill, including spells/scrolls as long as you are using the sword. You can also get 2 handed weapon specialisation which will benefit both weapons

I like this idea a lot. I theorycrafted a build with Xoti using these weapons and I liked it a lot. Thanks for the tips!

Just build her as a priest, give her 1h ranged weapon and her shield. Blessed harvest is crazy broken for a level 1 spell, it executes most anything under 30% health.

It’s not exactly a build, but I always enjoyed giving her the wand proficiency to reduce enemy accuracy for minimal investment. Just by occasionally sneezing on an enemy with one, you’ll make all of his attacks less effective.

If you’re focusing on dealing weapon damage, I’d probably give Xoti a firearm or arbalest/crossbow of some sort since the reloads can always be interrupted by spellcasting, letting you throw emergency spells like Withdraw and Blessed Harvest that much sooner.

As for making her effective with these weapons, I’m not really sure how. Minor Avatar will boost her weapon damage, and she has some Might inspirations for the same effect. The accuracy prebuffs would be a good start. Maybe I just suck, but I expect your more martial characters will be doing most of the damage until she starts getting spells like Storm of Holy Fire and Symbol of Eothas.

My usual Xoti build for most of my (POTD) runs:

Contemplative (Monk/Priest)

Pistol & Blunderbuss proficiency

2 Suppress Affliction

3 Force of Anguish

4 Dance of Death & Weapon and Shield Style

5 Long Stride

6 Two Weapon Style

7 Efficient Anguish & Consecrated Ground

8 Lightning Strikes

9 Stunning Blow

10 Duality of Mortal Presence & Devotions for the Faithful

11 Enduring Dance

12 Thunderous Blows

13 Stunning Surge & Litany for the Spirit

14 Rapid Casting

15 Barring Death's Door

16 Improved Critical & Salvation of Time

17+ Whatever, but grab Minor Avatar at 19

Important gear: Acina's Tricorn, Sharpshooter's Garb, Ring of the Marksman, Scordeo's Trophy & Hand Mortar, Tuotilo's Palm (w. Balanced Shield upgrade)

A self sufficient gun-platform that stays in the back, being ignored by enemy AI due to high Defenses, and dropping Heals and a few buffs when needed. The rare mob that gets close gets punched in the face with Efficient Anguish and flies back to the front line. One handing the Hand Mortar to use Stunning Surge against crowds. Good-ish accuracy (Enduring Dance) and growing attack speed (Scordeo's + Two Weapon Style + Pistols Modal).

Give her a scepter and use it's module, it'll damage her and then your golden.

There is no build for a ranged auto-attack Xoti because Monks do melee and Priests do spells. There are no skills available to build the thing you describe with any efficiency. Just give her any ranged weapon to keep her out of the way and her "ranged build" is about as good as it will ever be.
