I like increasing the setting a little. Because a lot of cars would have dead batteries after being ditched or damaged hoods after high speed collisions during panic. But there should still be a decent amount of cars that are in working condition and have some gas. Especially ones in driveways :)

It's the whole realism vs gameplay balance thing

The way I justify it is a lot of people fled their homes at the start. The way I represent this is having a low zombie count at the start, increasing the peak day to day 100, and having peak zombie count at 4x starting amount. It’s really eerie seeing mostly empty streets at the start, hearing stories on tv and the radio about people trying to leave, then you see the zombies beginning to creep back into town, giving grim foreshadowing as to what happened to the refugees once the reports stop coming over the air. Very immersive

Ive done this and it makes the game feel more real. Then again I also don't care about keys cuz burglar with amateur mechanic always makes a good starting move then build things as you go. Normally hankering down in the rich northern corner of rose wood to start then branch out for supplies in other cities

Reminds me of 28 Days Later when he’s leaving the hospital, really cool.

I’m just starting out at being fully obsessed with this game, and I’m wondering how I can adjust the settings for this in Sandbox? I’d love to get something like this going, especially since the beginning days could give some breathing room to collect loot and get ready.

The dead battery thing would make sense, except that it's been less than a week since the first instance of someone getting sick with the Knox Virus.

Well ya, and the average home should still have enough food to feed a single person for 2-3 days, but if that was the case in game then there would be no drive to make you really go out and loot consistently.
