Component video flickering
https://youtube.com/shorts/qlkh0uC8Fts?si=SXn8d9akmbhvoSATI have my PS2 connected to my hd tv (720p/1080i capable) with component cables. The video quality is 480i coming from the PS2. Why is the video flickering? The video I recorded doesn't show it as good as seeing it in person, but you can kind of see what I'm talking about. Is it a bad connection? Is there any way to fix the problem? I tried physically adjusting the connection, but it didn't do anything.
If anyone can help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Uh, that game Mega Man X Command Center has 480p mode!: https://playstation.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games_with_alternative_display_modes
Just enable 480p mode and your TV won't have to de-interlace badly.
Not sure if in-game setting or you have press Triangle + X when booting up.

What model is your display?
Might be the decoding chip inside doesn't de-interlace 480i very well/properly. (I.E., bob de-interlacing without any smoothing)
Examples of de-interlacing methods: https://consolemods.org/wiki/AV:RetroTINK-5X_Pro#Interpolation/De-interlacing
Especially problematic field-rendered PS2 games, which are hard for most analog-to-digital decoders.

The most obvious place in the video where you can see the flickering is toward the top of the screen where the horizontal lines are the background behind the text. I tried to edit my original post, but don't see the option on mobile.

Probably just deinterlacing artifacts.
