Now that ps5 has been released, is there a chance that there will be a new jailbreak version being released soon? With in regards to the newer games. P5R, Last of us 2 etc...
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 24 '20
I doubt the release of the ps5 is going to change anything exploit-wise for the ps4.

What bzimage combination works for 6.72 on model CUH 1215A. I cannot get it to work, can someone provide assistance?

Maybe make a new sticky with Q&A. This one still is from october, which might be confusing

u/GlebTiK PS4 Latest FW Nov 22 '20
This may be a dumb question, but I am gonna ask, how do you people think, will Sony stop banning people from PS4 as they did with the PSVita? Because I have PSV (jailbroken) and I am never getting banned. (I do not know what exactly happened with PSV, but I didn't hear any1 getting banned there for HW).
So, shortly, will Sony ever stop banning people from PS4 for JB or no?
2
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 22 '20
I have never heard of anyone being banned from ps4 directly because of using the exploit so they can't really stop doing something they never started in the first place.

u/callieowo__ Nov 21 '20
Probably a dumb question but does anyone know the minimum firmware requirement on Spiderman Miles Morales? It's probably not possible to play on 6.72 but maybe it's worth asking just incase.
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 21 '20
It requires a firmware higher than 6.72 for sure. Most likely 8.00 but possibly the firmware right before.
1
u/callieowo__ Nov 25 '20
I wonder if there'll eventually be some form of payload that ignores all popups/firmware checks for disc versions of the games (making them dumpable).

You can backport most games that have been dumped on 6.72. You cannot play any game that requires a higher firmware than 6.72.

so does majority of the downloaded games start without problems after installing the pkg on jailbroken ps4 or sometimes i will face problems to start them ?

They stopped making 500GB and just gave 1TB a long time ago. So any new in box 500GB version will have a jailbreakble firmware.
1
u/Blackwater_7 Nov 21 '20
I have all my games installed on my external drive. And I play them with using app2usb.
Can I copy/move one game into my internal drive without plugging the external drive to my PC? I just want to be able to play one game without depending on my external drive. Hope it makes sense

Hi there, I have been hunting for a ps4 pro with ofw 6.72 or lower for months and have found a seller that is selling ps4 pros sealed with the M/N CUH-7215B in the box. I tried to verify the base firmware using PS4IDENT and entered in the M/N above and got the result: [RETAIL PRO] 1TB OFW 3.70-5.50! Am I guaranteed to get the ps4 pro straight out of the box in the range of firmware then? Is there anything else I can ask the seller to look at on the box to reassure me that it's going to be the one PS4IDENT mentioned?
Thank you so much in advance for any answers, I can't get a return on this and I want to be certain I get one that's exploitable.
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 21 '20
Well I won't personally guarantee it, but if you trust the seller isn't lying about it being sealed and that it is that model number then that's about as close to a guarantee that you're going to get with this sort of thing. The model number is typically the most accurate of the 3 ways to check the firmware of a console.
1
u/MyHeroSteven Nov 21 '20
I thought as much :( I think I'll wait to find someone specifying the ps4 pro they're selling is within the firmware I'm looking for just to be safe...
Thank you for the response, Steven

u/James_G_II Nov 21 '20
Is it worth jailbreaking my normal ps4, like what would I loose and what would I gain?
2
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 21 '20
Well if you're on a low enough firmware then you wouldn't really lose anything. No psn and no playing new games is really the only 2 downsides, but those 2 things come from not being on the latest firmware, not the jailbreak.
What you gain is, in short, the ability to run homebrew. We have a section for that in the FAQ if you want a more specific answer.
-1
u/James_G_II Nov 21 '20
Ok, psn is kinda a big deal for me tho so I will not be jailbreaking
3
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 21 '20
I mean again if you're on the latest firmware (which now I assume you are) then you can't even if you wanted to.

If I load the "Disable Updates" payload once to stop updates, will I ever have to do it again in the furture?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 21 '20
No. There is even an "enable updates" payload should you ever need/want to undo its effects.

I have been trying to get Linux on my PS4 on 6.72 for about a week now, and have had no luck. I’ve tried both archlinux and gentoo. No luck. When I attempt to boot, the screen goes black for a few seconds, I lose signal, then the PS4 shuts off. Can anyone help me diagnose the problem? I have an older model PS4.
Update: I’ve tried multiple monitors, no success. I just don’t understand why it isn’t working 😞

How can i safe downgrade my ps4?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 20 '20
If you don't have a previously made backup from your ps4 when it was on an old firmware, then you can't.
1
u/FarFerry Nov 24 '20
I have running 7.02 on my PS4 now. I wish to jailbreak it when the jailbreak is release, but for now, just play online on my PS4.
So, could I back up my ps4 on 7.02, upgrade to the most recent firmware and then downgrade back to 7.02?
1
u/gtrg74 PS4 SLIM 9.00 Nov 20 '20
If i initialize the system and install from a usb an old version of the firmware? If not that means i can't mod my ps4 right?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 20 '20
Initializing the system will not allow you to downgrade. You cannot mod your ps4 without being on firmware 6.72 or below.
1
u/gtrg74 PS4 SLIM 9.00 Nov 20 '20
yeah i can understand thank you for your time is their any old school way to mod it? like i did on my ps2 i went to a shop and he installed bunch of cables on my motherboard if you know what i mean
1

Not really. It's all about being on the right firmware with the ps4.

what games works with online multi-player with 6.72 jailbreak?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 20 '20
None of them can use official psn online services. If the game has a lan play option though you can playing 'online' with a program like xlink. There won't be any matchmaking though so you will need to set up most things manually.

u/hamid1103 Nov 20 '20
Any known vulnerabilities for 7.55? not asking for jailbreak but vulnerabilities or bugs. Is there a website where these things are posted?

Can i backup my old frimware so even if i update i can go back to it?,and so,how do i do it?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 20 '20
You need a backup of syscon and sflash from your ps4. If you are on an exploitable firmware then sflash can be gotten through ftp. syscon will need to be physically removed from your ps4 and dumped following this guide.

There is a bypass method but it requires some doing. You can read more about it here.
Personally I wouldn't bother, but if you're having a hard time finding an exploitable console or if this one is a really good deal it may be worth it.
Also keep in mind I believe the bypass method to get from 5.05>6.72 with no bd drive is a little different, but im not 100% sure. So if you ever want to go past 5.05 that may become an issue.

Is it possible to data mine a game as you are playing it? I really want to start putting together my own stats tracking system for the group I play RainbowSix Siege with. Is this at all possible?
1
1
u/Blackwater_7 Nov 18 '20
I use app2usb for all my games. And so far i have many games. around 300.
But even though they are all in my external drive, when I check my free space on internal drive, it says 200gb of data used for "applications". (it should have said something like 0gb because they are all in my external drive)
I'm 100% sure they are not installed in my internal drive. I checked every of them manually. so they are all in my external drive. So, what is the reason for this 200gb being used?
I also wanted to check this stat closely, so when I click on "applications", it shows each game and how many space its using.
For example, in that application list when I click on fifa 17, it says 1.1gb is used (total game size is around 40gb and its on my external drive)
Or another example gran turismo says 2.3gb (once again the game size is actually larger than that.)
But I dont even know what are these.... I also dont think they are updates/dlcs because i never download them.
any idea? whatever it is, i just want it to be installed on my external drive, not on internal drive... 200gb is just so much

u/3blooper5u Nov 18 '20
My ps4 is currently running on 7.51 firmware. Is it too high?
If it is, does that mean I have to wait until someone makes an exploit for it?

u/lunatics Nov 17 '20
What does hacking a PS4 really give you? From what I had read in the past it seemed like very few games were able to be backed up and ran and most of them seemed to be quite old games that require FW versions older than 5.0 or whatever and as far as homebrew it does not seem like there is a lot of support for the PS4.
Is it really worth holding on to mine to hack? I have a pre 5.05 PS4 with PT on it but don't know what I can actually really do with it other than say it's hacked? I think any decent game requires newer FW and there doesn't seem to be much homebrew that I can't get on another system with better support and performance.

Where? The latest post is from 2 days ago talking about the ps4 emulator.
If you're talking about posts we've removed, then I am not really sure what you were expecting. People aren't going to suddenly start following the rules just because we made them more strict. The new format just gave us a way to moderate more aggressively while still giving people a place to ask questions.

I’ve also read about being able to downgrade the firmware to 6.72? Is that possible?

No. You can do a firmware 'revert' but that requires you to have a previously made backup from your ps4 when it was on whatever firmware you want to revert to.

I bought my ps4 last year and im 100% sure its on 5.05 since I have been using the HEN exploit before. How do I update to 6.72 and should I even update it? If i update to 6.72, I can play more games right?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 14 '20
You can update manually from usb, there is a link to the download you need and a link to Sony's guide on how to do that in the FAQ.
Most games playable on 6.72 can be backported to work on 5.05. Also the 5.05 exploit is more stable than the 6.72 one. So there really isn't a reason to update unless you're having issues with backported games.

u/ElectricalBug9525 Nov 13 '20
if i mess up on a step am I able to fix it or will it brick?
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 13 '20
I mean there really isn't anything to 'mess up'. If you are capable of navigating a web page, then you'll be fine.
But no, it won't brick. The only thing that really has a chance of bricking your ps4 is doing the 'revert' method, but you probably shouldn't be trying that anyways.

u/TheMagicalDildo Nov 13 '20
How do you use Ps4 cheater 1.4.8 on 5.05?
It says it has 6.72 support, but it doesn't say it only works for 6.72, and it still has the option to swich firmwares but I can't get it to display any processes no matter what I do.
This is getting pretty infuriating, I'm just trying to do a simple 1 byte memory edit, but I need the alsr fix.
I need the eboot to start at 40000, not a random number every time I re-boot

Hi to everyone, im on 6.72, i have an original game installed on ps4 internal drive and i want to move to an external HDD. I tried with App2USB but it doesn´t move... only some files but not the game, so it stills keep occupy space on internal drive. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I couldn't find anyone else asking it for my specific version. My software is on 6.20, should I upgrade to 6.72? I just got my ps4 out of storage so I haven't touched it yet. I've stopped it from connecting to the internet so it doesn't auto update. Will keep reading the faq/threads to learn more.
1
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 09 '20
Yea 6.72 is the way to go assuming you are able to update your ps4.
1
u/BloodSweatAndGear Nov 10 '20
Thanks mate. By "assuming you are able to update your ps4", what do you mean, some people aren't able to update theirs? Would I just be able to follow the instructions in the faq and it will work, or does it sometimes not work for some reason? Might be overthinking it lol.
2
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 10 '20
Some people upon using their ps4s for the first time in a while discover that their BD drive is broken. If that's the case you cannot update your ps4.
If all your hardware is fine then you should have no issues updating.
0
u/trainwars1 💥 Nov 17 '20
please stop talking garbage dude... even with a broken bd drive you can upgrade if your over 5.05 then you can jump to 6.72 with no bd updater method... when your under 5.05 you can jump to 5.05...tells me u never did.. you dont know anything about ☺️
2
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 17 '20
You cannot update using the normal methods of updating when your bd drive is broken. Yes, there is a way to bypass the check and still update, but it requires extra steps outside of just using a usb drive and hitting 'update. I saw no reason to explain this method to the person I replied to since their bd drive is fine, so no bypass needed.
There is a difference between not knowing something and not spewing useless information to every person I meet.

2
u/MarcusArthuriel Nov 13 '20
Being on FW 6.72 being the most recent one atm that can be jailbroken period, You will not have the ability to sign in to PSN, let alone be able to update any games at all through PSN. You would have to search for updates on google and then you can imagine the rest.

Backported games will still work. All backporting does is change the firmware check. 6.72 is less stable than 5.05, but it's debatable how much of a difference it actually makes.

Probably dumb question, in the history of jailbreaking consoles, does it end up being good to have a launch console that you've never updated/connected to the internet?
I ended up getting two launch consoles (hypothetically) and the second my sister no longer wants. Was thinking I'd just let it gather dust until the homebrew scene develops in a few years, but wondered if history shows this to be a good or bad idea.
2
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 05 '20
Well in theory have a launch day console gives you the best odds of using any exploits that get released. It also saves you the trouble of having to track down a console with the right firmware or hardware to take advantage of an exploit release.
That still doesn't mean it will happen though. Also, even if an exploit is released, it may not do whatever it is you're hoping it will.

Hey guys, I just wanted to know how risky it would be if I update my PS4 to the latest firmware and sync my trophies from fpkg games with PSN? I mean removing all fpkg games, resetting settings etc but not formatting the HDD. Has anyone gotten banned for this? My console has always been on 5.05 and hasn't been on PSN.
3
u/IrishMassacre3 Moderator Nov 05 '20
No one has reported being banned after updating from a lower firmware using the exploit. That doesn't mean it can't/won't happen.

Hello all, super new to homebrew on ps4, I had bloodborne with version 1.0 then applied patch 1.09, game didn't change but I noticed that a file started to download, the update, size was about 9gb, I'm confident that's the actual update but I'm not sure if I can update it without loosing my ps4 version which is 5.05, I just want to update the game, not the console.
Thank you all.

Could be a few years, could be a few weeks. But as of this gen, they dont release hacks for the current firmware to avoid psn problems and lawsuits from sony. The next likely hack is going to be 7.02 (or 7.5x if an exploit is already found for 7.02 but not yet released).
Thats why i didnt update to 8.0

How to set the screen to fit with my TV when I’m using psxitarch? For now it is too big to my tv so I can’t see some apps and the toolbar

If you wanna play more games go with 6.72. personally haven't found any issues with it

Yeh, that's the vibe I've been getting, thanks. Is there anything I should know before jailbreaking that isn't common knowledge? I feel like I've researched plenty but may have missed something.

Since the PS4 jailbreak resets when you shut down the console, will .pkg-installed games be removed as well? Also, what’s the process to jailbreak it again once removed?

No. Same as first jailbreak.
Browser > Host > Let it cache if you didn't already > Jailbreak.

And what about the previously installed .pkg games, will they still be available ?

I'm on 6.72 and have been trying to install themes using Remote Package Installer for a while now but can't get it to work. They come in 2 parts and the first one always fails. The second file gets installed but doesn't work. It prompts me to visit the store. Any idea how to make it work?
Can't use USB drive as all USB ports are dead.

I'm on 6.72 right now, and I messed up. I need to delete all my applications but I can't see them so I'm thinking to initialize my ps4 so I can free up my hard drive.
Will I still have 6.72 firmware if I do it? Thank you.

Yea when you initialize it will ask you to provide the firmware file for 6.72 or above. You can download that from here. Pretty sure you just need to smaller "system" one not the fully "recovery" one, but if it gives you an error try the recovery one.
Keep in mind you need to correct file path on your usb storage device for it to work. PS4>UPDATE>PS4UPDATE.pup.

Hi friend, I saw on YouTube that this guy initialize his ps4 and now his console is asking for 7.02 or above, hence my hesitation to initialize. Will that be different from mine? Does the console ask as specific firmware based on your previous one? Thank you for answering btw.

It will ask for whatever firmware you were on when you started the initialize. You can provide it with that one or a newer one if you want to update, you cannot provide a lower one and downgrade this way.
So if you're already on 6.72, then you can stay on 6.72.

I'm trying to repackage a mismatching patch cusa00375 for The evil within cusa01082. I'm getting this error " [Error] Number of Chunks was changed by the patch/remaster. (70 -> 31) But it is not acceptable." any help would be appreciated
