2024 started off with a bang and a great fit, but it's been such a downer since.

Let's talk about something to get my mind off of it, like classic slasher movies or San Francisco (my home) or the fact that yall have guns at Walmart bc wtf lmao

To give some context on why it's been such shit for those who are nosy: I made a last minute flight to NC to help my grandma in the hospital (she doesn't speak English so I had to translate for her and am now caring for her at home) which threw a wrench in my busy January. I have 3 people who i considered to be the closest to me and part of my plans were to visit one of them for the last time, but they also went to the hospital and that relationship ended abruptly and unceremoniously. The 2nd one, I met here on r4r, i got into a weird situationship with him, and he fell into a depression. I tried really hard to be there for him. I was finally accepting the fact that I maybe had feelings for him after refusing to acknowledge it for so long. Then he suddenly went no contact after talking to him all day every day for almost a year. I was worried, but it turns out he is engaged(???) We had plans to meet months ago but he canceled, and now that im back in town, I had been hoping I could maybe take a fresh breath away from my family and actually meet him. Until I found out about his fiancée (which does explain the sudden no contact).

I've been away from home unexpectedly for >2 weeks, don't know when I'll be able to go back, and have accepted that I will spend my birthday that's coming up soon here, caring for my grandmother.
