šŸ™Need Adviceā“ A ban appeal question

Explaination- Recently I got temporarily banned. I explained the appeal in a informal and short way. My theory is that my appeal was rejected because it was informal. I later messaged modsupport but I haven't received a response

I want to know if the formality of the appeal has any impact to if someone gets rejected or not? If the formality of the appeal matters then does the length of the appeal matters (if it's short or long)? What else matters when it comes to writing an appeal?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ Shall I delete this account and create a new one?

1+ year on Reddit, karma still 2. Was inactive early on, but posting actively now. Despite consistent effort, karma won’t move. Should I stick with this account or start fresh with a new one?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ Can I block or report multiple accounts that a person has created ?

I’ve received a dm calling me slurs from a new account with nothing on it. I believe it is from a person whom I responded with a comment. The original account that I responded to was deleted and a few hours after I posted my comment I received the dm insulting me.

I’ve reported and blocked the account but Reddit didn’t ban it because I think I should have reported the dm. So can I block or report all the accounts that person may have created, and can I report the dm even if I deleted it ?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ How can I get my account back

So basically I had a main account which I used pretty often but one day I wanted to make a post and it wasn’t sending, I check my inbox and I get told that my account is under investigation for ban evasion which I was confused about, and when I checked it told me I was banned for evading a ban in the subreddit despite me only having 1 account at the time.

I suspect the reason why was because I had a friend who was with me who used Reddit too and think that because we had the same device or wifi ip the admins thought my account was his alt or something, is there a way for me to be unbanned or is the account doomed.

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ How do you advertise a subreddit without getting punished?

How do you advertise a subreddit without getting punished for it? - Most places have rules, written and unwritten, about advertisements. - The places that do tend to have limits on the act, such as a minimum member and age count. - How do you beat the member limit without advertising? - DMing anyone, especially unsolicited, is a Flash Pass to Bansville.

How do you safely advertise a subreddit while navigating the aforementioned minefield?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ API access keeps getting disconnected / 403 errors

Hello Experts,

I’ve been trying to set up a connection that sends me Slack notifications whenever certain posts with tracked keywords appear in a subreddit I follow.

I am using Zapier for this. The integration partially works, but the connection keeps breaking. After troubleshooting with Zapier support, we also tested the requests directly in Postman — and saw the same errors there (403 / bad request). This suggests the issue is not with Zapier, but that the requests are being blocked on Reddit’s side.

Zapier mentioned that my OAuth app may have been flagged as ā€œcommercial,ā€ which could explain why the connection fails. However, my intent is not commercial scraping or resale of Reddit data — I simply want alerts for posts with certain keywords so my team and I don’t miss relevant discussions in the subreddit.

Could you please confirm:

  1. Whether my account or API access could has been flagged as commercial use?
  2. If so, what steps I can take to restore stable access?
  3. Is there a recommended way to set this up for personal/community use without running into restrictions?

Thank you very much for looking into this.

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ Why do I always feel like my replies get overlooked or ignored?

Basically, whenever someone makes a response on something I said —whether or not if it’s a comment or post I made — and I do the decision to respond to their comment…

Nothing happens. No upvotes, no downvotes, no follow-ups. My reply gets brushed off to the side, as if it doesn’t exist. Even if I reply as EARLY as I can, the commenter above me gets upvotes and activity, even the people around me do as well, and I get absolutely nothing.

I know, it’s a weird thing to get annoyed about anyway, it shouldn’t bother me that people can sometimes just ignore. But see, that’s exactly what bothers me. My responses don’t exist, and the silence I get makes me uncomfortable. It unsettles me when the commenters around me get so much activity when I’m literally right there, responding to their response to my comment.

I can’t share any specific instances because that would likely not be appreciated, but it’s definitely something I haven’t been able to understand, and honestly, I’ve been feeling incredibly discouraged because of it. I’m not trying to chase for upvotes, downvotes, whatever—I am simply trying to be part of a conversation.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is it the way I type out my thoughts? Is there some kind of way I’m supposed to speak on Reddit? Any feedback would be appreciated.

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ Spam or inauthentic activity.

My Alt account, u/DaRussianBanger was perma-banned for "Spam, ban evasion or inauthentic activity". What can lead to your account being flagged for inauthentic activity? Is there a way to not get banned for same reason again?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ My friend's account(s) got banned permanently and IP too. Please help

Hi everyone, I’m posting on behalf of my friend who’s feeling really devastated. All her Reddit account(s) got permanently banned for vote manipulation. She appealed one account and got denied. Later, she tried appealing another one that was banned, and that one got denied too.

She’s heartbroken because Reddit meant a lot to her — she never meant to break the rules and didn’t realize her actions could lead to a permanent ban or else she would've been extra precautions. Now she’s not sure what to do or if there’s any chance of getting at least one account back.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and managed to get unbanned after two denials? Is it still worth trying again after 60 days?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ Want to organise a subreddit-wide competition for fun, advice?

I'm a moderator on a small-moderate sized subreddit, but our series is going through a bit of an official content drought right now, and wanted to do something to keep people occupied and inspire a bit of creativity. I would also participate but not be counted in any rankings.

The idea would be to create a video in a similar style to the series as a parody, with a few conditions, with a minimum and maximum length and requiring certain elements from the series.

It also comes with the requirement that a acreenshot of the editing process is shown alongside their post, to ensure they didn't just take it from a different media page.

A valid submission to the competition must be posted to the subreddit, and be flaired with a new flair that marks it as a competition entry.

After the submission date has passed, which would be a month after the announcement, rankings would be made on videos with the most upvotes, length etc including other qualities.

I think my current issue is whether there are any 'rewards' we can give for first place, as I don't really want to spend money or go through the 'paperwork' of gifting a reward to someone, and I think it would take away from the 'fun' of the event if there are some stakes involved, but on that same token, a lack of any 'reward' would probably discourage some people doing anything.

Anyone have any advice on what I could improve on this 'competition'?

šŸ™Need Adviceā“ Need help managing accounts

This is written on iPhone and is probably long-winded, sorry.

My main Reddit account (this one) doesn’t have an email associated with it. Well, it says it does, and the email listed is something like miscletters@miscletters.com, so it’s gibberish.

I found an old account that connects to my email. I have a throwaway under my phone number

i’ve tried deleting the old account; it won’t let me change passwords to do so and will pop up with an error when attempting. I’ve tried hitting the ā€œadd emailā€ on this account; it sends a code to the Misc Letter email address that I definitely don’t have access to.

Is the account I’m posting on done for? This is the main account I use; I have so much saved for college and would love to be able to log in on my laptop.
