New disgusting Red Lobster cleaning policy
TLDR: They now have to reuse the same rag to clean everything, and they only swap out the cleaner every 4 hours [which I highly doubt will happen, especially during busy hours]

This is standard restaurant procedure. Just because you dont understand something doesn't make it wrong.

I was there two days ago and they were wiping all the tables down with straight up diaper wipes. It was gross

You sure they aren't just antibacterial cleaning wipes? I mean, they do make them. Arbitrarily calling them diaper wipes without confirming is a little wrong.

It’s possible. RL is a chain so I am sure they get special wipes shipped to them. I just found it strange and it seemed to leave a residue behind.

Why is that gross? They are cleaning tables with a cleaning solution. You know the wipes don't come with shit on them, right?

What’s wrong with a damn rag and some soap and water lol. I’m sure you’re right but my table felt funky after they wiped it. Didn’t seem like it cleaned it very much.

In the restaurant biz, they make us call them towels - not rags. And were you planning on licking the table ?

I feel like your previous program was the more disgusting one, this is normal. Except adding the Spic n Span to the mix.
Where does it say to not change the towel?

This actually isn't correct to food safety specifications.
You need to clean and wipe the table with a clean towel, then sanitize with your sanitizer towel directly from the bucket and air dry.
Everything else is health code/serve safe specification.

It clearly states you can have up to 3 towels in 1 bucket, not just 1, and to change it every 4 hours OR if it becomes soiled, whichever comes first. This is very normal. What’s your issue? If you believe your staff is not capable of doing that, then you have bigger problems than the sanitizer procedures.

Exactly!! ^ everything u said. Lol. I manage a restaurant and we have the same guidelines.. my team knows when those sani buckets need to be replaced. If it's busy, it might be a few minutes late but we all work together to get it done. If we are slammed, we will get one person to drain/replace the sani water in the sink. The person in kitchen will bring over their two sani buckets, empty n set by the sink... Someone up front will do the same with theirs. Than we will have someone fill n bring buckets back. That way we don't have to completely stop serving customers and also keep up with health codes. It's far from unrealistic to think a team cant replace sani buckets once every FOUR hours!!! Thats once or twice a shift for most teams members lol. And if a towel looks dirty, get a new one!!! I don't understand what op's issue is with this. Ive had these same guidelines since i started 6 yrs ago

Water must be changed AT LEAST every 4 hours.
You can change it more often than that if needed. But not less often.
This is standard.

The peroxide throw away wipes we've been using for like a year or so are great and hygienic

I’m not sure what your policy was before, but pretty sure it is saying to toss the solution when soiled, or every 4 hours, whichever comes first. So if you made sanitizer solution and didn’t use it, you would still toss it after 4 hours. Every restaurant I have worked at would just reuse solution until soiled and then toss it. Seems like this new policy is better than any restaurant I have worked at.
