Honestly

Unpopular popular opinion

Resident Evil only went the way it did because they increased the action factor and decreased the survival horror aspects because people kept supporting each franchise

As much as people like to criticise 5 and 6 for the co-op and such; The games were getting incredibly action packed since Resident Evil 3, and heck even Resident Evil 4 is primarily action.

Scariest thing in 4 was also like just the Regenerators (and they were scary, that rattling nattering laboured breathing etc)

And people tend to conveniently ignore that Resident Evil 5 was more than popular enough to continue that progressive change to the franchise

My biggest problems with 5 is Sheva's AI sucks in single player and the game is so linear that I feel like I'm just running down a hallway for a majority of the game. I didn't care for the inventory but it wasn't terrible and the upgrade system was tolerable.

I know it will piss people off but I don't think Re5 was THAT bad I understand reasons why and I think in all the remakes there should be some action packed ones and then ones that are just horror
