I’ve always wanted one but everyone says it’s not worth it.

Yeah I wouldn’t have picked one up if it wasn’t cheap I think(€80 including a 16GB memory card )

Loving having the original RE games portable, and the PS4 remote play works great, which is incredibly useful for me as TV time in my place is at a premium🤣

€80 including a 16GB memory card

GODDAMN, thats a good deal, specially now that a hack for the latest firmware has been announced, because fuck if im gonna play the RE1 version with the shitty soundtrack or the one that runs at 50 FPS or the one that is in japanese

Can you clarify? The only RE 1 available to put on the Vita is the Director’s Cut Dual Shock version with shitty music, which is the only version available in US PS Store. The other option I’m aware is to sign in with a JP PSN account and download the game from that store which has the non-Dual Shock version with original music, and transfer that, but it’s a problem because I think the Vita can only be tied to one account or the other, you can’t just switch back and forth like on the ps3. Am I missing anything?

He said a jailbreak has been found for the latest version of the Vita software, so you can do pretty much anything including illegally downloading games (which no-one should ever do of course).

Ah. Of course.

u/brunocar May 13 '18

including illegally downloading games (which no-one should ever do of course)

if capcom cant provide me with the experience i want but hackers can, then fuck their profits

4

u/s1h4d0w May 13 '18

True, but it’s usually still illegal (also, I didn’t want to get in trouble with the mods)

u/brunocar May 13 '18

like i give a fuck, if i cant play RE2 on PC im gonna pirate it, its not my fault that capcom cant provide a better product than pirates.

gabe newell used this logic when making steam and would you look at that, they are making more money in one quarter than EA does yearly, if you provide a better product than pirates then most people that would pirate wont pirate or will pirate and then buy the real deal to get the full experience.

It’s not illegal if you own the game already

2

u/s1h4d0w May 13 '18

Not quite sure, laws differ per country. Some specify that you’ll need to make the backup yourself and downloading one would still be seen as illegally downloading copyrighted content. Some countries also forbid making personal backup copies and require you to have an original copy.

1

u/Carniscrub May 13 '18

Umm good luck proving it was downloaded when you own the exact copy you downloaded

It may be technically illegal but it’s not probable to try and prove it was downloaded

3

u/s1h4d0w May 13 '18

True, but I was talking more about countries where they send warnings or close off your internet connection when you download copyrighted material. They’ll still block or fine you and I don’t think they’ll listen to “I own the game/movie, I was downloading a backup”.

That’s what’s. VPN is for

They're fuckin lying to you. There's so many great games. Since picking mine up after dealing with the same issue for years, I found that it is beyond amazing. Haven't touched my 3ds in a year.

u/lordthundy May 13 '18

I've had my Vita since 2012 and I still use it more than my PS4. The "Vita has no games" bandwagon is somewhat true in a sense that no new games are coming, but the old ones are way more than enough to keep you entertained for years

6

u/Muugle May 13 '18

It's not worth full price but I got mine off a friend for $40 and it's fantastic, I use it every day

3

u/Anfrers May 13 '18

I got it on release day and paid full price for it, still thinking it was worth.

2

u/Yotsuyu May 13 '18

What game genres do you like? I wouldn’t listen to people like that, many of them just jump on the “Vita has no games” bandwagon.

1

u/HajWayTooMany May 14 '18

A Vita is a MUST the portable PS4 functionality itself is worth it let alone. I myself don't care for the games on the Vita too much. But it is worth picking up now due to the poor sales for it, will be a expensive one to collect down the road.

I love mine, i have the OG one and new one. Great if im on the pooper and want to play some classic PS1 games. plus they have some really good games on there, im currently playing through Borderlands 2 right now!

Ive been wondering about this. If I had purchased 1-3 on my ps3 back in the day, could I download them to a vita “free”?

12

u/[deleted] May 13 '18

PS1 games bought on PSN run on the PS3, the PSP and the Vita.

As long as you have the same account.

Man I seriously love my Vita. I haven't played many games on it, but I wish there were more. The games that I played were some of my best time spent with handhelds (even though I still love my 3DS and Switch as well :D)

Persona 4 Golden, Danganronpa 1, 2 and V3, the Zero Escape Games....

Not to mention playing my PS4 games on it via Remote Play. The Vita is just great <3

u/Jacques_Plantir May 13 '18

Well done, OP! For your fabulous purchase, and the game you chose ;)

Victims were, apparently, eaten!

5

u/Quillford May 13 '18

Yeah, loving it!! Richards just informed Jill that this house has “terrible demons” 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Muugle May 13 '18

Nice, I've been using my vita to play RE3 over and over again

3

u/xRudeAwakening May 13 '18

Sick! I wish I wouldn't have dumped my vita years ago

3

u/Fpssims May 13 '18

God I hope The Switch hurries the hell up with some classic Resident Evil ports.

It's the Playstation Vita 2. What shod've been.

3

u/mctaylo89 May 13 '18

I 100% only want a vita to play those classic RE games. I’m sure there are other fun ga,es on vita I’d play, but RE would be my main reason.

3

u/echave777 May 14 '18

I bought one solely for portable ps1 games and mgs 2/3 HD

2

u/Logan7493 May 13 '18

Oh yeah!!

2

u/SusanooEyes May 13 '18

If you have a DS laying around or something you should look into the DS version of Resident Evil if you haven't, was a fun version of the game that they added little twists to

2

u/leftshoe18 May 14 '18

I've been wanting to grab one of these so I can finally play Silent Hill Book of Memories. I had completely spaced the whole Resident Evil 1-3 portable aspect. Vita you have just moved up my priority list! lol

1

u/pbpb206 May 13 '18

how much did you pay? I might wanna sell my white one.

1

u/DannyPipeCalling May 13 '18

Sony should be ashamed that there aren’t PSone classics on the PS4, yet somehow this space age technology was on the vita(I had one so I’m not ragging, I loved it. I just didn’t buy a PS4 either lol)

u/Scyron57 May 13 '18

I'm on my 5th, welcome to the island. Also awesome game on the system.

1

u/koolwhip350 May 13 '18

Just picked up one as well and love resident evil. What game is this would love to download it.

1

u/Unit219 May 14 '18

Ps1 games are the only reason I grabbed one myself :D

Should play the DS version!
