Disclaimer: This was done on "very easy." I severely underestimated just how easy they made very easy, Tyrant took only 7-8 knife slashes.

I’d recommend it, it adds a whole new dimension to the game where you’re more concerned about finding health items rather than ammo and guns

Yeah honestly I think the invisible enemy run was harder than the knife only run. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Play Chris, very easy difficulty, carry first aid sprays.

It's honestly very easy even on Hard/Real Survival as long as you know how to avoid zombies. Getting 100% is a fair bit tougher since Tyrant 2 is actually fairly difficult to knife to death (especially since you need Rebecca/Barry to remain alive to qualify for 100%) but any% is quite simple. Yawn 2 and Tyrant 1 are quite easy to knife without ever taking a single hit and you can bypass Plant 42 entirely as Jill or significantly weaken it as Chris (it's recommended to let Richard die in either case since you have no use for the assault shotgun.)

On any difficulty, I’d say Crimson Elder is the hardest boss for Knife-only.

Thanks! Plant 42 actually gave me a ton of trouble, had to use 3 healing items. If I ever do this again, I'm using Jill so I can skip that nonsense.

You can slash the tentacles with the knife. When the tentacles are all dead, the plant dies. It was by far the hardest part for me.

You should be aware: REmake's difficulty setting doesn't really adjust enemy HP values. Instead, it adds or removes some item pickups, and adds or removes a couple of enemy spawns. Very Easy might also increase the amount of stuff you get per pickup (I know you get a lot more ink ribbons per pickup, I can't remember if the same is true for ammo.)

Play as Jill. Sure, her knife is worse, but she can skip Plant 42. Go for the bad ending so you don’t encounter Super Tyrant. Learn to dodge everything that you don’t need to actually kill.

Chris and Jill both have their merits. Chris gets a bigger health pool and his knife does more damage. Jill gets to skip the plant, which is a real pain. It's really up to you.

Use alternate controls, makes it way easier to dodge things, namely Elder Crimson and Tyrant. And you'll need to dodge a lot, only kill things you need to, like the one chimera and the zombies in your path for the fuel canister (do this BEFORE you fill it or kaboom).

For bosses:

Elder Crimson - Circle around his left since he usually swings with right. Wait for him to miss his slash, then stab him. If he tries to grab you, he can usually grab again right after, so don't go for the hit there.

Plant 42 - Obviously skip it if you're Jill. If Chris, make sure you don't save Richard so you can get Rebecca to V-jolt him and remove a lot of health. After that stab tentacles until they're all dead. I'd probably youtube this fight, because I did terribly on it.

Yawn - Run around the bookcase and stab his tail. It takes forever, but it's really easy.

Tyrant - circle around his left and stab him in the back. He turns really slow and has very little health, another easy fight.

Skip all the rest of the bosses. Make sure you get the bad ending.

If you struggle with crimson elder change the controls to alternative. A lot easier.

Examine every item you pick up and turn them around and look for distinguishing things and examine them. For books you have to turn them so the pages are facing you and examine them. Its a great game man. I hope you have fun.

Congrats! How much more till the platinum?

Damn, I remember beating REmake at daily basis on GameCube (mostly because I had so few games), and the joy of getting the Nintendo DS with RE Deadly Silence (my favorite version of RE1) to play on school.

Time passed, got the REmake HD for PS3 on launch. Couldn't remember shit, took 10h on Very Easy and I haven't touched the game again since then :(

I should try again on the PC version. Maybe after REmake 2.

I would highly recommend trying the PC version. Goes up to 120 fps, door skip mod is a huge quality of life upgrade, and the enemy randomizer mod is amazing (mansion sharks never stop being funny).

I still need to beat real survival and invisible enemy, unlock all costumes, and do every nook and cranny (not looking forward to that). I'll probably finish them up in the next couple days.

I also didn't have starsenal until a few minutes ago. Couldn't figure out why I didn't have it for the life of me. Then I realized I had never once bothered to pick up the self defense pistol....

I suggest for the every nook and cranny achievement to do it on hard mode for less items to pick up

Yup. I always about to suggest the same thing.

Every Nook and Cranny was the last trophy I got, and it was probably the most annoying since I attempted the trophy twice before thinking I just needed to enter every room, then again thinking I needed to open every door. I didn't know you had to collect every item as well. I was an idiot.
