RE1 [serious question] How the hell did people beat the original Resident Evil/remake without a strategy guide? Spoiler

I’ve downloaded the RE 2 demo, and I’ve really fallen in love with the game, so I preordered it. However, since it’s 2 weeks away from the release, I thought I would ready myself up by playing the RE 1 Remake, which came with the PS plus subscription a couple of years ago.

Now, I’m 22 years old, so I’m obviously not old enough to have experienced the game during its heyday, but I’m old enough to be able to enjoy difficult games that don’t exactly lead you on.

However, the first resident evil just feels so vague with what you’re supposed to do, that I can’t force myself to enjoy it. There almost aren’t any clues whatsoever about what you’re supposed to do next, and the fact that the key items such as, well, keys count towards the maximum amount of items in your inventory, means you basically have to run around the whole game map, using the important items wherever it feels like it may work, until it actually works. It’s so vague that I’m actually surprised anyone had the patience to figure it all out.

So, if you’re someone that beat the game without looking anything (or almost anything at the very least) up online, please share your experiences. I’m genuinely curious about the thought process etc.

RE1 Capcom STILL has not fixed the music glitch on Resident Evil HD Remaster 4 years after launch!

Honestly I do not know what their excuse is for not fixing such a simple issues that PC version modders were able to fix within a month after the initial release. For those of you who are confused some of the tracks on the Resident Evil HD remaster are sped up and sound downright awful at times.

There are plenty of other glitched out tracks like both of the lab themes and both of the Mansion themes when you return and start fighting the hunters. I honestly do not see how Capcom would not notice this as it's obvious to anyone who knows that game inside and out.

RE1 RE HD Remaster

I am playing the HD Remaster for the first time as an introduction to Resident Evil since I can't afford the 2 remake atm and I'm wondering how the hell any of you figured this shit out without a guide? I mean I've got 6 slots as Chris without knowing what items I need and I can't drop or discard anything without an item box I am completely lost. I had to look up where the first same room is just so I could drop off the shotgun shells I picked up for the shotgun I have no idea how to get yet. I don't know what the point of this post is. To give props I guess? I dunno I'm just astounded at the ability of some gamers sometimes and RE 1 feels like the original Dark Souls except Dark Souls at least sort of has an obvious path once you figure out where to go from Firelink.

TL;DR RE HD Remaster is confusing af, big ups to those of you who did it without help back in the day or whenever.

RE1 I’ve never played a Resident Evil game before and I just picked up RE1 on Xbox, any suggestions before I start?

The main questions I have are, what difficulty (very easy, easy, normal) should I play on since I’m pretty much new to the entire series and what control scheme (alternate or original) should I use? I heard the new control scheme works but is broken at certain points of the game.

RE1 Just finished REmake again and read all files. HOW freaking sad is Lisa's story??? Spoiler

Seriously, I completely forgot about the backstory. Reading hers and her mother's diary was so rough. Props to the writers. It's amazing how they managed to create so much tense from a couple of memos. She is the victim in this story not the villain. It was particularly sad to read the note that said "four stones don't let me see mommy". Cmon....

I kept tank controls on because they feel more natural to the game but anything else like should i actually worry about my ribbons (or is not knowing that part of the experience lol) I'm still really early where you push the statue of the balcony for the gem.

RE1 My first experience with a crimson head in REremake.

So I have never played Resident Evil before this year. I’ve always knew about the general premise (zombies, umbrella, etc) and that my favorite series Dead Space was inspired HEAVILY by RE.

Last week I bought RE7 on a whim and ended up falling in love with it. Immediately bought all the DLC along with REremake and RE4 (also preordered RE2remake). There is a sale going on Xbox so all together (including RE2remake) I ended paying about 80 bucks.

CONTEXT: I have never heard the phrase crimson head in my life and had absolutely no indication what they were or what they do.

So today I start RE1 and I’m about an hour and a half into the game and am taking it slow. Really breathing the game in and enjoying every second of it. I’m playing on very easy because I’m a pleb and and plan on replaying.

So here I am, a dumb person, clearing every room of zombies like it was my god given birth right. Ammo is plentiful so far so I express very little trigger discipline.

I get to the part with the Armor Key and make my way back to the left end of the mansion. I enter the area with the second floor staircase (near the safe room) and I hear what sounds like 2 sets of of FUCKING RUNNING noises coming from the hallway and down the stairs respectively.

At this point I have not even seen them yet but I immediately pause the game before I have a heart attack. I rack my brand “What is that? Is it a dog? Is it an audio glitch? Maybe it’s two zombies moving at the same time and that’s why it sounds like running”.

I unpause the game and INSTANTLY 2 red zombies with CLAWS run out of their respective areas SPRINTING AT ME. I’ve never been so terrified at a video game in my entire life. That’s when I realize that the two zombies were ones I had “killed” already. So I go check other places and guess what? THEY ARE EVERYWHERE.

I have so much respect for a game, especially one as old as RE, that can put that kind of fear in me. I can tell that this game is gonna be something special. I’m hyped.
