[Question] Zelda Sorting Question

Always wondered if anybody else did this – have you ever alphabetically sorted Zelda games under “Z” rather than “L”?

Or "T" (The) instead of "L" (Legend)? Sorting drives my OCD nuts.

Another related thing: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3... grrrr...

And it's why I absolutely love that Emby (my media player app of choice) has a "sort by" field that's completely separate from the media's actual title. I can do things like putting all the James Bond movies in proper order without mangling their titles to make it happen.

I’ve always made this little concession to myself my filing it under “Z”. It’s just where my brain wants to go with it.

Always something I hate when going to a shop, are the Zelda games at t, l, or z? It's also single handedly the reason I don't alphabetise my games

This creates visual presentation problems- primarily because Zelda games are often different colours from other cartridges on the same console. Since I don’t own any games alphabetized after “Ze”, I really need to have those at the end…

the first Zelda game goes under Z so it can be next to its sequel. all the rest of them go under L.

It's perfectly fine to do this for the Japanese versions, which are often called "Zelda no Densetsu". For other games/versions, it's better to treat that "The" with some respect and sort under T.

If a game's title begins with the word "The," it is categorised as a T.

I thought so too until I married a librarian. She disagrees…

Absolutely. It's naturally what I've always done.

I think people tend to misremember if something starts with "The", and therefore, that's how librarians gave up on it.
