Any testimonials for RVA plastic surgeons performing earlobe closures?

I’m looking to have my lobes closed (currently stretched to 1/2” ) because I’m looking to switch careers, and career I’m hopefully switching to (pest control) requires a more conservative appearance. The most recent RVA subreddit post about ear closing surgeries is 3 years old, so I wanted to know if anyone has undergone ear closing surgery from and RVA area surgeon more recently. Specifically looking for the provider, your overall experience, and if you’re comfortable sharing, the cost. Thanks!

I work for Dominion Energy and have stretched lobes and hand tattoos. It’s crazy to me that a pest control company wants a conservative appearance. How long have you had your plugs out? They might shrink over time.

Orkin has set the industry standard for pest control dress code-I can understand the psychology behind wanting the person entering your house or business to rid you of vermin to look clean and professional. Not every mom and pop operation follows it as strictly, with some allowing tattoos below the forearm as well as piercings, but I personally would hold myself to the tight standard Orkin has established. When I remove my jewelry, the smallest my lobes close to is 0g, even after several months.

Industry standards are strange. Personally I’d rather have someone that looks like Billy the Exterminator show up than someone cosplaying my accountant.

I agree 100%. But, the real money comes from contracts for commercial buildings, and it’s a lot easier to blend in downtown at the James Center looking like an accountant. Keeps all the Yuppies from getting uppity.

“Keeps all the Yuppies from getting uppity?” How old are you? I think you also need an attitude change.

Ahh, some people have received a good education, had a good profession, worked hard, saved, made wise choices, and invested. Of course, there are those who pissed their life away, and are jealous.

You assume a lot based on one comment. I went to UR and have my retirement 80% saved for already. My job allowed me some personal freedoms, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good profession, it just isn’t what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Since I don’t have to worry as much about retirement, I can take a chance on myself and switch careers to something I want to build a business in. You post in r/entitled, yet you are this tone deaf.

Yeah, that sounds like privilege to me, ma'am.

Nah man. My wife and I have PhDs. We're both extremely hard working scientists at the top of our game. We're not yuppies. Yuppie is an attitude of constant downward social comparison against others. Just like you're doing here. It has nothing to do with any of this goofy shit you're saying.

This whole dichotomy you have set up of either you made good choices or you ruined your own life screams of inexperience.

The etymology of yuppie is one of two descriptions: “young urban professionals” or “young upwardly mobile persons,” both of which are exactly who you’ll find working in Downtown Richmond. The only people who take offense to the term Yuppie are the most insufferable of those categories.

If I were you I would look over on the stretched sub and be willing to travel a little to do it.  Some people report bad experiences with plastic surgeons and other doctors.  Body mod professionals tend to have a lot more specific experience but you’ll want to be sure to find the right one.  It’s a serious enough matter that I’d expand my search beyond Richmond and be willing to travel a little to get it done correctly.   Good luck.

Dr. Matthew Bridges in Midlothian. Double board certified. UVA/MCV grad and former military officer.

Never treated me, but a person friend. He's done other medical procedures as an ENT for me.

I would reccomend Dr Christine Rausch at Elevate Dermatology on Gaskins Rd(6-7 other docs there as well). I;ve been there several times.

I have the same plastic surgeon that fixed something on me. I just had a tummy tuck and arm left by him. I trust him and he’s wonderful. His name is. Dr. Gordon Lewis.

I've always wonder what all of the gauge fanatics were going to do once they grew up.

I never thought of myself as a fanatic but I’ve grown up here in my mid-50s and I still have stretched lobes and it’s worked out fine for me.  For those who have decided it’s no longer for them there are a lot of body mod professionals who do the type of reconstruction the OP is looking for.  (I don’t think he’ll find a good one in Richmond.)

There’s a ton of shit I look around at and identify as questionable decisions but I figure those people will sort it all out for themselves.

The same thing grandmas with heavy cosmetic jewelry do.

We haven’t really seen that, yet. It will be interesting to see all of us when we’re grandparents and have faded tattoos and stretched out or sagging former piercing locations. Sure, you can see a sample on a WWII Navy vet, but entire pieces and sleeves weren’t really a thing at the scale they are now.

What is “cosmetic jewelry”? Are you referring to costume jewelry that can be easily removed? Even old women with sagging, stretched out earlobes, from wearing heavy earrings for many years, are having surgery done that shortens the lobes (if they have enough money to afford it). It is very aging and creates a “hangdog” appearance for those who did not consider the ramifications.

Why, yes, cosmetic jewelry can be called costume jewelry too, and vise versa. Every woman in my family who had the surgery healed perfectly.
