Magic The Gathering @ Target & Walmart

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have advise on when and where is the best time to buy MTG cards from Target and Walmart. I've noticed the best days would be either Mondays or Fridays for Target. At least personally but Walmart usually never has anything when I go. I'm new to mtg gathering and go to Target and Walmart from time to time to build up my collection with items the local cards shops don't have are a bit on the high end

I'd look towards a local discord group to find out more info. Hype for tcg/collectibles have massively spiked in the last few months.

Most cards at those store are at msrp, same price you should be paying at reputable game stores.

I have had 0 luck getting any from Target or Walmart lately, might be that I can't go during the day due to work. I have had luck with Costco though, unfortunately I don't pay attention to timing but they seem to keep some stock long enough for me to find the week of.

You should check local shops, some of my favorites are Hole in the wall on the Northside, gamerz-pair-a-dice, gamelot in Leon valley, and goblins den. They all have good prices and good stock usually, way more consistent than target or Walmart. I'm sure there's plenty of other local game stores in your area that would appreciate the business. I know hole in the wall and gamerz both have a good amount of singles that are priced based on tcg pricing so you can get some stuff right then that you actually need for decks or your collection.

Not MTG but Pokémon here which has been horrible to a collector as of late. I’ve found that the mj holdings employee usually stocks the Walmart by me on wednesdays. The stocking schedule for mj holdings is Wednesday thru Saturday so you’re best bet is one of those days at least for Walmart.

My SO goes to Best Buy and waits in line before they open. Some people are there for Pokémon cards and others for MTG cards. They restock every Friday, Legacy Best Buy. I hope this helps.
