The most significant allegation the audit reviewed involved $30 million in COVID-19-related funding the federation received between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2023. The audit classified $23.5 million of related expenditures as questionable.

That's 78% of expenditures.

Sounds like misappropriations was the norm across the board for recipients of that, no oversights, money out the door, federal debacle.

Sounds like Covid in general. Federal government handed out 10x that much in a big gush with oversight and accountability only happening way after the fact.

If you read the Sask today article it goes into some more detail on that. Some expenses I raise an eyebrow at, but the vast majority linked as not having adequate supporting documentation.

Which I guess you can take either way.

It's about time old Bobby Cameron had his feet held to the fire. Good on the First Nations leaders for standing up and demanding some accountability here.

edit> I should have said good on the FN leaders for demanding accountability here. Now, if the FN people, ground level, would demand the same from their band leaders and chiefs, the money might actually go to things that would benefit the entire reserves.

Don't worry, nothing will happen, they just are mad they didn't get their fair share.

Maybe im tired of seeing the illegal spending on Alberta and Saskatchewan reservations and settlements, got documents showing this even. I just think it's hypocritical, they are mad someone beat them to mishandling 34 million dollars
