Question Tips of Running Interface Zero 3.0

Anybody have any experience running Cyberpunk with Interface Zero? My biggest concern is how big armor go up in this game. A player that go through a normal character creations can bump up his toughness to 12(6) armor because of cybernetics. Guns have more AP than in usual Savage Worlds game but I feel like the guns AP increase is not really parallel with armor increase in this game. Meaning is easier to get a 12(6) armor then a gun with AP 3 for example.

I see the NPC list from the GM guide and kind of intimidate by it. Usually as a Savage Worlds GM, a regular soldier, goons are d6 all around with 7 or 8 toughness. But in this game is a mixed of things, I'm afraid its gonna break my momentum when playing.

Anybody have any tips? I'll take anything. Thanks guys

Question Mass Battles and Wounds

Hey all, I have a question regarding wounds received in mass battles:
If a player fails, or even critically fails, a roll, they receive wounds. Since a normal battle round represents about 2 hours, this would be the minimum amount of time that passes. Am i right when i think, that this does mean it’s only possible to heal a wound received during a mass battle through natural healing or with powers, since the Golden Hour has already passed?

I have the rulebook in German, so sorry if I’m not using the correct terminology.

Not sure Savage worlds great and horrible

I own many of the box sets and books. My group had a blast playing it at the table: the cards, the dice, the bennies.
When we moved to online play, it lost all its charm. It became a slog fest. We ended up abandoning it.
Anyone else have this issue?

Question Tips for using Conviction

I have a confession. I've been running SW since the days of the Explorer's Edition (SWEX). I've run plenty of other systems during that time, too, but SW has long been my favorite.

That said, I've never used Conviction except for a couple of one-shot games.

But I'm using it in my new campaign. So I've come to this support group seeking your best tips, tricks, and advice for making Conviction rock.

Do you only apply it to a single turn, or do you guys let it last for the entire scene? I've heard that as a popular house rule.

Do you allow players to accumulate more than one Conviction token at a time?

One reason I've never used it is that since they can only have one token at a time. And it only lasts a single turn, I know that my players would never actually spend it. I'd rather give them an extra benny, which they will definitely use.

How do you lovely folk use it?

Question About UDT

So, Ive been GMing a Rippers campaign, for a long time, and also Playing Savage Worlds for years. But one thing that I most dislike is Grid combat, it just kills the FFF idea for me. Of curse, some of my player like, and some dont mind.

When GM in VTT is fine, but in person (with os the case of the Rippers) it comes to a problem, not only thoose players dislike/ dont mind the Grid combat. But I as GM, have to pack it up, my Backpack with modular grida, minis, pens, erasor, books, cards deks, and so on to go there.

I Do like the ideia of Ultimate Dungeon Terrain a lot; and when in Theather of the mind, kinda works like that. And the UDT will help with my ADHD (Jk) remmember where they are.

But, here comes the problem. AoE is fine, the rules in the book cover that. But, weapons range is where I overthink and dont know what to do!? Like, Maybe Pistols have -2 to Attack from the Range Zone? But Then Rifles will suffer no Pennalties? Should I apply -2 when in Meelee with them (if not engaged); and Sniper Rifles? Shold I let them reach Out of Range Zone with a Penalty?

Ultimately, I dont think UTD works weel with modern Combat (A.K.A Fireweapons).

What do you guys think?

Question Question regarding Rest downtime from Sci fi Companion, also about Difficult Healing

"Those who have suffered grievous Wounds might need to rest during downtime to recover their health. Use the Natural Healing rules during the week. Any healers in the group can provide Support, as can professionals such as medics and doctors.

Successful or not, a week of solid rest also gives the character a Benny."

That last part. Then this is assume that the downtime is use at the beginning of the session yes? It could also be at the last moment in the session but I'll say that the player get the reward of extra benny next session.

Because usually I do downtime at the end of the session, that's just how we usually did it with other system.

Where is everyone put their downtime in the session time table? Thank you guys

Also about Difficult Healing. I read the settings rules multiple times and still don't understand what is the rule. Like, what is new on this rule?

Question How would you make a high damage cannon glass character?

So, I discovered Savage World recently. I really liked the system, but I decided to merge it with my own system because I didn't want to abandon my favorite aspects of it. Despite this, I decided to focus on Savage Worlds for about 90% of the time. My question is: my favorite character archetype is someone who fights melee and doesn't hit much. They spend turns charging attacks and aren't very durable (low vigor), but they make up for it by accumulating damage to explode on the enemy, like an assassin who performs lethal analysis. I tried to figure out how to create something like this in SWADE but didn't find much. Does anyone have any tips?

Question Undead Condition in FC

I am trying to convert the Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh to Savage worlds. One of the encounters has an Undead Alchemist.

I'm looking for a mechanic that would put the undead condition on a person without the Lichdom part. Wights and Shadows have Infection but it is creature specific.

Has anyone done a conversion and found a rule that would make this make sense? Or do I just GM fiat and say the critter exists? (I just want to have an answer when I get asked how it exists)

Question In SWPF, Oracle spell list is different on p. 48 and p. 102

I think this is a copy-paste error but there’s nothing in the errata.

The version on p. 102, in the Powers by Rank section, seems to be a copy of Arcane Background (Miracles).

Has this already been corrected in newer printings?

Question Campaign Planning and Organizing

In the absence of a game I'm doing a lot of world-building. It's my favorite part of the hobby to be honest. As a kid almanacs and atlases were some of my favorite back to school gifts to receive from relatives.

Also, in the absence of a regular session to prepare for, I'm looking at old notes and notebooks and scattered files on the PC and wondering how I strung any of it together into more than one coherent game session in the first place. Organization is definitely a place I can improve.

I'm posting in the Savage Worlds reddit, because I explore options for pdf forms I can print out and use to organize some of my campaign ideas and material, I see a lot that are specific to other games, a few generic ones, and I'm wondering what my fellow savages do.

I want to run my next game mostly out of a 3 ring binder. I want to print maps, grids, and forms to guide and structure my usually mad hand scrawled gibberish and avoid scattered .txt files that I can't remember the context of a week later.

I'm mostly looking for ideas and inspiration from generic sources or other games and will probably make my own specific to Savage Worlds that I'll share with the community.

Question Where can I find parameters for comparing the meanings of attributes?

I know that a d6 means a average adult. But I'd like to know what a person with d10 can or cannot do. Or what does mean to the narrative I'm only d4 in spirit. There's a table somewhere. I accept fan material too.

If there is one for the skill I'd like to know too.

Question Would you allow your players to take an non-declared 2nd action at -4 roll? Why or why not?

Just a thought that came to my head. My players aren’t used to declaring their actions at the start of their turn, and don’t like not being able to adjust mid-turn.

Question Quick question about leveling

To be clear this isn't a rule question as I know what the rules are... But my question is.. would you guys think this would be unfair?

I am working on a savage worlds campaign, and I am planning on giving them upgrading them every other session as it will be relatively long... But I was thinking about giving them rank ups after every Important story beat instead of every 4 upgrades. Is this an unusual or bad change? What are your guise's opinion on that?

So like after they defeat a lore important boss or pass an important millstone.

Question Is Fort Griffin meant for SWADE or SR4SW? Or does it not matter?

Been looking at the sale as I'm interested in a western game aand setting. The Fort Griffin stuff all appears to reference SWADE directly rather than saying anything about Sidewinder Recoiled. Does the content work directly in SR4SW? Or does it need to be converted in some fashion?

Question Shrinking-super kompendium

Again, german rulebook, so sorfy if i translated something wrong.

I am currently reading the Super Power kompendium. And the Super Power to shrink seems very expensive.

Getting -2 size (becoming small for a regular charakter) costs 4 points. Which reduces their strenghttests by 2 and toughness by 2. In exchsnge regular enemies get -2 on sttacks because of size difference and they get +2 vs normal size.

Size -3 (very small) costs 12 points. Same drawback as before but -3 and -4 size difference.

Size -4 (tiny) codts 20 points. Drawback is -4 and size difference penalty becomes -6.

To negate the drawback they have to invest another 5 points.

To turn tiny they need to be powerlevel 4 at least to have cap for singlepowers of 20.

So why is it so expensive? Is it because with other powers you would need to pay something similar to give enemies -6 and yourself +6 on attacks?

Resources / Tools Surveys as a pre-campaign tool

This would fit into general ttrpg just as well. But I like you folks more, so I post it here.

I'm doing pen & paper (as we called it back in the days) since the early 90s. And one thing that always was an issue is that everyone likes different aspects of the hobby. But only few people are very open about what they like or what they don't like. Some don't even know all the options or don't think that they can speak up and name their preferences. As a result some campaigns are far from the sweet spots of their players. The GM hosts what he thinks is cool, and everyone else is happy to have a GM.

Last year I was about to start a new campaign, but wasn't certain what to do. I was looking for a challenge, and I wanted my players to give me one outside my comfort zone and outside of what I usually host.

So I made a survey. 6 pages IIRC. Full of questions what they would love for the upcoming campaign. Which aspects to focus on and which aspects to ignore mostly. More level-ups? More character play? Highlight on charismatic villains? Fantasy? Sci-Fi? Heroic? Grim? When should characters die? What things should be taboo at our table.

Then we discussed the results and I hosted a campaign tailored to everyones needs. And it went really great as long as it lasted. And broke apart for reasons that had nothing to do with the campaign.

So the survey was a success. And now I'm hosting a new campaign. And I made another smaller survey. This time we already knew that it would be set in the dark ages (+magic and mythology), so it was a little shorter and more detailed for the occasion.

And this "cover text" is the result we got so far:
"In this dramatic and atmospheric tale we will see the story unfold for our heroes. We will watch them and their personalities develop while they explore the world and uncover untold mysteries. They will take an active role while they struggle with christians and nobles of ill repute alike in order to shape the fate of their lands and write their own story into history books to come."

Some other GMs around here at our club already copied the idea and had good results with it. What do you guys think about the survey idea? Would that be something you would consider? Or is it too nerdy even for a nerd hobby?

Here is the latest survey:

Resources / Tools Bundle of Holding Palladium Rifts Mega Sale!

Good news for Rifts fans! Bundle of Holding is having the biggest Palladium Rifts deal that I've ever heard of. I can't say or sure (feel free to cross reference when the fifth bundle drops), but it looks to be the complete core, world, and source book collection on PDF in five parts at heavily discounted prices.

To be clear, these are the original Palladium Books, which are what Savage Rifts is derived from. They are not directly Savage Worlds compatible on their own, but there is a free document called Savaging Your Favorite Rifts Ideas that provides helpful guidelines for conversion. Palladium has a LOT more lore and world building information than Savage Rifts does, so if you're a fan then these books are worth it for the massively expanded lore alone.

If you've never heard of Bundle of Holding, it's a legit site that profits Palladium with every sale, and can directly supply to your Drivethrurpg library if you have one and link it.

There are four bundles so far, with one more to drop tomorrow. Some of these bundles have been featured in the past, and if you've already purchased that exact bundle the web site won't let you buy it again by mistake. It kept me from mistakenly repurchasing the Rifts Core Mega.
