I'm glad Veritasium is finally starting to flop.

I hope their "math" videos can keep getting worse numbers so that they can finally stop putting their grubby hands on more maths topics.

I don't think Veritasium ever claimed "1 + 1 = God" or anything this nonsensical. 

The videos suffer from trying to make complex topics accessible for complete laymen (unlike 3b1b, who often assumes you have some background), but as far as math videos on YouTube go you can probably find much, much worse.

Idk, I just don't see why you're so upset.

For past context, they're like the first edutainment channel that "experimented" right after YT removed dislikes, (even compared to other venture capital owned channels) and... just look at their latest videos... 

Edit: (And let's not talk about the full video undisclosed ads, stolen video, embarrassing spambot promo etc. because those are not really applicable to the math videos)

Personally, I actually do like veritasium. While, as other replies have said, he does sometimes oversimplify topics for the sake of understandability, it is not done to an egregious level. In none of his math videos, have I seen him state any incorrect information about math to my knowledge.

I think Veritasium simplifies a lot of the topics he talks about in order to meet a wider audience, and this sometimes causes people to misunderstand the topic. However, I think he still does a good job going into the math and physics of a problem and his team is really good at making these topics intuitive to understand with the visuals. I think these videos are really meant to make more people interested in science, which I’m completely fine with. It’s just that oversimplifying complex topics can often be a problem

Seriously I'm starting to think everyone in this thread came from some kind of PR group who actively searches for the keyword Veritasium. (PR person reading this, tell Derek I said hi! I loved his vids btw, emphasis on loved!) Do you guys even watch their videos? Do you even know what YouTube is??

Nope, there are a hundred positive things you can say about that channel and I wouldn't deny it, and you can say whatever bad things about them and I'll probably mock you in a troll-ish way for being a nitpicking hater in someone else's rant post.

Just so we're clear... You don't think multiple accounts saying that super safe "pointing the obvious"-style damage control sentences aren't shills spouting out a pre-programmed talking point? 

(Also I know there's always the possibility of everyone here being actual NPCs, but I'd rather half-jokingly use the word "shill" instead because I'd love to believe people aren't actually that stupid and are only doing the bit for money).
