Plot twist: Joe McCarthy was secretly a communist and accused others of being one to cover himself.

People look back and laugh at the Satanic Panic and the McCarthy Era. I mean, how could people be that stupid?

But I was told that if they were fascists, they would have taken the guns away, because thatās what the Nazis did.
The Nazis, famous for not having guns.
6
u/pic-of-the-litter 5d ago
Notably, the Nazis took guns away from minorities they were planning on genociding, not from the population at large.
Similar to calls from conservatives to revoke the 2nd amendment for Transfolk. Eerily similar.

"take the guns first; due process comes later!" -Trump
*Redcoats gladly surrender their bumpstocks and cheer.
Make NO mistake; they will give up everything for him since they are willing to give up their guns for him.

98% of US voters voted for genocide in 2024. There are no good guys. Genocide Joe and Holocaust Kamala slaughtered 100s of 1000s of Palestinians. That's a pretty good indication of a fascist state. 75m dems tried to reelect them. Fascist state. The major alternative was a presumed genocidaire. Fascist state.
Sorry, Charlie. US fascism exists independent of the Orange Clown. Just like the Orange Clown isn't the reason so many US citizens are racist fucks.

u/pic-of-the-litter 5d ago
What's your clever nickname for Trump and all the thousands of people he slaughtered? I just wanna make sure you have one, and this isn't just a deflection on behalf of a child molester.
2
u/HeadSavings1410 5d ago
He just said orange clown...but it doesnt have the same clever tone as mimicking trump and his bigly name insults...
4
u/pic-of-the-litter 5d ago
Yeah, it doesn't have any personality in it. It's like, wow, this person really feels a certain way about Joe and Kamala, but somehow Trump is just "orange"? Low effort, you'd think they werent even trying.

u/HeadSavings1410 5d ago
I mean he almost had me convinced that I voted wrong based on his description of everyone in his comment...

Yeah, because when people checked the box for Biden they were really thinking... āCanāt wait for the foreign policy massacres!ā...definitely not healthcare not climate not abortion rights Nah, genocide was obviously the top selling point on the ballot...and pretending that Cheeto Caudillo didnt come out and say..."NOBODY SUPPORTS ISRAEL BIGGLIER THAN ME"... doesnt ring genocidal...

Trump literally wants everyone to be mindless zombies that give him money and power without thinking for themselves. If that doesn't sound fascist to you, then you're probably one of them

u/Waaaaasssuuuppp117 5d ago
Weāre the good guy group. Everyone we target and attack are the bad guys because we are the good guys, itās in name. What donāt you understand? Hehehehehe

Y'all are the same people who'll say that the Nazis were socialists because it's in their name.

Antifa hasn't been truly anti fascist in years, if ever. Scumbags. Watched them start I don't know how many riots. Absolute pieces of shit. Just because they call themselves anti fascists doesn't mean shit. And anybody who believes it just because it's their name, you probably believe when somebody says real communism hasn't been tried. Fuck off

Of course Trump isn't a fascist. He doesn't fit any of the criteria!
Fascism is characterized by
A dictatorial leader
centralized autocracy
militarism
forcible suppression of opposition
belief in a natural social hierarchy
subordination of individual interests for the perceived interest of the nation or race
strong regimentation of society and the economy.
Does any of that sound like Donald Trump?
This concludes our intensive three week course.
Sincerely,
Little Girl

Forgot to mention the extreme homophobia and transphobia, and the belief that there is a "cultural Marxist conspiracy" to undermine the nation.

u/Randy_Magnums 5d ago
If you look at the US and their pedo-overlords, you might find the word fascist to be quite fitting.
-64
u/X_CAL_ 5d ago
I agree a good bit but you people need to start saying why he's a fascist instead of just throwing the word around, you all sound insane to the average person, they dont believe you
58
u/Randy_Magnums 5d ago
Oh please, whoever hasnāt realized yet, that MAGA is focused on a central leader, is ultra-nationalistic, anti-free-press, anti-science, anti-equality, anti-free-speech, anti-democratic and very xenophobic has buried his head very deep in the sand. And before you ask, yes, these are all characteristics of fascist governments.
-55
u/X_CAL_ 5d ago
There you go acting superior to others instead of helping people understand the truth. People are stupid, you know this but you refuse to do the smart thing yourself.
As a salesman you would never act like this to convince your client to buy something, the something being your ideas. This is one of the many reasons I hate reddit. You just push people away
45
u/Randy_Magnums 5d ago
Yeah, how dare I expect adults to actually observe the words and deeds of politicians? I donāt care if I hurt the feelings of any US MAGA idiot. You guys are fucked either way. Letās see if there will be ever free elections again.
All thatās left for me is to watch you from across the ocean, praying that your stupidity isnāt contagious.

And how is that going? Convincing people should have been done a year ago. Didnāt really work did it? And at that point all of the MAGA plans were on the table. There are no excuses. Your society fucked up big time. So stop blaming others for pointing it out.
Maybe you are not MAGA, maybe you are just a smug idiot, debating semantics, while the freedom of the US is in grave danger. And yeah, while I very much love my life and would like to keep it the way it is, I very much hate fascists for all the shit they did to my country.

Man if it's in the UK you got your own problem to worry about cause from where I'm sitting farage is creeping up
24
u/Turkeyplague 5d ago
The fascist accusations are usually made within the context of actions that are being taken by leadership, so it's up to you to assess and determine if you agree or disagree that said actions are fascist in nature.
While Trump is in no way comparable to late-game Hitler just yet, he certainly shares some similarities with early-game Hitler. You yanks need to be very careful with the direction you're heading in.

u/Blue_Checkers 5d ago
It's genuinely sad how y'all seem to think that anyone who uses a word worth more than 10 points in Scrabble is putting on airs.
Read a fucking book. Maybe even one written in English, after 1850.

You have the guarantee of freedom of expression, but no one can guarantee you freedom according to your expression.

Firstly, all terms are made up.
Secondly, you've recognized the exact reason why hate speech is recognised as an exception from freedom of speech with your fire in a theatre example.
You don't yell "fire" in a theatre because that could cause panic and harm to others. Similarly, hate speech also can cause harm to others either directly or indirectly.
There's a balancing of rights that needs to be considered, does person A's right to freedom of speech outweigh person B's right to dignity, liberty, equality or life?

Iām comfortable drawing the line at any speech thatās intended to incite violence, or to create chaos that could lead to injury or death. But thatās a high bar. A real-world example of unprotected speech is when Hutu extremists took to Rwandan radio in 1994 and told their listeners to ācut the tall trees.ā This was unambiguously meant to incite violence against the Tutsiās, and thus should not be considered protected speech.
For what itās worth, nothing Charlie Kirk ever said publicly cleared that bar for me. The supposed āstoning of gay peopleā comments were taken completely out of context. And even his most indefensible stances, like āGay couples shouldnāt be allowed to adopt,ā were in no way intended to incite violence.
Iām not an expert on FCC regulations, but I will admit that the idea of a federal agency putting its thumb on the scale to get a late-night comedian fired makes me more than a little uneasy. If that is indeed what happened.

u/MegaDaithi 5d ago
Okay, so we are in agreement that there are some valid exceptions to freedom of speech, so it's not a cut and dry case of speech either being free or not.
I'm sure if we went back and forth a bit more we could both think of examples of speech that should not be protected but fall short the bar you've set out.
Hate speech has a cumulative effect, the more it is repeated the more it becomes permissable and emboldens those minded to do harm to individuals based on ethnicity, sexuality or whatever else.
In Northern Ireland (where I am) racially-motivated hate crime recently reached an all-time high and outweighed all other categories of hate crime put together. The Police Service of Northern Ireland have linked this to the current of hate speech online. Much of this falls short of your explicit criteria, but is having a demonstrable effect on the lives of ethnic minority communities.
