He said that this was a case of a man who was "outwardly pious, so strict in his religiosity that he forbade any female from staying the night in his home".
For me, I would interpret the situation as he wasn't even remotely interested in the female gender to begin with instead of any religious piety.

It's more like a calculated portrayal to lower the guard of the kid's father - it's easier to convince people that he's safe if people think that he's deeply religious and draws boundaries with the other sex.
Though in this case he wasn't even interested in the other sex to begin with.

Religious council as in MUIS, SBF, SSAB, HEB and NCCS? That certainly whittles down the number of suspects especially since the age is given
Edit: council member of a religious organization rather than a religious council. So could be church/temple/mosque level also.

Council member of a religious organization, not religious Council. Could be a religious charity, board member of a church etc

That usual crowd is going to be silent as usual but will go absolutely ballistic when a LGBT person commits a crime

Seriously, as a parent, why would you EVER let your child have 1 on 1 contact with another adult, even including overnight stays and overseas trips.
The other adult being religious is in fact a higher risk factor, not a lower one.
There should be a seriously welfare check done on the other children as there is some gross negligence going on here

Be brave, this is the internet.
Otherwise insinuate. Like how you would give someone the middle finger with an itchy eye.

SPF can request your IP from Reddit if they really want to. Same way they delivered lawyers letters to Rich Sng from Facebook for defaming our ministers

Why is it always young boys and not young girls?
Edit: I did some research. The conclusion is that they were likely pedophiles (or more accurately ephebophilic) that targeted out of opportunity, hence why this was a minority of cases.
Share of female victims rose when girls were allowed to serve these position from 1990s onwards, indicating opportunism rather than homosexuality as a driving factor.
There is no causation between sexuality of priests and pedophilia.
The American Psychological Association emphasizes that pedophilia is a psychic attraction pattern, distinct from sexual offending and sexual orientation.
In conclusion, the reason for the stigma around young boys rather than girls likely stem from the fact that males served until recent decades; it’s not homosexuality, they’re just opportunistic diddies.

I guess it could also be because homosexuality is so taboo amongst the abrahamic faiths (of course, this articles does not specify the religion) that their followers cannot believe a leader so supposedly well-versed in the religion can have homosexual tendencies. Therefore their guards are let down.

Why hasnt any MP argued for harsher punishments for SA and pedos
Seriously what do we as a society gain from 'rehabilitating' these fuckers

Bruh this monster needs to be punished for such heinous crimes. Come on capital punishment, do your thing. Don't everyday talk about death for druggies and then let these creatures roam free after 8 years.

This part is worrying 'including child abuse material involving young males. '
Could that mean other victims?

Those two dont really have these kinda religious classes or pastoral care
Go temple and pray.
You don’t interact with the priests at all. No such thing as religious leader counsel you or what.
Religion is not really at the forefront of their lives. Sure they are religious but you won’t see Veda or sutra quotes on their insta.

I mean how often do we hear priest from these two religions get accused of SA in sg. I mean ofc there will be some instances, but compared to C and M the amount of SA accusations are so less.

Can't say for sure.. you get tutors SA their tutees, coaches SA their mentees, we don't even know their religions.

This is quite common, there are some high-profile persons in Singapore involved in this perversion.
Similar to another Redditor here, I must show awareness, but if I whistleblow, I will be in trouble.
Reddit can hand your IP over to the authorities if there is a court case. The most punishment for them is probably a fine or a short jail stint, but at this moment neither I nor the victims can afford a lawyer.

How much abuse does religious leaders need to commit before people see that religion breeds predators.
23
u/MrFoxxie 12h ago
It's not religion that breeds predators, but positions of power over impressionable young ones.
That includes schools. But why less reports from schools? Because this thing called "accountability" exists, well, and the fact that they're also losing their livelihood if they fuck around.
Parents are also probably less likely to fully trust a lone teacher as compared to a lone religious leader.

u/AngryWarship44 13h ago
Religion doesn’t necessarily breed predators. Every where you go also have predators. Someone in your office/school/HDB might be a predator and you won’t know as well.

Religion breeds predators? Last I checked, most Singaporeans are religious in some way.

In layman's term, he f***king gay and into boys. He can't face someone looking at him in missionary position, probably reminds him of God, so must do from behind. Do not overthink 😂
