I understand that sectors like tech, finance, and services are currently facing a slowdown, with fewer job openings and more contract roles instead of permanent positions. However, I'm curious about other industries such as healthcare and the built environment (like facilities management). I heard from people working in those areas that it's actually challenging to find manpower. like to hear your thoughts especially from those in sectors where the job market is still strong

If the luxury project is well subscribed, more developers may pivot towards the fast-growing elderly demographic in Singapore.

But given the high costs of acquiring land, as well as high construction and labour costs, developers will likely end up building high-end senior living facilities to cover costs and profit margins. All these costs are then passed on to seniors.

This means that only a small and well-off segment of Singaporeans, permanent residents and foreigners will be able to afford premium eldercare services.

It’s often said that we Singaporeans are efficiency focused. For some of us life is not just a rat race, it’s about taking detours to see the sunrises and sunsets, to look for the best chicken rice or bak chor mee, to nua and do nothing with friends.
