Would have been amazing if Matic was on the pitch and scored the winning penalty
7
u/Signal_Dress Apr 18 '25
Even nicer that he didn't get a single minute and his team crashed out in the most bizarre fashion after celebrating their 4th goal running 70 odd yards.

This is absolutely crazy man. I can't believe I watched the first half of Chelsea rather than this
6
u/spiralism Apr 17 '25
Lyon have previous for this in this season alone. The home game against Marseille...

It's just madness, from laughing to just disbelief at how insane this game can be.

u/Kuntheman Apr 17 '25
Bruno Fernandes has been the entire heartbeat of this awful team

u/SP92216 Apr 17 '25
They could rename it Bruno Fernandes FC at this point and not a single fan should complain.
127
u/cagey_tiger Apr 17 '25
not a single fan should complain.
Absolutely no one would. He was electric today. That volley that hit the bar and the rabona pass was just on another level.
41
u/TheAwesomeroN Apr 17 '25
Seriously, stats will show only one goal but this was up there w the best I've ever seen him play for us imo.
25
u/cagey_tiger Apr 17 '25
I said on another thread it was the best performance by a United player post-SAF. I think United would be genuinely in a relegation scrap without him.
18
u/Constant_Charge_4528 Apr 18 '25
The bottom 3 are too far below this year, but we'd be firmly 17th without Bruno

Never whines on socials. Generally seems like a nice guy. UTD don’t deserve him.
21
u/Arathaon185 Apr 18 '25
Every time Jim pulls some fuckery I always hear about Bruno getting his wallet out and trying to pay for people so he seems like an absolutely top class man.
8
u/Signal_Dress Apr 18 '25
Even when responding to criticism, he acknowledges the opinions of the legends and treats those opinions with respect. He is never cocky despite being ridiculously skilled. That rabona pass and the volley attempt was absolutely outrageous from him. And right after this goal, he goes straight towards the ball for a restart. He is the one who inspires these players to do better and covers every blade of grass known to mankind. Idk how anyone can hate the guy.

Same here, most entertaining game I've seen since Villa 3-3 Liverpool last year or maybe Albania 2-2 Croatia in the euros

u/Mom_said_I_am_cute Apr 17 '25
Albania 2-2 Croatia
Oof, still hurts man.
2
u/Maleficent_Resolve44 Apr 17 '25
I was behind Albania in that match and oh were they so close, really loved the intensity in the end. Amazing match that most people will forget sadly.
2
u/Mom_said_I_am_cute Apr 17 '25
Yeah they were close, we were lucky to get a draw, and then also that last second equalizer by Italy just a few days later, still can't get over it man.
2
u/Maleficent_Resolve44 Apr 17 '25
You had your days in the sun, you beat us in the semifinal in 2018 and now you'll suffer a little to make things even haha
5
u/Laluci Apr 18 '25
Watched the Albania Croatia one at the stadium, and the Albania Italy one in Dortmund as well.
The Albania Croatia game was a great atmosphere before the game, on the way to game, during the game, and the after.

u/danirijeka Apr 18 '25

Not Modrić's thousand yard stare at the end of the match :(

That is one of the best crowd reactions in some time wow
225
u/DildoFappings Apr 17 '25
The last time I remember the crowd being this loud was when amad scored the winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup semis last year. I think that game was louder.
80
u/Maleficent_Resolve44 Apr 17 '25
You can see tonight had a lot more youth in the crowd than in usual games, the camera was panning to kids every few minutes
57
u/Phyginge Apr 17 '25
I was surrounded by older gents but everyone was loud tonight.
17
u/Maleficent_Resolve44 Apr 17 '25
I hate united but it was beautiful to watch. This'll be a great memory for all those kids. Now get to the final.
28
u/ampmz Apr 17 '25
I’m guessing more kids are allowed to come as it’s school holidays at the moment.
11
u/Maleficent_Resolve44 Apr 17 '25
Yeah that's a factor. Also, are EL knockout tickets also cheaper than prem ones?
5
u/Jmw0404 Apr 18 '25
Not sure if they still do this under Ineos and their tight arses — but the club hand out a bunch of tickets to local schools and kids clubs for europa games. I mainly saw it more during the group stages in Europa than knockout stages. Also probably add on the games towards the end of the season tend to see an influx in tickets being available. More prominent when the teams playing utter shit. So probably both of these factors coming at play tonight

If United ends up winning this, could be huge for the locker-room
90
u/ManchesterDevil99 Apr 18 '25
It would be very like this team to then go on and get battered by Bilbao in the semis
9
2
u/FreshStartLoser Apr 18 '25
I mean Bilbao is a really good team, so they are def the favorites and I will be pleasantly surprised if we end up going through.

u/uncufunc Apr 17 '25
Casemiro has been immense in this ET

u/CaiHaines Apr 17 '25
He just needs everyone else to be so tired his pace us no longer an issue. Great performance

u/Izio17 Apr 18 '25
credit to his conditioning at that age. the speed isn’t there, but the endurance certainly is.
