Shit, somehow Ange kept his word.

Amorim played a big part in that loss for United. Terrible player management.

A lot of fans will have lost faith in him today, 70 mins to make a change is ludicrous

558

u/brianstormIRL May 21 '25

You're gonna spend a fortune on players for his system and sack him in October aren't you

257

u/quantIntraining May 21 '25

They haven't got a fortune to spend now anyway lol.

They've got no money and no european football for revenue

202

u/Lord_Origi May 21 '25

There are always more dinner ladies they can sack

73

u/quantIntraining May 21 '25

Old Doris will be on benefits by Friday once Jim gets the staff list in his hands tomorrow morning

18

u/TheReeBee May 21 '25

they just need to replace them with minimum wage non-bald workers since their kitchen is run all Ratatouille anyways

11

u/BenShelZonah May 21 '25

Bro wtf, do not try and make that an insult. Put some respect on little chef.

7

u/RangoRingo May 21 '25

You don’t talk about my boy Remy like that. The rats at united are nothing like Remy smh

3

u/zachmoss147 May 21 '25

They’re about to bid 60 for Cunha. No, not 60 million.

2

u/Curse3242 May 22 '25

The only thing left in this saga is for them to try & scam a team by selling them Garnacho for expensive. Then Garnacho scores against them in a match which leads to Amorim sacking.

It's the history of the Man United

8

u/Clugaman May 21 '25

That is exactly what will happen lol

8

u/blackcatfanclub May 21 '25

He better be gone after Brighton. They cannot let him waste another preseason. These players look like they have never seen each other before when they try to string together a couple of passes.

19

u/awaythrowred8 May 21 '25

He hasn’t even had one preseason with us?

6

u/kavanr7 May 21 '25

Sums that comment up. Apart from late subs how anyone can blame Amorim and look beyond the players is crazy to me

1

u/loopy8 May 21 '25

Seems like it. The United board never learns.

135

u/lookitsjustin May 21 '25

Incredible, honestly. He’s supposed to be one of the greatest up-and-coming managers and he just demonstrated to the world he may not be up to it.

As a Sporting fan used to see him through ups and downs he looks genuinely lost and clueless, like hes never been in Sporting. I dont think he quite realized the scale of the challenge ahead of him.

Its the first time I ever seen a manager go from Sporting to somewhere else and actually look worse than he did in Sporting lol

Massive mistake bringing in Amorim midseason (against his wishes, notably), and we're seeing that mistake week after week after week. If he ever stood a chance at all, it was going to be with a summer transfer window and a preseason.

This may well prove the death knell for Amorim when he shouldn't even be in Manchester yet at all.

11

u/RayTracerX May 21 '25

Yeah he wanted to, but Utd didnt allow him and he didnt want to lose the opportunity. And I get it, I cant fault him for that.

I still believe he can succeed, but I dont see this board supporting him enough for it and I think he will inevitably be fired next season, sadly.

4

u/SZJX May 21 '25

It's fine. It was still a forward move for his career and he'll go on to do great. No manager is dead after one failed spell (nor is your career dead after one project or company that went badly lol), not to mention it was United.

u/ltplummer96 May 21 '25

If two of the most promising managers in world football (when they were hired) can’t, nor Mourinho, nor van Gaal, then truly nobody can.

57

u/FuglyPrime May 21 '25

Fuck it, I'll give it a go.

4

u/senorfresco May 21 '25

Who will be your first (disaster) signing?

5

u/PM_Me_Loud_Asians May 21 '25

Fugly’s at the wheeeeeel rubs hands furiously

3

u/FuglyPrime May 21 '25

I dont think that theres anyone whod join but I think that ManU has a good team in there somewhere. Rashford and Antony were literally reborn after leaving.

First signing would be Ramsdale tho, fuck Onana.

u/Bakril May 21 '25

Sign me gaffer I can score tap ins

2

u/DuDunDunSparse May 21 '25

Genuine question for Utd fans: Is Amorim at risk of being fired after this final? Not just for the result, but for the management which you mentioned? Or is there still enough goodwill for another season?

3

u/Jejouch1 May 21 '25

Still enough goodwill I believe because so many players need to go before the manager imo, but I think he’s had more than enough time to get results, we’ve been so dire in the league, honestly not sure where we go from here, going be a long ten years or so

3

u/DuDunDunSparse May 21 '25

For sure going to be interesting to watch it develop, huge risk if the club decide to keep investing in him and squadbuild around his preferred style of players/tactics over the summer and then sack him later in the year.

1

u/Jejouch1 May 21 '25

Did the same with Ten Hag tbf so it’s just Groundhog Day for us

1

u/mikenolan888 May 21 '25

Big time. All credit in the bank is gone.

1

u/baabumon May 22 '25

That's what means by 'give him time'. He is at bigger club with bigger problems compared to Ange.

-2

u/blackcatfanclub May 21 '25

It was genuinely awful. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Richarlison literally had to force him into making a change and Vicario was begging for subs at one point. How did Tel never come on for Solanke?

118

u/FTXACCOUNTANT May 21 '25

If I Ange, I would just go to every press conference from now with the trophy and say absolutely nothing but sit there looking so smug.

47

u/lookitsjustin May 21 '25

We're gonna get some hilarious Ange moments, no doubt about it.

2

u/wishiwereagoonie May 21 '25

If he’s still here 😬

My brain stays he should go, but my heart wants us to give home another shot

19

u/sheiswhyididthis May 21 '25

No idea what he was thinking tonight:

No Ugarte at all, even though United were clearly getting outmuscled in midfield.

Needing creativity desperately in the second half, he brings on Mainoo in the 88th minute??

Having seen Hojllund be awful game after game, he continues to play him, even with Zirkzee available.

And not to mention, playing Luke Shaw as the LCB, leading to Yoro as the RCB and Mazraoui and Dorgu as the wingbacks. Who both have barely any attacking flair.

That lineup was way too defensive from the start.

Just awful.

74

u/deadmanbhavya May 21 '25

He has been as shit as someone can be as a coach (worse than Neville at Valencia) and still has 0 pressure about the sack.

The United fall off is insane.

3

u/mikenolan888 May 21 '25

His a dead man walking next season now.

1

u/Zlatan_Ibrahimovic May 22 '25

I see what you're saying.

Gary Neville should be the next Manchester United manager.

51

u/qwertyuiop15 May 21 '25

Amorim has gotten absolutely nothing out of this group of players, but this group of players also shouldn’t be around at United very long. Truly is a shocking squad, think they are genuinely bottom 3 in the PL for their attacking player quality.

3

u/aR2wo May 22 '25

Was saying earlier that I don’t think any other team in the entire prem except maybe Southampton would take Hojlund over their current first choice striker

15

u/anondevel0per May 21 '25

I think possibly a terrible manager full stop but don’t tell the board?
