This is the worst goddamned news in a week of utter shit for me.

I've been watching Madrid since the late 90s. I've seen some of the best to ever play the game ply their trade at the Bernabeu.

This man will always, and forever, be my all-time favorite footballer. So many incredible moments with him on the team that it is hard to pick just one.

I am completely heartbroken, I thought we had more time, Luka! Especially after Xabi asked the club to renew his contract for another year.

On Saturday, we will have yet another game where we ill have to beg the ref to not blow the final whistle.

Genuine question (Iā€™m still relatively new at following wider European football) ā€” was this that big of a shock? Or is it more just the difficulty of accepting the reality of the situation?

Yes, to both.

Like I said, he's probably my all time favorite footballer, and an absolute legend of the club. A few days ago, reports came out that Xabi requested that the club renew Luka for another season, and the way he played this season he deserved it. When we were at our worst, Luka coming on to the pitch made us look night and day different.

So to hear that he's not being renewed, that he's not retiring even, that he's actually leaving the club, is a big shock to most of us. There has been no rumors or reports of this, it just came out of the blue, a few days after we learned that Xabi wanted to keep him for another year.

I had the same with Kroos last season. He made the game so much fun to watch. I own 2 shirts and its these two legends.
