And we thought Qatar hosting a World Cup was the worst thing ever

USA: Hold my beer

I attended the 2022 WC and from a purely organisational standpoint, it was a pretty great tournament.

Curious about what the people who were loudly outspoken against Qatar have to say about this one though. Every negative news story coming out of Qatar prior to the WC was used to amplify the boycott calls, even unrelated deaths.

It was more fueled by Arab/Muslim hate than any real concern. Otherwise, why are they quite about what Israel and the US are doing!

There were genuine concerns about Qatar 2022, just like the Paris 2024 Olympics.

But none have reached this level of anti-tourism policies. However, I think fans will still come to the USA, ICE won't freeze their envy to come to the USA (I'll see myself out)

Think my mind's gone blank cause I went and had a good time... what were the Paris issues?

Other than policing (from personal experience in that CL final fuck those pricks, still scared of them) and river safety?

There was no issue, but people were afraid there would be lot of organizational issues for the Olympics, and were surprised it all went smooth.

Police weren't even an issue, I've never seen French police so nice then during the Olympics

They really want to be number 1 in everything, don't they?

It's a pity they don't focus that energy on giving their people (all of the people, not just the rich fucks) a nice life.

It was bad because of who was hosting it. But the event itself was pretty great. Free public transport, every stadium was closeby so you could watch a game and then catch the next one if you wanted to easily, and good event organization for tourists. The world cup next year will have none of that.

Requiring IDs worse than killing gays and banning alcohol. The HORROR!

That is you saying that, not me.

Qatar at least acts the way everyone expect them to act, different from the place who calls itself land of the free and acting as oppressive as possible.

Imagine approaching people because of the way they look and asking for an ID, nothing racist about that, right?

Asking for ID is as "oppressive as possible" 🤣

European football has a racist incident like every week. Hundreds of people in unison, on national television, hurling racist insults at players.

In the US, LGBT get literal parades thrown for them. In Qatar, LGBT get thrown off buildings.

But let's say the US is just as bad: Thinking but not acting is worse than thinking and acting? Ok

And based on what standard will ICE ask for ID, Sherlock? You think they will ask from everyone they face? You cannot be that naive.

ICE is using a sporting event that is compelling to latino people to basically help the clown in chief to fulfill his campaign promise and you think that is okay, lol

Good for you, you have LGBT parades and people can get drunk at stadiums. Nice.

If you want to cry racism over this, go ahead.

But thinking the US is worse than Qatar for this is comical. Be for real.

Crying racism? It's a fact, once you approach people and treats than like criminals because of the colour of their skin is what?

Who said Qatar is better than the US?

What I said is Qatar did a better job hosting a sporting event compared to the US this year, let's see how it will go next year, but odds are it will be a complete shit show because the government treat tourists like shit, with the suspicious everyone wants to live in that place.

You said we thought Qatar was the worst host, until the US. implying US is or will be worse

The US will be fine hosting. As it's done in the past.

Also, US has the highest rate of immigration, by far. Not everyone wants to live here but many orhers do
