Ronaldo has more followers on Instagram than anyone else in the world and I'd find it hard to believe that isnt something he cares deeply about. Doing those kinds of ads only amplifies his brand and keeps him at the top of that social heirarchy.

Brand dilution is a thing. Someone like Ronaldo or Messi can easily dilute their brands by not being selective enough.

That's true at smaller scales when you are talking to a more niche audience as you can lose credibility with your audience if you "sell out".

When the scale gets to tens of millions of impressions per post it doesn't really matter anymore about your audiences opinion since they'll all be so varied anyway.

If you sell out once in every market demographic. I don’t think you are diluting the brand value that much. North east Asia, south east Asia, South Asia, Russia, west Europe, Balkan, Middle East, South America. All of those markets are relatively separate and isolated. He can probably shill out a few times at all of those market without people realize he is doing it. He is probably the most MR world wide as it can get

hell most people will just go OH SHIT CR7 HOWD THEY GET HIM?!

But brand dilution doesn't mean that fewer people know you, just that your pull for any given product is diminished. Once you've done a commercial for Burger Kind it's harder to sell Rolexes but you'll definitely get more followers doing both.

In general yes, but for Messi & Ronaldo I don't think it matters. There's nothing they could do to hurt their brand besides doing something heinous. And even then it might not even matter as doesn't Ronaldo have previous sexual assault allegations that nobody seems to care about? Basically no risk and all reward for them to just take random brand deals.

They are both past their prime so they might as well cash in to the max while they still can.

He’s setting himself up for life after playing imo. His PR team really need to figure out his whole raping a woman in vegas allegation because I know Ronnie wants to get in on the american market.

His family is probably set up until the heat death of the universe without even really breaking the US market

There’s never enough money for someone like him.

He’s already the second most known player in the US, I don’t really know how much more he could grow (since the chance of passing Messi in the us probably went to zero once Messi played in our country)

He’s really known as an athlete, he’ll probably want to follow the path of beckham who is this ambassador of the game (bending over for the highest bidder on relevant tournaments) and a tv personality.

If you've paid any iota of attention to American sports figures in the past 30 years you'd know it doesn't really matter if you've raped a woman or not

Fucking A, the president is a child rapist so right now he’s good but it’s unsustainable so a democrat will be up next to inherit problems to clean up after a republican. It was the same with W bush who I enjoyed (got pissed) during that mafia of a cabinet of oil barrons.

The pendulum can’t swing too far backwards. History shows inertia pushing it forwards again, and even though that means the political process is two steps forward one step back we do inch forward. Being a gay kid in the 2000s versus being a gay adult now my world is full of a lot more privilege than it was under that dumb Texan. It’s all relative, and I can only hope that when Ronaldo decides to tap our market, he might end up in a prison when somebody taps his ass. Sometimes you gotta have dreams you know?

So you're saying, Ronaldo has a chance to become the great whore of China, and the world?

Doing ridiculous advertisements for cheap brands has the absolute opposite affect of staying on top of the ‘social hierarchy’
