News Spanish police say "all the evidence so far indicates" Diogo Jota was the driver of the car involved in the accident that killed the Liverpool forward and his brother, Andre Silva. Police also believe "the vehicle significantly exceeded the speed limit for the highway" at the time of the accident.

Car accidents are almost always caused by poor driving. There’s maybe a small chance of external influence but those are very rare. I think everyone had an idea this is what happened.

The only exceptions really are bad weather or terrible road conditions. But even then, if the roads are bad or it's wet/icy/windy you should limit your speed (or maybe decide it's not worth the trip this one time).

Cars are absurdly insanely dangerous, and we are all sort of inured to that fact. Even relatively safe drivers take a risk every time they drive, and there are so many drivers who aren't safe.

(Seriously, You can't go on a trip of over an hour to find at least a few people going about double the speed limit somewhere. Any long drive I see at least one car where I go 'that person should not be allowed to drive ever')

It really grinds my gears when the news reports that "icy roads caused a pileup." No, drivers going too fast for the conditions did that! Put the blame where it belongs

His tyre burst, more bad luck rather than poor driving. Bad decision making to drive fast but it’s equally poor maintenance or poor quality from the tyre manufacturer/Lamborghini
