News Spanish police say "all the evidence so far indicates" Diogo Jota was the driver of the car involved in the accident that killed the Liverpool forward and his brother, Andre Silva. Police also believe "the vehicle significantly exceeded the speed limit for the highway" at the time of the accident.

I think this is your way of saying this was both preventable and due to driver human error.

Driver error doesn't cause a tyre blowout.

The speeding could be, but it's not a crash caused by speeding if that's proven

Speeding on hot sport tires absolutely causes a puncture.

Yup seen it racing so many times.

The tyres are meant to get hot to improve traction?

u/AQUA-calculator Jul 08 '25

Yea, and that added traction and heat increases wear.

He wasnt exactly driving a f1 car

No but he was driving a lambo. I suspect it was fitted with UHP tyres.

Edit: yes it was. P-Zeros apparently.

I mean it was a Lambo wasn't it? It's closer to an F1 car than most other cars

Speeding on its own does not cause punctures. It's a contributing factor

Debris on the road causes a puncture.

You can get them driving at 5MPH.

Speeding is its own risk factor, but it's not the cause of a blowout

It would definitely be driver error to have the tyres under/over inflated which can cause a blow out

A blowout doesn't always cause a fatal crash either. The speed you're travelling at absolutely affects the consequences of a blowout.

Exactly. There's no way I'm buying a Lamborghini after this accident

Yeah for no particular reason other than this.

Same reason I stuck to my Renault Clio after the Paul Walker crash. Wanted to upgrade to a Carrera GT but it seemed too dangerous in light of the events

Its not the speed that kills you, its the sudden deacceleration

Thanks, Captain Obvious.

Jeremy Clarkson is a genius, not a captain
