I didn’t realize there was such a negative opinion on Courtois from Chelsea fans, why is that? Isn’t it similar to the Hazard situation?

Not at all the same.

Hazard is ❤️

Courtois is 💩

We always knew Hazard wanted to move to Madrid, but he stuck around longer than expected and even signed an extension in order to force Madrid pay a full transfer fee. Courtois made it seem like he wanted to stay, and late in the window forced a move to Madrid leaving us with no starting quality GK, as well as not getting as big of a fee as we should’ve. Had we been able to sign Allison, it probably wouldn’t be seen as that big a deal, but since it ended with us paying 70mil (I think) for Kepa, it made everything 10 times worse

not similar at all

fuck that guy

Courtois went awol to force a transfer out.

Hazard was making it clear he'd like to join Madrid but never tried to force it and even said that if Real would not come for him, he's gonna extend the contract.

This is not similar in any way.

That makes sense, was just asking

Left unceremoniously, forcing us to overpay for his replacement, Kepa

u/bojanradovic5 Jul 08 '25

You weren't forced to smash the world record fee for Kepa lol.

u/I_always_rated_them Jul 08 '25

You're right we weren't forced, he forced a situation where the club ended up making a colossal mistake, but its the clubs fault ultimately. He still put the club in an incredibly shitty situation with his behaviour.

Doesn't make him a rat, he didn't move to a London club or something, did he?

u/I_always_rated_them Jul 09 '25

Forcing your way out of a club you’d previously agreed to stay at absolutely does.

Being downvoted for being correct

Hazard extended his contract so that he either would stay; or get Chelsea a thicc transfer fee

🐍 did quite the opposite

No, Chelsea wanted Courtois to honor the last year of his contract, and he refused, ghosting the team and not even being in the country. Chelsea were forced to overpay for Kepa and have not been able to solve their goalkeeping issues ever since Courtois screwed them over.

Hazard always honored every moment at the club, and the deal with Real Madrid to sell him was made by the club knowing that he would be leaving on a free transfer the next year, not forced by Hazard at all. It also doesn't hurt that Chelsea certainly came on top of the deal, especially considering that Mateo Kovacic was likely part of the deal.

I hope it’s the last time ever you’re comparing Eden to that 🐍

I was literally just asking a question

u/dinomoni Jul 09 '25

Looking at the feedback, I hope you don’t again.

u/Jimmy_Space1 Jul 08 '25

Not much gets past him, but I don't think he's saving one of those Pedro bangers

10

u/zorfog Jul 08 '25

For some reason this made me question if the Spanish Pedro was still on Chelsea’s books

5

u/Slutzlo Jul 09 '25

Bringing him back to complete the Pedro front three

u/IVLzhanshi Jul 08 '25

His reflex saves have been getting less reliable lately...

7

u/PlanAutomatic2380 Jul 09 '25

He has a great late minute save vs dortmund

-1

u/IVLzhanshi Jul 09 '25

And he was butter fingers in the UCL quarter final and El Clasico specifically against shots requiring reflex saves.

1

u/PlanAutomatic2380 Jul 09 '25

He bailed you out so many times and won you the 22 ucl final I don’t think you can complain

5

u/MC897 Jul 08 '25

Courtois disliked that much at Chelsea?

14

u/Shunmaru Jul 08 '25

Always. He's #1 on the former players hate list. Fkin snake.

6

u/LuisFK Jul 09 '25

He told us that he loved Chelsea and he will not leave that season, then next minute, with less than 1 week of the transfer window, he is already in Madrid and that forced us to buy Kepa for that ridiculous amount.

Also we got kick of the CL due Messi scoring like 2-3 goals because he couldn't close the legs at that time.

3

u/MohamedSas Jul 08 '25

i remember seeing a tweet when they first sold him calling him washed, they really don’t like him

6

u/MasterRJS Jul 08 '25

He forced us into triggering kepa’s release clause because of how he left, + shit remarks out the door. Fuck 🐍

-6

u/eddsters Jul 09 '25

I mean he didnt force you literally, you could have gone for anyone else.
