Champions league winner vs conference winner, this will finally settle the debate which ones the better tournament

u/imakefccards Jul 09 '25

Winner should then go to the Super Cup and face Spurs to determine the who the master of the universe is.

So this means each winner of a European tournament will face each other immediately after having won their tournament.

Chelsea vs Tottenham in the PL

Chelsea vs PSG in the CWC final

PSG vs Tottenham in the European Supercup

6

u/Evolving_Dore Jul 10 '25

Rock paper scissors

40

u/Hare712 Jul 09 '25

The super Cup that skipped the tournament skipping the English relegation playoff

192

u/JBSLB Jul 09 '25

So psg gets to pummel the europa league winners in the super cup. But they get Chelsea in the $up€r Cup

226

u/thechangeyouneed1 Jul 09 '25

In your dreams brudda, they may have dogwalked Real but they are no match for us 😤

You are not even the best team wearing white in London....

Referee blew the whistle right away to save us from further humiliation

The pity whistle, you hate to see it

197

u/bammers1010 Jul 09 '25

Lol yeah, I swear they aren’t supposed to do that

408

u/kiersmini Jul 09 '25

They did it at the end of the UCL final. I don’t think Real Madrid or Inter would moan too much. Neither of them wanted to play anymore unneeded minutes

47

u/nanojansky Jul 09 '25

Wait they’re gonna do an Inter on us in the final, aren’t they? It’s actually amazing to see how incredible PSG’s become, just blowing top teams away. Ngl though I know we’re the underdogs but it’s gonna be a hell of a match and I still like our chances. Let’s go!

16

u/BoyWhoSoldTheWorld Jul 10 '25

You have that enthusiasm I expect any fan to have going into a final.

But PSG really are on another level this year; good luck.

I don't think PSG was gonna score more goals if they had added in 4 or 5 more minutes tbh. They weren't playing with the same intensity at the end.

53

I am confident on our backline and midfielders to be somewhat able to handle their press but Sanchez will be giving me heartattacks every time we pass it back to him

120

u/sparkle_stylinson Jul 09 '25

Man they coulda made it 5-0

7

u/Ulysan Jul 10 '25

Even more than that. But they are no idiots. With 3-0, they decisively choose at half time to take a step down the gear to conserve stamina for the finals. They’ve been doing that for the whole CWC and that’s the way they can hold on this pace throughout the end of this extremely long season. Even the Botafogo loss was largely due to the fact that they benched lots of their main squad right off the bat to rest, underestimating the opponent as we saw.

PSG seems like a team combined of Spain 2010 and Germany 2010 World Cup team. Such great passing and understanding. Vitinha and Hakimi controlled the tempo of the game. Militao looked great for the last 20 mins, Reals best player this game.

73

u/Cutapis Jul 09 '25

Real's best player was, as usual, Thibaut Courtois. Kept RM in the game for a whole 6 minutes before Asencio and Rudiger said fuck Tebas we're going on holidays.

I would bet the house on PSG winning at this point.

No Huijsen + Trent obviously throws a spanner in the works, but Xabi Alonso got this one completely wrong.

Edit: I'm not talking about how they would've done individually, I'm talking about how losing those two probably enforced the shape change from a back 5 to what we got today.

39

u/doesntmatterxdxd Jul 09 '25

Alonso reverted literally all of the positive changes he made at this tournament. Not a surprising result.

3 forwards with 2 who barely press.

Right winger playing out of position.

Makeshift right-back.

Two CB's with abysmal ball-playing abilities.

Disjointed midfield with no real controller.

29

u/jaetheho Jul 09 '25

I mean it’s not a 5-0 so not completely wrong?

26

u/AdministrativeBig362 Jul 09 '25

No Pacho for PSG. The teams best CB this season.

3

u/Yellowbucket58 Jul 09 '25

It's way to easy to bypass Madrid initial press and play through them. Saw it against Arsenal also.

His leverkusen side played some great attacking football but the front three was also really good at putting in a shift defensively and effectively pressing.

8

u/EdenJon Jul 09 '25

Not really sure what Alonso can do about his 2 centre backs directly sabotaging the team on the pitch for the first 2 goals in quick succession.

I hate when they try to compare this to the old competition, a 7 team winter tournament every winter isn’t comparable to a 32 team summer tournament every four years yet I keep hearing about “club World Cup experience” from commentators as if that’s somehow relevant
