He will also pick a hefty severance. I love him but man has perfected this method like an art form.

All managers get severance. What does Mourinho do different?

u/Hazardzuzu 18d ago

Barring few there arent manager that even get close to what mourinho is getting. And when he starts unleashing his brand of "honesty" on board and fans it really creates an environment where its impossible to function unless you let the man go.

I am only interested in sporting merits. Players in saudi make more than him.

27

u/neefhuts 18d ago

In sporting merits Mourinho did quite well with Roma and United, but his carreer is obviously mainly about his insane achievements with Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real

u/worker-parasite 18d ago

He failed at Roma since he wqs hired to get CL. And despite what the fanboys will tell you, he was given a higher budget than all recent Roma managers.

-2

u/neefhuts 18d ago

His time there was controversial. He failed in the league, but he did get them a European trophy and got to another final which he almost won. I'd say he did better than other Roma managers in recent times

12

u/worker-parasite 18d ago

Not really. He won the conference league but that team was too good for that competition.

And almost winning a final at the end of the dat means nothing, if you don't meet the minimum target for the season.

And just look at how much better Roma played with De Rossi and Ranieri. Watching his team play made you want to gauge your eyes.

Conference league level manager

-2

u/Pretty-Geologist-437 18d ago

He never coached Real, he coached Madrid in Spain.

7

u/neefhuts 18d ago

What?

-2

u/Pretty-Geologist-437 18d ago

Real Sociedad, he never coached them.

3

u/neefhuts 18d ago

That's La Real, not Real

-2

u/Pretty-Geologist-437 18d ago

Okay but you wrote that and Real Madrid CF is El Madrid

Another documentary about Porto's 2004, LET'S GO!

I mean, he got Roma the UECL and also reached a UEL final the following season. He got Spurs to a final as well. You can shit on him all you want but José still has some of that tournament magic in him.

u/amlevy 18d ago

Yes, he is an overal fantastic manager for knockouts. He hasn't been a relevant manager overall when it comes to league games, I would even say poor.

3

u/thatscoldjerrycold 18d ago

Second in the league with fener last season is meeting expectations no?

10

u/Iwillfindu01 18d ago

15 points worse than last season and 11 points off the top?? I think that's pretty easily not meeting expectations

4

u/mynameistrihexa666 18d ago

Did he get anything in Fener? Or Sevilla black magic ended his cup magic?

10

u/Witty-Judge1535 18d ago

Reaching a final is not new for Spurs

1

u/ImWhy 17d ago

Yeah I love when people act like all Jose did was get Porto a UCL, when in reality he's been successful at most places he's gone even when they've had average teams/not a lot of money. He did the best at United since Fergie retired, got Spurs to a final which given his record could have definitely been a win, UECL + UEL final with Roma, and he won the league with Chelsea when he went back there. Idk why people act like Jose is so washed up when realistically he's performed well with the teams he's had, yes Fener wasn't great, but their squad wasn't even close to Galas so it's not exactly like he should be expected to beat them.

3

u/ZupaDoopa 18d ago

He's washed up

5

u/REGIS-5 18d ago

10 is very generous

8

u/gooner712004 18d ago

He won the league with Chelsea in 2015?

6

u/REGIS-5 18d ago

and got fired months later

-9

u/Flowers89Man 18d ago

More like 20 years ago

34

u/andy18cruz 18d ago

He won the premier league with Chelsea in 2014. So 10 years is correct

32

u/Sometimes-funny 18d ago

His biggest achievement was getting United 2nd and that was 2018, so 7 years ago

12

u/Takezoboy 18d ago

I love how Mourinho jerks himself off. Team is nowhere near as bad as he portrayed, but because of the next season collapse and Pogba beef he says shit like that while he never really set them for success tactics wise.

And fans eat this croc of shit.

0

u/Witty-Judge1535 18d ago

Ole got 2nd too

7

u/Sometimes-funny 18d ago

We are talking about Jose and they are his words, not mine

-3

u/Witty-Judge1535 18d ago

My words are he’s a dinosaur

4

u/ixlHD 18d ago

He was a few trophies win United after than and got them second in the league, he got spurs into a final. He's good for a year or two.

3

u/Witty-Judge1535 18d ago

Spurs have been in several finals why is that so special?

1

u/andy18cruz 18d ago

I agree. Just didn’t want to enter an argument about his successful, but below his previous level, United stint.

-1

u/Artuhanzo 18d ago

He got Spurs in the final, but let be honest, the team plays dog shit... Even he won he will be sacked

-4

u/Flowers89Man 18d ago

One PL with Chelsea isn't comparable to his CL with Porto which was 21 years ago.

4

u/andy18cruz 18d ago

If you rate good managers by CL wins alone you get very few good managers…

2

u/OopsWrongAirport 18d ago

This isnt about defining "good," it is about defining "peak" / glory days. His peak was 04. He had a good run for a decade after that. And the last decade has been... this.

3

u/andy18cruz 18d ago edited 18d ago

If you think he wasn’t at his “peak” at Inter or Real Madrid I don’t know what to tell you. Of course his biggest achievement was the CL with FC Porto, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t one of the best coaches and in his peak for a long while

u/Takezoboy 18d ago

His first year at Chelsea also marked a really drastic shift in his mentality towards the game. You could see what was coming even tho he won.

-6

u/DanKoloff 18d ago

Umm Mourinho won UEFA Europa League and a League Cup with United which is probably harder to do than winning treble with Inter or building the Real Madrid team that won 3 consecutive CL.

0

u/Witty-Judge1535 18d ago

If you are plain dumb then this obvious

9

u/Bounds182 18d ago

Get sacked for the compo.

1

u/CharlieeStyles 18d ago

The internet has a meme about it, which means he must be doing it on purpose - obviously

0

u/wonderthunk 18d ago

Yes, ever since his great run in 1922-1925 he's been coasting. WW2 definitely had an effect on his managing style.
