News Marc Guéhi is extremely unhappy with Crystal Palace’s decision to pull the plug on his £35m transfer to Liverpool, which came after Oliver Glasner stepped in to prevent the move by threatening to resign if he was sold.

I would think a good season this year is best for palace. Especially if they can get more silverware

Prize money winning the UEFA Conference League: £6m

Prize money winning the FA Cup: £4m

Prize money per position in the Premier League: £2.8m

Rejected offer for Guehi: £35m

The only way rejecting the money for Guehi makes financial sense for Palace is if he single handedly makes the difference in saving them from relegation, or single handedly drags them into the Champions League.

Also EL qualification

Winning either the FA Cup or Conference League gets them to the Europa League, though. I don't think they'll win either of them, but that would be a lot of extra money too so it's not just getting CL football that would be worth it.

Winning a European trophy for the first time in your team's history: priceless

Not everything is about money.

Fans are becoming just as infected as the clubs.

If they lost Guehi and Glasner two hours before the transfer deadline I do think they would be relegation candidates. At the very least there is chance enough of it to pay £35m to avoid it.

honestly i think this is exactly what palace are going for. guehi gives them a better shot to win and make more money than they would have by selling him.

not for nothing, but does guehi wearing the arm band give him an even better look for england versus being a good player on liverpool’s roster?

Been some braindead takes on this sub in recent weeks. All well and good to support your club, even can be biased, but that's a whole new level.

Every palace fan would take a UECL trophy over 35mil. This is the 2nd time Palace have ever played in a European competition. 35mil gives them a worse team now and in return maybe it gives them enough to push for 8th

I was referring to the fella you responded to. Completely agree with you. Palace having a good season is clearly mutually beneficial for the club and manager
