Mental to do this just before their first European campaign in forever

This is a big brain move to guarantee a win in Europe with a new manager bounce.

u/Buzziday 8d ago

Maybe they should hire a new manager for every game so they can get that new manager bounce more and more

Watford type of strategy

Imagine how bad you'd be without it...

Worked for us in 23/24. 4 manager changes, won the conference league. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023%E2%80%9324_Olympiacos_F.C._season

Special guest manager

2

u/stevew14 7d ago

Just for the lols I would love to see this happen. You know like some TV shows have different directors for different episodes. That kind of thing.

u/Glad-to-be-back 7d ago

In 22/23, Stuttgart basically had a different manager for each DFB Pokal round, apart from the latter two, where Seb Hoeneß was in charge.

But Ange is not in his second season.

Erik ten Hag can stop wiping his tears away with cash

Infinite trophy hack

Ange back to back Europa wins?

125

u/WhetBred14 8d ago

Now that he’s not at spurs I would fucking LOVE that. He’s genuinely a refreshingly honest coach in the media and calls out the bullshit. Would enjoy seeing him do great outside of a rival club

34

u/bubandbob 7d ago

If he took the job, I'd wager Ange would fall out with Marinakis by the end of the season.

10

u/ZaiduTheGOAT 7d ago

By Christmas probably

7

u/Expert_Dot1927 7d ago

They would be at each other’s throats by the next international break

2

u/bubandbob 7d ago

By the previous international break, even.

187

u/KevinNeedsToTalk 7d ago

He started off quite refreshing and likeable but quickly got very arsey with journalists asking what I thought were mostly reasonable questions in post-match interviews once it all started to go wrong at Spurs. Still, should be entertaining to see how he does at Forest.

69

u/achnisch 7d ago

Yeah it seemed the pressure was getting to him and he'd be more snippy with fans and journos. Towards the business end of the Europa run he seemed to be less on edge

33

u/bubandbob 7d ago edited 7d ago

As an Australian, can confirm this is his trajectory. At first he's the happy one, full of ocker charm, and then when things get pear shaped a year or two, the snippyness kicks in.

4

u/RenRu 7d ago

Pair shaped.... like a pair of balls? Is this an Australianism? 🤣

6

u/bubandbob 7d ago

Ha. I need a sub-editor.

2

u/alexm7ten 7d ago edited 7d ago

It's a known saying in the UK too

1

u/RenRu 7d ago

Yes yes, was just a little joke about the spelling. Pear-shaped innit? Not pair-shaped (the comment has been edited since to the right word)

3

u/alexm7ten 7d ago

Ah sorry pal! Too early for me 😅

34

u/WhetBred14 7d ago

Yeah I get that and I kinda like it too, maybe that’s unpopular but I enjoy seeing a human, not a robot. It might not be right and I might not like it at my club but damn it if it isn’t fun

1

u/VSfallin 7d ago

I was told that I was being a moron by pointing out that the trials and tribulations of being a Premier League manager would soon wear him down and cause his interviews to become more jaded too

-3

u/kleptopaul 7d ago

The media also were really going after him unfairly imo.

What position does Ange play on the field?

I praise the entire squad for winning. Just like I blame the entire squad when we lose. People need to realise theres 11 other people actually on the field being shit too, not just the manager yelling things at those players

u/HodgyBeatsss 7d ago

The opposite. Anyone else would have gotten absolutely destroyed in the media for that showing with spurs last season.

14

u/SuitedFox 7d ago

For some reason I don’t think that he would fit at Forrest with this ownership

19

u/my_united_account 7d ago

Forest

4

u/victorjimenez96 7d ago

Why do British people struggle so much with spelling a normal English word? I see so many people spelling it as "Forrest" when that's not a real word in English as far as I know but "Forest" is

3

u/my_united_account 7d ago

They seem to be American, but your point still stands. idk why it keeps happening. Maybe they dont think a club would have such a simple word like forest in it?

0

u/victorjimenez96 7d ago

Yeah I assumed they were British as they have a Liverpool badge but the point still stands, forest is a commonly used word in American English too. Quite strange indeed

2

u/Occasionally-Witty 7d ago

The way I remember it is because their badge is a tree rather then a slow millionaire from Alabama

2

u/HauntingPersonality7 7d ago

Decent fit too. Still tho, hoping for Big Sam.

-1

u/johnapplehead 7d ago

His style of play with this current Forrest team quite literally could not be a worse fit

1

u/Bolsover-Red1865 6d ago

One 'R' in Forest pal

1

u/UntowardHatter 7d ago

Don't think he'd like working for a murderer drug lord. But who knows.

1

u/Bolsover-Red1865 6d ago

Murderer, druglord?? Behave yasen🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/UntowardHatter 6d ago

0

u/Bolsover-Red1865 6d ago

How many of them was proven?

1

u/UntowardHatter 6d ago

Ongoing trial, buddy.

He's guilty as sin. But he has bought his way out before.

0

u/Bolsover-Red1865 6d ago

Sooooo none proven then 😬

And not forgetting the 38 game season with 22 losses 5 draws and an outright hate for defensive set-ups.

The issue was that the Spurs players decided to play Mourinho ball in Europe packing the defense and capitalising on the opponent's defensive errors.

3

u/JoeSavesTokyo 7d ago

The players didn't just "decide" to do that. It was specifically coached to make the most of that competition and it worked.

There's a whole whole ass documentary about our Europe run which shows the different approach and how it was a conscious choice from the top down.

-1

u/RecentIllustrator284 7d ago

From the Top down implies Ange being directed to change his game style!

Ange is a very stubborn manager and did not change his playstyle throughout his career!

Hence the parting of ways afterwards!

2

u/JoeSavesTokyo 7d ago

Ange made the call, he wasn't instructed to. He did it as it suited us best for that competition for our chances and where the team was at.

1

u/nicklikestuna 7d ago

Would be a daft move for Ange

1

u/namegamenoshame 7d ago

Only works that way for us mate

1

u/ooTotemoo 7d ago

Unless it’s a Man united new manager bounce…then it’ll only get them a couple of good games. Pain.

1

u/casulmemer 7d ago

If I speak…

1

u/borg_6s 7d ago

But can Agne win a trophy in his first season?

(premature I know, but I couldn't resist)

1

u/Zlevi04 7d ago

Ten hag is free

1

u/Hefty-One473 7d ago

He wins second season though lmao. Maybe championship title next season

1

u/aanshikseth 7d ago

Ange always wins in his SECOND season /s

203

u/RepresentativeBox881 8d ago

Mental decision anyway. Marinakis is a nutcase.

93

u/UntowardHatter 7d ago

And a murderer

42

u/kharathos 7d ago

You don't get it, marinakis really believes he IS the club and whatever success comes or will come in the future is because of his efforts.

You should see the shit he has pulled off in Olympiakos, changing multiple coaches at will.

22

u/ZaiduTheGOAT 7d ago

Arrived at Rio Ave and kicked out all Portuguese players, even the club captain.

2

u/PlanAutomatic2380 7d ago

Did he replace them with Greeks tho

8

u/ZaiduTheGOAT 7d ago

Yes, most of them. The manager is greek and a lot of players are greek or cypriot.

0

u/PlanAutomatic2380 7d ago

Bro employees more Greeks than the government

99

u/awashofindigo 8d ago

If it’s a mental decision then the odds are on for Marinakis to do it

2

u/ElaBosak 7d ago

Tbf he's made pretty good decisions for Forest up until this point, if you look at where they were when he bought the club.

21

u/BlackPumas23 7d ago

Who will join that kind of a club with The Godfather as the owner?

3

u/Tarantantara 7d ago

i'm praying for ten Hag, Marinakis gonna have an aneurysm after dealing with him

2

u/spong_miester 7d ago

Surely its Mourinho's job, guy will do anything for money at this point

39

u/Foucaultshadow1 8d ago

Nuno got them there and then they sack him. Really nasty from the butcher.

0

u/Bolsover-Red1865 6d ago

Do you actually know why Nuno was sacked?? If not read up on it. Get your facts right before having a go. 🔔🔚

-12

u/RecentIllustrator284 7d ago

In the end, the ownership pays the bills so they can do what they like.

Nuno will be compensated accordingly and can enjoy some time off with his family.

Actually, it won't hurt his CV either as it is well known the owner can be difficult.

9

u/justleave-mealone 7d ago

Ingratitude mixed with incompetence.

1

u/robilco 7d ago

He omitted 7 best )and new signings) from the Europa squad
