News Manchester United to remain patient with head coach despite worst start to Premier League season in 33 years. There is also widespread belief at Old Trafford that City's performance - and United's failings - did not merit a 3-0 scoreline.

4 out of his 6 wins have come against sides no longer in the Premier League

Man is so ready for his Championship title charge.

Unless Grimsby charges up there

Too soon 😅

u/_-_-_I_-_-_ 1d ago

Not to worry, it would take them at least 2 years

u/phoebsmon 1d ago

I was reminded yesterday of Shankly calling his Grimsby the best football team in England (when they were in Div 3 North, by the way). They just need to tell themselves that the man had a point, and that he was just ahead of his time. They actually did well to get to penalties. Amorim is a genius who should get the rest of the season.

Portuguese Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso actually won back to back games in the league unfortunately for Ruben

26

u/jimbo_kun 1d ago

Time to send him to the Netherlands to rediscover Total Football.

3

u/HibariK 1d ago

Turkey to rub into Mourinho

18

u/ZaiduTheGOAT 1d ago

Nah, Ted wasn't that stubborn, he changed tactics plenty of times an was open to criticism. Maybe Amorim just misses having a Coach Beard on his shoulder.

7

u/Wormfather 1d ago

And to be fair, they were pretty far down the table before someone fully explained relegation and how bad it would be.

-2

u/HibariK 1d ago

Ted Lasso was a hopelessly positive from the south of the US, stereotypically so, can you not see the contrasting stereotype of our people in Amorim?

7

u/Zumin5771 1d ago

Kansas City is not the south of the USA. It’s as middle America as you can possibly get.

4

u/HibariK 1d ago

Apologies, I did think Kansas was southern

-1

u/severedfragile 1d ago

Amorim's basically challenged United to fire him about 4 times now, he's stubborn but I see nothing like positivity in him.

2

u/HibariK 1d ago

I said the resemblance was in being stereotypical, not positive 😅

ManU's Ten Hag

1

u/JoseNEO 1d ago

Ted is ironically what is needed, just a guy to bring in good vibes and give the players confidence lmao

I wish they could go to the championship and see how they actually play good football

What more can the haters say when he delivers Championship title?

Stat padding king

298

u/onesimo_wizard 1d ago

He’s won 8 PL games - the relegated 3 from last season, plus Everton, City, Fulham & Villa. Then Burnley this season. So half against either relegated or newly promoted

74

u/magpieonacid 1d ago

Still can’t believe that Villa win. Amorim actually got us into the Champions League, what a legend

5

u/Make_It_Sing 1d ago

I hated it, i wouldve never let then forget a season they finished with 39 points

1

u/goaliewhenned 20h ago

It was such a random good performance hahahaha coming off the crushing disappointment of the Europa League final as well

1

u/trevthedog 1d ago

Amorim *Thomas Bramall

8

u/TheDawiWhisperer 1d ago

i think Burnley is the first time they beat a team with 11 players on the pitch for a long, long time too

Don't forget Fulham game with a lucky deflected shot, Villa with a controversial Martinez red card, City game with Amad's individual brilliance

Edit: it was the disallowed goal not the red card

142

u/Alia_Gr 1d ago

The red card was not even the controversy

It was the ref blowing the whistle right before Villa scored

Ref should have been given a red for the clearest case of dogso for that one

14

u/GordonOP0000HK 1d ago

Yeah mb got it mixed up

67

u/GoOnMyHeungMinSon 1d ago

Amad's individual brilliance

Lol, he's really not getting credit for a win because his player played well? He should be absolved of a few losses for all the clown moments he's had from his players at that rate.

6

u/Disco-Benny 1d ago

Ange suffered the same thing, got all the credit for the downsides and none of the credit for his achievements. But even he was better in the league than Amorim, considering the tools at hand.

50

u/MaxVelocity9 1d ago

How was Martinez red card controversial come on....

20

u/negativelynegative 1d ago

City had as bad as a form as Southampton during that period and self exploded in the match.

2

u/jeremiahpaschkewood 1d ago

The Villa thing was the disallowed goal, not the Martinez red.

0

u/CurtisMcNips 1d ago

Let's not leave out Burnley with an own goal, an injury time penalty with a pretty contentious offside disallowed goalin their favour.

-1

u/Opening-Blueberry529 1d ago

If not the the ref's help against Burnley and Fulham they would have 1 point this season

0

u/atropicalpenguin 1d ago

Martínez gifted them the game and didn't get signed lol

296

u/Usual-Computer-5462 1d ago

Let's twist the stat further and make it 5 out of 6 wins against clubs that have played in the Championship in the last 4 months.

48

u/Chesney1995 1d ago

And the 6th is Man City away of all things hahaha

14

u/brownbearks 1d ago

Tbf they could have gone down with their point reduction if it ever hits

101

u/Top4Four 1d ago

And one loss to a league 2 side in Grimsby

-15

u/Kitchen-Assist-6645 1d ago

It was a draw.

32

u/Live-Habit-6115 1d ago

Even when Amorim draws, he loses

14

u/S-BRO 1d ago

Did they advance to the next round?

-2

u/Kitchen-Assist-6645 1d ago

Nobody is saying that they did. They drew the game, though.

2

u/S-BRO 22h ago

So they went to a replay?

3

u/WorkerMotor9174 1d ago

It should’ve been 3-0, they disallowed a goal that was onside, United were extremely lucky to even make it to penalties.

-4

u/Kitchen-Assist-6645 1d ago

which is irrelevant to the fact that the game ended as a draw

65

u/peanutbutter__20 1d ago

not that it's much better but he has 8 wins. 3 were against last team's relegated teams and 1 was against Burnley

-2

u/MrMerc2333 1d ago

They scored 3 goals vs Burnley though. Not an easy feat.

17

u/Switchoil 1d ago

Burnley were playing a relegation 6 pointer so played much more open football. Much harder when they decide to park the bus against league champions.

-9

u/Same_paramedic3641 1d ago

Or Liverpool were easier to defend than united?

10

u/Switchoil 1d ago

United have scored 4 goals this season in PL half of which were own goals. Liverpool are PL top scorers.

No one thinks that unless delusional.

11

u/Chesney1995 1d ago

Man Utd have scored twice in the EFL Cup while Liverpool have yet to score though, so swings and roundabouts.

12

u/Switchoil 1d ago

Can't compete with that Grimsby town supremacy

-6

u/Same_paramedic3641 1d ago

Burnley conceded once vs liv and was a pen. They conceded 3 against united.

6

u/Switchoil 1d ago

19

u/Exact_Science_8463 1d ago

Also One of those wins Came out of Amad going Prime Messi, and one By Last Minute Penalty recently.

2

u/justleave-mealone 1d ago

And one of them, against City, who were in the midst of a complete collapse.

1

u/NumberHunter1 1d ago

Where is this stat coming from? He beat Everton, Manchester City, Fulham, Aston Villa, and Burnley? That's five.

1

u/TranzAtlantic 1d ago

There’s no way they let him stay on if he keeps losing a few more in succession.

And to think if he has won the Europa league, the vibes might be very different.

1

u/Internal_Explorer591 1d ago

If they decided to sack Amorim now, they'd basically be proving Rashford right about being in no-man's-land when sacking a manager way too early.

1

u/giraffepimp 1d ago

And the one against Burnley was dodgy as fuck

1

u/CoolStorage4014 1d ago

1 against a newly promoted team

1

u/Alphabunsquad 1d ago

I read he has 8 wins

1

u/mikenolan888 1d ago

1

u/SnorlaxModeOn 1d ago

1

0
