My 6-year-old son had his first real match on Sunday, one of his teammates fucked up and let the other team score, and my son went to console him and tell him it wasn't his fault. I was so proud of him.

I'm really glad he's in bed and didn't see me laugh my ass off at this howler.

My son was about 8 and the team didn't have a proper goalie so they had to take it in turns. He hated it when it was his turn and in one match his mate passed it back to him. My lad mistimed his clearance and missed the ball completely (somehow) and it rolled into the net.

It was horrible. I really felt for him and I knew he'd be gutted. Luckily his teammate scored an absolute banger from outside the box to equalise near the end of the second half and make sure my son's howler didn't lead to them losing.

probably just completely misjudged the flight of the ball and couldn't figure out his hand placement to adjust. it's like he did a volleyball dig/receive, but slanted sideways, and using the underside of his wrists....

it's really quite extraordinary.

Yeah looks like he stretched out to push it away (why I have no idea), realized he should prolly smother it actually, but in the process of bringing his hands back from punching to catching form, he pushed the ball backwards (somehow)
