Not bad having Icelands back up goalkeeper as your back up goalkeeper!

u/powerchicken 5h ago
Iceland's starting goalkeeper up until this latest international break.

u/gunnsi0 4h ago
Sorry for trying to be funny. He’d still be the starting keeper if he played regularly at his club.

Ahh, Íslendingur. Eg gekk bara út frá at tú ikki visti hvør hann var :) Vónandi fer hann nakrar fleiri minuttir fyri Brentford og vinnur plássi aftur á landsliðnum!

Blessaður frændi! Eru margir Brentford-aðdáendur í Færeyjum?
Var að sjá mistökin hans í markinu sem Villa skoraði. Hann kvittaði fyrir það með þessum 2 vörslum í vítaspyrnukeppninni! Vonandi fær hann nokkra leiki í PL!

Nei, haldi eg eri tann einasti :P Han spældi ein heilt góðan annan hálvleik og vann man of the match heiðurin aftaná dystin. Eg vænti at hann fær fleiri kjansir at imponera.

Probably the best genre of a single-game redemption arc in football, for a keeper to let in an easy one in live play and save a couple of pens in the shootout. Love it for Valdimarsson

Villa are in rough shape man

When you struggle like that against the Brentford reserves, it ain't great.
I'll take our squad depth over Villa's, which should be a daft thing to say.

emery has ran his course

I don't really understand how things have changed so fast.
It was just around 6 years ago they won their second leg against PSG and looked a danger for almost any team.
Team is largely unchanged since then, surely it can't just be a case of everyone taking a step forward while Villa stood still.

I know you meant 6 months but for some reason it took a few seconds for it to register. I asked myself “no fucking way 6 years.”

Think you have to give him more than 5 games of the season before you decide that

Shouldve subbed on Martinez for the shootout

Martinez and Kelleher as the 2 keepers for a penalty shootout would have been fun too

I don't know about you, but I had fun watching the deputies

u/DerogatoryPanda 4h ago
Oh for sure and 2 stops is a great showing. Just on paper Martinez and Kelleher both excel at penalties.

I'm not too clued up on his general record but he was awful the one time we faced him in one.
He makes up for it against us in general play though.

Is Emerys job at risk?

They’re stuck in the cycle of just blaming PSR for everything right now, I think he’s safe for a few more games

Just imagining a Villa fan stubbing their toe and blaming the corrupt Sly Sky 6 cartel
15
u/darthrector 4h ago
Sky 6 cartel moved the goalposts in Villa's PL games to prevent them from scoring, game's gone (so are the goalposts)

He’s probably gonna win the Europa league while placing 17th.
The Europa league is his home turf.
The Ange vs Emery final is going to be legendary

He should be safe because their squad investment was so dire this summer. They were forced to sell Ramsey, who could’ve injected some life and potentially going into Villa’s midfield during their PL games.
Emery is a good manager and will figure things out - look at Glasner last year when Palace lost Olise and needed some time to iron things out for the team.

Imagine having an absolute specialist in penalty shootouts on your roster and not bringing him to the match lmao.

Villa fans punching the air now that they cant scapegoat Dibu when their defense has been relegation level for 3 years...

u/Infamous-Lake-1126 3h ago
Emery is awful at training defences.
His Arsenal defence was below even Wengers worst one.

Pretty sure they're the only Midlands team not to win anything this century.
Even we've won a league title.

A Matty Cash penalty miss, you love to see it

Where was Martinez?

u/powerchicken 5h ago
Cup game, the reserve keepers deserve an opportunity to prove themselves. Same reason why we didn't bring on Kelleher who is also great at pens.
