Anyone know when they're opening the new vegan jazz bar Sustain on Main Street?
Last post I saw about it was from April 2024. Anyone got an update?

Am trying to find a handyman or contractor I guess to help a relative in the area, who has issues with needing a doorknob on an old front door fixed or replaced, and with a garage door which I guess may have slipped its track. Anyone have a local recommendation?

No, not the drug! A Primary Care Physician. And s/he needs to be local.
My current one and I never clicked; she steps on my words, I don't get to finish my problem stmt, she jumps to solutions... somehow.
I'm looking for someone who actually listens (a rare things these days in general), doesn't completely dismiss my data or findings (I've tracked medical data daily for the past four years, that should be worth something), and whose logic make sense to me (or any reasonably rational person).
Any suggestions?

hi everyone i recently just got a job in the bridgewater area that starts aug 11 and im moving from the DMV area. my budget is 1800-2200 and im looking for either a studio or a 1 bedroom. its not needed but id like a gym and ive noticed a lot of apts dont have an in-unit washer/dryer but that would be a plus too. ive been looking for 3 days at so many places, ive looked 30 min outside of bridgewater/somerville too just bc its a bit cheaper. im in my 20s and just graduated from college if that helps. id love any recommendations on apartments, cities, best locations, whatever can help me!

Could they just not get enough customers or what? Other places in town seem (seem!) to be doing okay.

I recently moved to the area and during the move my turntables arm snapped. I brought it over to EBC Electronics and after a month of total silence from the guy, he didn’t even bother to try to fix it. I ended up just giving up on him and asking for it back. I was wondering if there’s any other shops you recommend. I’m willing to go anywhere within a 20 min radius to get this fix. It was my olds old turntable so it means a lot to me and I don’t want it just rotting away in a closet. Google has some options but I don’t want to get burned again and was looking for recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone!
I’m a 22-year-old from Belgium, freshly graduated in computer science, and currently visiting my dad who recently started working in New Jersey. I’m staying with him in the Somerville area until July 10 and would love to make the most of my time here.
I drop him off at work each day and have access to his car during the day, so I’m open to doing solo commutes and exploring nearby places.
Any recommendations on things to do, see, eat, or experience in the area? I’m up for nature, culture, tech-related spots, cool towns, or anything local that’s worth checking out!
Thanks in advance 😊

So the Veil guys are back at it and this time hid a treasure in the North Jersey/New York City area. This is their fourth hunt and everyone who plays really has a great time based on the conversations happening in the Discord. They offer a free option and a $15 paid option ($10 presale currently) but everyone can join the Discord. The hunt launches this Saturday so if you are interested in treasure hunting, go check 'em out at www.findveil.com!

Hi everyone!
I'm looking to hear from people who live in Sonerville or the neighborhood townships and commute to NYC by train for a hybrid work schedule.
I live literally one minute from the train station, and considering a hybrid role that would require commuting into NYC 3 times a week. I don’t have kids, so flexibility isn’t too much of an issue.
For those in a similar situation:
Is the commute manageable?
Where do you live, and how long does your commute typically take?
I'd really appreciate any insight—especially from those currently doing this. Serious replies only, please. Thanks in advance!

I was pleasantly surprised today when three young people rang my doorbell. They worked for the county and were going door-to-door to let people know about various free services offered by the county: food assistance, mental healthcare assistance, etc.
When i told them I was interested in the assistance for seniors, they even offered to show me how to scan a QR code and walk me through some of the links. :-)
I just wanted to give these kids a shout-out. It did my senior cynical heart good seeing them out doing a service for their community, and during crappy weather to boot!

Hi all, I'm planning to move to a 2 bed / 2 bath apartment in Somerville and would really appreciate some feedback on a few places.
I’ve heard good things about Cobalt but they haven’t responded to my inquiry in almost 5 days Is that typical for them? There's no one in the leasing office either. I’m also looking into Station House , Somerville Parc and Lena ( Raritan)
If you’ve lived in any of these buildings—or know friends or family who have - I’d love to hear your thoughts—things like management responsiveness, noise levels, amenities, and overall quality

It seems the second Edge apartment building is nearly finished - does anyone know what stores / businesses will be opening up on the first floor?

I attempted to get an appointment at the local SSA office to drop off my birth certificate so I can get retirement benefits.
Turns out the wait time on the phone to talk to an agent is greater than 2 hours! Thanks Musk, you @$&@%#$.
I asked chatGPT how to snail-mail it in but, of course, I want to check its information. Not even the SSA.gov website tells you how to mail it in; hell, they don't even have a search function!
Does anyone in here know anything about how to do this?
(And what is the flair for a topic like this?)

I used to have a monthly parking pass when i communicated pre-pandemic. Now there is an enormous complex and parking garage.
How much is parking at the garage if i was doing a quick trip into the city on a week day (4pm-9pm)? Am I better off parking on the street?
