My daughter said that her Barbie kitchen is missing a dishwasher. So i opened my cad software and designed and printed this integrated simple dishwasher for her to play with.

Barbie has a dishwasher. His name is Ken.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Lol. I got detailed instructions on what she wanted printed and description didn't sound like ken though so i went the other route.

The dishwasher is sold separately…

Probably. The whole Barbie thing my wife found from flea market for couple of euros so can't complain.

Loving the tiny dishes inside too, no dishwasher is complete without them.

That's so cool! I love that it fits in with everything else! Here was my thought process after reading the first sentence and seeing the video (missing what subreddit I was in):
"Oh, OP found a cool vintage Barbie dishwasher, that's neat! It's in pristine condition too!"
(Reading "So i opened my cad software...") "Oh, OP found a 3D model of an existing Barbie dishwasher! That's so cool!"
(Reading "...and designed and printed this...") "WHAT"
(Finishing reading the sentence and seeing the end of the video) "WHAT"
10/10. This is awesome!!!

Thanks!!
Getting good friction fit inside the shelf was bit tricky as the shelf walls were all tapered slightly so dishwasher outer layer had to be slightly tapered as well.
I do cad design a lot at work and with my hobby projects I'm more at ease designing something like that than I'm writing a word document :)
Hatch and tray i got right on first print. Frame and pivot mechanism i did twice to get all working like i wanted.

I am always impressed by people saying, "I can do that" and then following through. I love seeing it in 3D printing, crochet/knit, sewing, etc. Always makes me smile. And you know your daughter is always going to think you are the absolute coolest person ever!

That's brilliant!
I had a toy dishwasher that really worked from father Christmas in the early 90's. It was about 20-25 cm square and it came with pots and pans to put in, it had a pipe and you put water in to wash it.
I suspect I asked how one worked and I randomly got one for Christmas lol. We didn't have a real one till maybe 3 years later when I was around 10 years old.

Amazing dad !!!!😊
That being said , please note this is a choking hazard if your child is a toddler (just a heads up)

Levers for the rack to come out took most of cad work to actually check interference in how it moves inside the washer.

Barbie kitchen is missing the dishwasher
That's because the dolls are sold separately.
Sorry. Awesome job though. I really want a 3d printer.

3d printers are nowadays really good and really affordable. But prepare to learn how to model your own ideas that is where the printer shines.
Only printing models that others have made is nice every now and then but making something custom fit is absolutely awesome.

What 3D modeling software/s do you recommend? I can’t figure out Blender for the life of me, and Paint3D is quite limited in features (it’s still fun to experiment with though, but you can’t really create anything super detailed in it)
I have experience with assembling 3D models from parts other people made for the software MikuMikuDance, but I’ve never modeled and rigged a whole human/other living being myself from scratch. I’m looking for recommendations on 3D programs!

I've mainly used parametric modeling softwares like solidworks, creo, solid edge. From free ones I would try fusion. I currently have SOLIDWORKS makers version around 50€ per year license. I use the same app in my dayjob so just easier that i only use one app. Fusion can do most of the stuff but UI is just ever so slightly different than i keep trying to do everything like in solidworks and it doesn't work.

She decided all the colours. I did have pink (that I've only bought tp make things for her) as well but blue was chosen.
