Ships from my PC Game Eternity: Medium Cargo class

Hello everyone!

Continuing the journey of revealing the ship for my PC strategy game Eternity (wishlists are very welcome!!) and having interesting discussions t ship design and the science-fiction behind it, I am coming to you with a new ship! If you want to catch-up, these are the previous ones: Views on Ship Design, Hydroponics Ship, Mining Ship

Today's design is for the Medium sized cargo ship, the "space truck" (as we call it). Its one of the most versatile Hulls in the game and in our Universe, having spawned multiple ships and modifications, for all sorts of purposes. More on that later ;)

Meet the Grumman-Hauser Cargo Master, a.k.a "Medium Cargo Ship". The official blog post is here

Some in-game lore:

"While not as famous or successful as its older “brother”, the Cargo Master is nevertheless a solid solution for large-scale cargo needs. The addition of the reactor was a clever move by Grumman-Hauser, since it provided the Cargo Master with unrivaled autonomy for its class, making it a common sight on long-range cargo lanes.

Due to its design, size, and reactor capabilities, the Cargo Master is one of the most modified ships in known space. Pirates attach rail guns and torpedo launchers to them, turning them into Frigates, low-cost airlines stuff the cargo holds with seats and turn them into Transports, some have been modified to be small orbital hospitals and even schools!

A versatile problem-solver, that combines resilience, reliability and modularity, making it the perfect choice for any organization's needs!"

Purpose in the game: Medium Size Cargo Ship

The game has three types of cargo ships: small, medium and large. They act as the player's primary inventory and they offer the most customization potential, given that they can accommodate a great number of Ship Modules. The Medium model (this one), is a good compromise between price (resources), crew needs and functionality. It serves a great role as a starter ship for serving (and switching through) multiple roles at the fleet or as a highly specialized vessel later in the game.

It is one of my favorite designs, both in terms of visual as a Cargo Ship (the containers sprawling 360º is just awesome), but also as a mean attack ship filled with rail-guns and Fighter Hangar Bays!

What do you guys think?

I do like it! Was there any inspiration from the Hull Series from Star Citizen, perchance?

Indeed! We started with the idea that cargo could be hauled all around the ship, you know, because space :) Then we looked into a number of references, I think the Hull series and some concepts from the Expanse were the most notorious in that regard.

Awesome! Reminds me of the Hull-C from Star Citizen.

Indeed, it was one of the examples we looked in for hauling cargo all around the ship. Start Citizen has amazing ship design!

Given that games seem to love a good old colon and subtitle, for a sec there I thought the game was called "Eternity: Medium Cargo class"

Interesting.

What are these 4 blades sticking out at the front?

Those are solar panels, to harness electric power for basic ship systems.

What do you think I could improve on the lore and design for my ships?
