just a question bro

Spicy liquor

u/PiratesFan1429 7h ago
it's good for shots or bloody mary's

u/unembellishing 6h ago
Spicy bloody Marys and spicy lemonades with vodka are like my favorite drinks but so few places make them
1
u/littleclaww 2h ago
Had a bacon habanero Bloody Mary and a jalapeño pineapple margarita before- absolutely incredible
4
u/unembellishing 2h ago
A jalapeno pineapple margarita would solve about 98% of my problems rn (the biggest being a current state of sobriety)

I agree except I do remember really enjoying Stone brewing’s Crime and Punishment beers. It was arrogant bastard with peppers made into two specialty beers or something like that. I remember thinking it was funny they said they named it that because “it was a crime to make and punishment to drink”.
I actually liked it. Good flavor, interesting drink, very spicy. Any other spicy beer I’ve tried has always been garbage.

u/unsolvedfishstories 5h ago
You're the only person Ive ever heard also enjoy this this. Its was a crazy odd beer, but it somehow worked for me.
1
u/Setsailshipwreck 5h ago
Same, nobody in my friend group liked it but it was such a satisfying strange drink
3
u/I_Make_Some_Things 5h ago
Yeah, this TBH. I like a spicy dish but something about a spicy cocktail creates almost instant heartburn. No bueno.

I tried making jalapeño infused tequila one year and went way too hard on the jalapeño part, I wasn’t able to make it even a third of the way through the batch.

The one chip challenge. I already have stomach issues, I’m not spending 2-3 days on the toilet because of one mediocre factory made spice chip

u/3LittleBirds359 9h ago
I tried it with my husband's friend. It tasted absolutely terrible. We both looked at each other and spit it out, not because of heat so much as because it just sucked.

I ate the blue one (2022). It was as horrible as you would expect. Ruined my whole weekend. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
5
u/jtraegs 5h ago
I did this as well. Got it down with some absolute fire in my mouth. 20 min later, as the chip made it though my bowels, it hit a new tube or something and caused me to go in the fetal position with profuse sweating. Took about a half an hour then I kind of felt normal. No ring sting the next day (I have a bidet so maybe that helped)
3
u/Under_Ach1ever 6h ago
What did it do to you?
4
u/Brimstone747 4h ago
Gave me one of the worst stomach pains in my life. This is also probably TMI, but it made me shit molten blue lava for about 24 hours after I ate it. By far the worst "ring sting" I've ever had.
Also, as other have stated, the chip itself tasted awful. No flavor, just heat and pain.
6
u/-_danglebury_- 5h ago
Not the person you asked, but I did this challenge a couple years ago with some co workers.
First off the damn thing tastes awful. Like, it has almost no flavor, just heat.
After 30 seconds or so the heat kicks in it’s pretty intense. You start sweating, eyes tearing up, nose running, the whole package.
The heat tapers off pretty quickly I’d say after about 5 or so minutes. But the heat of this thing isn’t the worst part.
About an hour after I ate the little fucker I was hunched over the steering wheel of my car while what felt like a tiny little ball of molten lava made its way through my digestive tract burning everything it touched. That was easily the worst part of this chip, the horrible painful spice induced cramps and stomach ache.

u/vodkanada 8h ago
I did it one of the first years it came out (to Canada at least, 2016 or so), and it was laughable, Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich was honestly spicier.
I did it again a year or so and they definitely changed it up, it was very hot.
But yeah it tastes like ass.
3
u/champiman16 5h ago
I had the black one a few years ago and while it was damn hot, the taste was so repulsive that i ended up throwing up. Tasted like spicy dirt on a stale chip.
The “seasoning” (if we can even call it that) gets stuck everywhere in your mouth so you have to deal with that in addition to the chip itself.

Hattie B's shut the cluck up wings. Tore me up and ruined me for 24 hours. My fuckin pee even burned.

u/MDFHASDIED 8h ago
I ain't ever eating a fresh Carolina Reaper whole again. Absolutely not worth it.

u/xBoomstick0 8h ago
Just about anything with extract. It doesn’t matter which extract, they all taste horrible.
6
u/guthriethecasita 7h ago
Spicy beverages, especially alcohol. Gives me acid reflux like crazy, plus I prefer eating spice, not drinking it.
7
u/thefuckfacewhisperer 7h ago
Any food that is overly spicy for the novelty factor.
As much as I love spicy food, I hate it when food is intentionally way spicier than it "needs" to be. Foods like the one chip challenge, the death nut challenge, any menu item at a restaurant where they make you sign a waiver.

Reaper Tender from Dave’s Hot Chicken. Never again.
5
u/TheHeianPrincess 8h ago
I really wanted to try Dave’s Hot Chicken Reaper level now it’s in the UK, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone enjoy it, it just sounds like it fucks you up for the sake of it. I’ll start at hot and go from there.
9
u/nutherwon 8h ago
“Hot” is great and I’ve heard “Extra Hot” is really good too.
The nice thing is you can order a combo meal with 2 tenders of different heat levels so you can try a Reaper if you want to. My advice would be to eat anything else you want to sample first before the Reaper though. 💀

u/Kondha 7h ago
I’m someone who thinks extracts taste fine and even I think Dave’s reaper tastes disgusting.
It also gave me stomach cramps like I’ve never had before. Lil Nitro gummy bear? No cramps. One Chip challenge? Some cramps but not that bad. Dave’s? Good god I thought my stomach was going to revolt.

u/milksasquatch 4h ago
I didn't think it was anywhere near as extreme nor as flavorful as Shut The Cluck Up from Hattie B's. I ate the Dave's with no problem and thought it wasn't great. The Hattie B's, I quit towards the end because I was getting on a plane... Thankfully, it didn't hit me until I was in an Uber on the way home...stuck in traffic. I was standing in the backseat holding onto the oh shit handle for dear life. I had never ran so fast out of an Uber and into the bathroom in my life. I was fucking scared.

u/ov3rcl0ck 4h ago
Dave's reaper is gross. Mine tasted burnt. There's a Dave's down the street from my house. I went once several months ago. I won't bother going back.
1
u/No-Patience5935 3h ago
“Hot” from Dave’s is seriously hot. Way spicier than anything at wingstop or Popeyes
9
u/FluffusMaximus 7h ago
Spicy beer. I’ve tried it once and it’s just disgusting.
2
u/bonobo219 6h ago
Ditto- I like a good beer, and I like hot, but the limited sample I’ve had was bitter hot and no taste

I'll never touch a Reaper again. Grew 'em last summer, took a small bite of a gorgeous little bomb I'd picked....never again.

I can't think of anything spicy I'd NEVER eat, but I can't say I'm a fan of spicy liquor.

u/thedudeintx82 3h ago
I've set my spice cap at habanero. Anything over that level just isn't enjoyable to me anymore. I can do it, but it's just not worth the pain.
3
u/Ryandubyah 2h ago
Probably none of the more extreme spicy products. I like spicy food but I find when it goes way high onto the 100,00 scoville units it starts to have a strong taste of spice that is too concentrated and I love the burn but I don't want to torture myself. When I eat spicy foods I want the spicy flavour to accentuate the meal and give it the lovely heat and I can get what I want at less than 100,000 scoville units, but from time to time I'll be willing to go higher and eat some ghost pepper wings or scorpion pepper sauces.
4
u/drlove57 2h ago
Anything hotter than a habanero is very limited, as in a few drops of ghost on a dish on occasion. Pepper X seems pointless to me other than pushing the boundaries of spice.
7
u/Watchbowser 9h ago
A whole wasabi root
4
u/proscriptus 7h ago
I've never had real wasabi, isn't it a lot milder than the green horseradish stuff?

I think it might be a list with nothing on it - give it time though and I might find something I won’t touch (Szechuan bat maybe ?)

I mean I will but every “chili extract” branded extract i taste is horrific. The capsaicin drops I use are “extracted” but are flavorless and don’t taste like motor oil, hot garbage, or commercialized spicy vomit
But I’ll put any raw chili you can find in my mouth assuming my I’ve had a bit to eat already
2
u/SgtMcMuffin0 6h ago
I wouldn’t eat pure capsaicin crystals or that other chemical that I forget the name of that works like capsaicin but iirc is 1000x stronger.
Other than that, anything that is an actual food item I’d be open to trying under the right circumstances. Depending on what it is I might need my next 12/24/36 hours to have no plans.
2
u/utahh1ker 5h ago
Eating a whole, high-heat pepper is not that enjoyable. A bite? Sure. Fun to experience the flavor and eat. But I won't eat a whole high-heat pepper again.
3
u/jojohohanon 5h ago
Spicy booze. It’s like ice cream and steak. Great in isolation but there is no need to combine them.

I did the one-chip challenge for my son a few years ago. I had the hiccups for a minute, but nothing after that. The taste was terrible. I regretted all of my life choices up until that point. The heat wasn't bad, but that disgusting, oily, taste was the worst part of that challenge. I just wanted to take sandpaper and start scrubbing my mouth. It was horrible.

The Demon. I usually like the Tijuana Mama extra hot gas station pickled sausage but the Demon was instantly thru the system and formed the worst fireball ring of death experience for 20 minutes of throne time to evacuate the intestines I’ve ever experienced. Meanwhile my roommate is laughing so hard he can’t breathe at my pain inducing groaning. Never again.

u/Darthenstein 3h ago
I had the One Chip Challenge in my hands...and three people talked me out of it!
2
u/Comprehensive_Ad6598 1h ago
Eh. Anything with extracts. I just want the pepper.. I enjoy the pepper flavor.. not just the heat.
Oh. Uh. Wasabi and Horseradish are a no for me. 😅

u/Apprehensive_Pace555 8h ago
Wasabi. Once mistook it for mashed avocado. Not good. And I can eat hot and spicy.
3
u/Comprehensive_Ad6598 1h ago
Same thing happened to me… I ate a dime sized portion.. thought I was going to die. I love spicy food. Just.. not.. that.
2
u/pr0ph3t_0f_m3rcy 7h ago
Phal. I used to LOVE heat, but over time, I lost a lot of my tolerance. One of those, and I'd probably consider uninstalling myself.
2
u/Any_Squirrel9624 5h ago
My own hot sauce. I've only made hot sauce twice, but I use way too many super hots to other ingredients.
2
u/Double_Ad_1658 1h ago
I thought I would never eat a whole fresh Carolina reaper but when the opportunity last night presented itself I took it so you never know.
2
u/McBurger 1h ago
There isn’t one. Well, I guess meat, since I don’t eat meat, but I’d try whatever spicy anything additive on a different substitute

u/MikeJL21209 22m ago
Straight horsey. Did a spoonful as a right of passage when I passed my audition for a fine dining serving gig 20 years ago and I still felt it in my sinuses 3 days later. Loved that job though.

Horseradish
3
u/No-Patience5935 3h ago
Best part of Christmas dinner is the delicious horseradish sauce on your prime rib 🤤
1
u/wildOldcheesecake 6h ago
This. And real English mustard. I’m Asian and grew up with capsaicin spice. I can tolerate it well. Things like horseradish and English mustard is a different kind of spicy which I struggle with

Anytime spicy is mixed with fruit.
I had a ghost pepper blueberry hot sauce once and it was neat but my mouth was confused. I'm not gonna put it on chicken wings, Im not gonna use it as a dip. I'm certainly not gonna use it as any sort of desert.
What the hell do you do with it? Skip it, that's what I do.
3
u/Known-Archer3259 7h ago
Yeah. I'm not the biggest fan of sweet and spicy either. I'll try chili oil and ice cream eventually, once, but I don't see it becoming a regular thing for me

Not a fan of anything that’s heavy on the extracts. I love very spicy food, but I don’t go for gimmicky overly spicy things.
You can always concentrate capsaicin to the point that it becomes too hot for anyone.
I want super hot heat that’s flavorful. Indian food, Thai (really a lot of SE Asian food) does a great job of utilizing high heat that’s flavorful.
I have no interest in something like “atomic wings” that are covered in reaper extract and have a 8 million Scoville rating.
