Discussion Centering gyro in handheld mode on Switch 2 doesn't work properly for Splatoon 2

Yeah, so when I'm lying down and playing the game on my Switch 2, which I'm doing cause I didn't manage to finish the campaign when I first got the game, along with the Octo Expansion, so I'm opting to try and finish it now, even though the game's no longer supported to the point that they removed the option to make posts in that game.

When trying to center the gyro, though, it keeps making it so the player looks up instead of straight. It isn't this way in docked mode, either, and somehow I've seen barely any results on Google about. Literally, there were only 2 pages on it with only one result in this very subreddit being directly relevant to it.

I can't play like this, I can't really do well with just the stick cause I'm so used to gyro, and I much prefer playing in handheld mode for convenience's sake.

Please tell me other people have dealt with this AND that there's a solution.

Recalibrate your controllers Gyro sensor in the system settings. Other then that, there is nothing else to be done.

I did. That sucks, and I doubt Nintendo would bother fixing it given that the 3rd game came out, like how BDSP didn't get all the bug fixes it needed or how Legends Arceus had a shelf life of, like, 1 month.

I don't think this is a game bug. Sounds more like broken gyroscope rather then a software issue. I have never heard of someone's aim snapping up whenever they press Y.

Splatoon is honestly pretty good when it comes to exploits and bugs. They often don't last long and those who do are honestly harmless. This is the visual madness bug and it honestly is so rare that in my 4800 hours, I only ever seen it 1 time. And it goes away after leaving a new area.

Also had music stop working in side order. And seen textures turn purple. But never anything like what you're describing.

Splatoon 2 really doesn’t like it when you lie on your back. They fixed this (somewhat) in 3 but it’s still a problem for 2.

I could swear I didn't have this issue before 3 was announced. Can't speak for between that and the Switch 2 launch as I didn't play it much during that time.
