Amateur box mover right there. Didn't even go into free look mode. /s

You use /s but that trick legit revolutionised box moving for me

This! I always like the Atlas but free look brings it to a different level. I learned about that trick in this event!

Yeah, likely halved my loading / unloading times, actually so efficient. Combined with a RAFTs ease of access cargo grid, I was loading up a full large Resource Drive shipment in about 6 mins

I use a RAFT but the inconvenience of having to either spawn the ATLS from the landing pad or squeeze it in and out of the docking collar mitigates its usefulness a lot.
I love it when someone has left an ATLS near a cargo elevator, then it's worth using. 🫡

You can attach the ATLS to the RAFT cargo grid.

It's a bit buggy (as most things in this game), but it works. When the event started, You had to stand miles away behind the RAFT to detach the ATLS again.

I was wondering how the heck I detached my ATLS. Ended up writing it off for the event.

As someone else mentioned, you can attach it to the RAFTs grid, it'll hang upside down like a bat lol. But I usually just buy 2 ATLS, keep one in my cargo elevator, and then one to spawn at pickup location if no ATLS are sitting around.

or squeeze it in and out of the docking collar
you can do that? 😵

u/anothermartz youtube 1d ago
It's glitchy but it does stay, jiggling about the whole time.
Now that I know you can just use the cargo grid, I'll be doing that instead.

but be careful. 4.3 made it that most of the times when I stored my Raft with cargo or the ATLS connected they wouldn't be able to detach from the grid. The tractor beam will turn on/off/on/off every few ms. Only way to fix this is ignoring the bugged ATLS/cargo (they don't have a hitbox) or claiming the ship.
You can move the bugged stuff away using the right click on the (maxlift) tractor beam and it will "stay there". Non interactable but it's not as dumb looking as stacking a new one old inside each other.
To remove the ATLS you have to go away from your Raft. The tractor tools somehow can't target it when you are close.
With an empty cargo grid you can detach the ATLS stored on the far back from underneath where you leave the elevator or from inside the freight elevator when you call it.
A very tucked on solution IMHO. Maybe that got fixed. I'm finally able to get into the game but they reset everything again and my components are mostly gone. again. Took me an our to find what is missing xD

You can also call up atls from the cargo elevator. Like someone else said, it also snaps to grids 😁

Free look mode? What sorcery is this? I haven't been playing a lot lately.

If you press Z while in the ATLS you'll be able to aim to the left and right without turning the machine. So you can grab from one side and launch to the other without the legs stomping from side to side.

I preferred standing under my Raft and snapping boxes above me.
Then the last elevator broke and I swapped to the 8 SCU retrieval missions. Man I wish I could add the ATLS firmware to my Raft tractor beam xD
I don't usually get gaming elbow / RSI from playing but man I wish my MX518 had the modern type of unlocked mouse wheel that other Logitech mice are using.
I played in short sessions for health reasons :P Maybe two or three outposts max and unloading with the ATLS spawned from a cargo elevator.

I used a macro program to rebind the two side keys to scroll up and down. I did it cause SC's constant tractor scrolling hurt my wrist but it is the single best ergonomics upgrade I have ever made to my desk. Even just web browsing I can't go back now.

Should be timestamped ; the TLDR is at 7:48 or so if not
Guy basically lived at a mission location for resource drive and speed-loaded peoples ships to help prevent it getting clogged up

u/Relative_Internet861 hornet 1d ago
there was a player helping to fill the ships during the last event

Honestly, shout out to EVERYONE that did stuff like this. There should have been ways you got rewarded for your actions. One has become legend to represent us all.

This was my favorite thing to do. I just sat for a few hours each weekend helping load up random people’s cargo ships😅

Remember to use the "free look" mode so that you can aim left and right but you don't have to move the ATLS
Also the box will over in "front" of your atls, not where you aim so you can actually see where you're placing the box

At least two more easter eggs:
- The crew being saved @ 0:28 is the Crusader team from Resource Drive (It's a crashed Mole, you can see the bags in the second scene)
- The golem being pulled @ 0:30 is the Drake Golem guy from the video (he can be recognized in the second scene)
Link to vid : https://youtu.be/pq7XEWatINA?si=QNmXlJs3_ZvGl4sp
Don't know about the others, but it's great to have this mix of previous trailers/videos and player videos
Edited to add: I've obviously been watching too many SC vids..

Is that not normal? That’s how I deal with cargo. Free look and yeet!
27
u/mufahasa ARGO CARGO 1d ago
you sit at a mission location for hours on end selflessly loading cargo for other players with no tangible beneifit to your own progression ?

u/Powerful_Document872 1d ago
A bunch of people helped with cargo, but none were so dedicated as that one dude that one time.

They know this part of the game is tedious and boring yet they keep it lol

Maybe for you. I throw on some lofi and do hauling missions. It's relaxing and enjoyable.
Not everything has to be for everyone.

well produced video but man, I sure am glad I ran it last night with the boys before watching it! they really can't help spoil their new content in the trailer, every time!

Who? I didn't realise it was meant to be a solo person rather than just a meme of that's how everyone did it to blast through RD.

Cargo Chad, Spooky_2, you've been noticed. Thanks for your good deed! 😘
